Another night, another youma. The same drill that had Castor working at a job with no pay, no worker's compensation if he got hurt, no medical, dental or life insurance. He would say it didn't come without benefits at least. At the minimum, he could take more damage, scale buildings like a grasshopper on steroids, and could summon ice from a magical plane of existence that really kind of broke all laws of the natural world. Yup, his job didn't lack benefits in many ways.
One thing it did lack was a sort of dignity, a dignity that had to be sacrificed while wearing soft white feathered wings on his a**. He'd grow to love and loathe his butt wings. They could cushion his fall, granted, they were a big ridiculous. But soft and comforting. He'd often take naps in safe spots after a successful kill. Like the one on the melting gorilla-crocodile fusion youma who had just met it's end via a punch to the gut. A soft scaly underbelly wasn't a very good spot to leave exposed when your enemy could literally punch it with a fist covered in blade of ice.
As the melting youma turned to dust and vanished into fall wind, Castor rolled his shoulders back. A job well done. Content with this, Castor was sure he was done for the night; getting ready to slink off into the shadows and safety for a nice cat nap.

A small jingling sound seemed to approach the senshi. It was an omen that there would be no cat naps. An omen that was actually rather light hearted in sound at least.
********* couldn't have missed this power signature if she wanted to. Guardian cats did not exactly get the option to tune out certain senshi. They could choose to ignore, but it wasn't the same thing as actually blocking that sensation. The tailless cat followed that mental radar, following the largest dot on the mental screen. There had been a youma on that radar too, but by the time her paws were gracing the scene, it had completely vanished.
As she identified the power signature, the pale feline came to realize something. Oh wait, this is the one the Princess had mentioned...
In a tone that was almost playful, the feline called out "Sailor Castor? Sailor Castor, is that you?" It almost sounded as if the feline was calling to a friend she hadn't spoken to in a long time, despite this honestly being their first meeting.

The sound of bells was unusual. So, Castor stopped. Someone was following him. He hoped that maybe it was just some senshi of bells or something. Some one he could just answer a few questions for before he went off into the night. Sadly, no such luck was to be had. As his eyes scanned behind him, they feel to the ground. A cat. A cat with a star of it's head. Castor sighed heavily. "Okay, okay, you got me. I'll stop telling the newbies that they have to run errands for me. But I'm not going to stop making them run laps and doing jumping exercises." His arms crossed. "Darn babies need to know how to escape, what with the police shooting at us half the time." A small smile. "Never seen YOU before however, used to be Astraea who would scold me." A split second of a frown. It was quickly masked. "Er, maybe I did see you before. You cats are pretty easy to miss when you bunch up together at meetings. What can I do for ya?"

Green eyes blinked at the boy's blue ones. "Well, I appreciate your honesty about all of that, but you are not one of my girls, so I don't really have any right to scold you." The manx's tone was absolutely genuine, and her eyes were completely innocent. Apparently there were guardian cats out there who didn't scold like the infamous Astraea.
Unable to resist those urges of a cat, the tailless feline approached and rather easily just began to rub up against the winged senshi's legs like a regular cat would. "Oh no, if I was scolding senshi on Astraea's account all the time, then I wouldn't be able to do anything for myself. I am certain Astraea has plenty of senshi she'd like to scold." The cat let out a small airy laugh. "No, I just couldn't help but notice there was an eternal senshi nearby. I thought my girl was the only one so far... but apparently I was wrong. It's pretty hard to miss a senshi who has a power signature like yours."
She paused from her feline attentions and looked up thoughtfully. "If I were to give eternal senshi a number to correlate with their powers... it would have to be over 9000 to say the very least. Possibly more."
If only the cat knew what she had just insinuated.

Epic cat was epic. Castor so found that if a cat could make a joke to a popular internet meme she was alright in his books. Plus, he did like to consider himself in the over 9000 range. "Your girls? Is that like, your team or something?" Reaching down he gave the cat a nice scratch behind the ears. Hey, a cat was a cat after all. "And wait? Another eternal? Who? I've been trying to find the others, I know they're out there but so far I've not run into any of them!" The more eternals the better. He was feeling alone in his asswing status.
"I'm trying to get us together and figure out what's going on. Beryl has been sending out youma like crazy and senshi are running half assed into battle. Some with egos." He groaned. "Big ones. Rumors of a princess popping up, of this and that. Plus the after shock of the coma..." Castor walked over to a wall, sitting down to better level with his feline companion. "We're not exactly fit for this whole war on Chaos are we?"

Trotting along with Castor, she eventually sat herself down next to him, occasionally glancing to his lap as if silently asking for permission to hop up there. For being a guardian, she certainly seemed rather adjusted to being a cat as well. "Yes, my girls are my girls. There are supposed to be eight, but I have only found two." For a moment, her chest puffed up slightly, obviously signaling the manx was indeed proud of her team, even if she was lacking a majority of them. Without any sort of prompting, she then listed off all of the girls who she considered her own.
"Iris, Metis, Hygiea, Parthenope, Victoria, Egeria, Irene, and Eunomia."
There was a slightly pause as her eyes found the boy's blue ones. Looking to the one you spoke to was only polite. It was a way to reassure herself that the other was listening. "I suspect you know Sailor Iris, but I am not certain if you know Sailor Metis."
As if making a game out of the whole ordeal, the cat playfully asked "Which of my girls do you think has gone Eternal, Castor? Do tell, do tell!"
The mention of Beryl and the general distress this young man was feeling did not go ignored, and the cat merely nuzzled her fluffy cheek against his arm, as if to let him know she'd address such things later. Her eyes still seemed in a mood to play though.

Picking up guardian up, he placed her on his lap, content to treat her like a cat, that was, to pet her back and scratch behind her ears. It was hard not to. Castor nodded, wincing slightly at the mention or Iris. Oh Iris. One girl he'd never get along with. Like Nemesis, just with less decay and more rainbows. "Yeah, run into Iris way back, she thinks I'm a pervert, er, I was... but I'm anymore!" He was quick to clarify this fact. "But no, never run into Metis before. But one is eternal...so-" His face dropped. A long sigh. "You're kidding right?"
Face and palm. "Let me guess, rainbowbrite got a** wings?" The mental image did draw out a smirk. "I bet she hates them. Did she ever try to fly with them?" His smirk turned to chuckle. "I can't imagine her enjoying even more rainbows then what she had as a super."

The cat let out a little mewing sound as she was picked up, but rather easily seemed to settle into the lap. Ah, this was nice. As his fingers worked behind her ears, she leaned into it. Despite the pleasurable sensations scratching her skull, the cat was able to keep the conversation rolling.
"Well, you did manage to get it correct, Sailor Iris is the one who is now eternal. However..." An ear twitched slightly. "Perhaps it isn't just your prior mannerisms that rubbed her the wrong way." ********* was not necessarily a genius, but even the nickname that this senshi had for her girl seemed like something that would have rubbed the tomboy the wrong way. Her shoulders rolled into as good a shrug as she could manage while laying down like this.
"Iris definitely has more sense than to try flying with a decoration. Are you suggesting that you tried such a silly feat?"
The mention of more rainbows also was not ignored, but the feline decided to keep her maw zipped shut. It was not her place to tell Castor about the fact Iris was unable to use her attack properly yet. ********* was not a blabber mouth.
"So how does your team fair with the goings on in the city?" She glanced up to Castor for a moment, expecting some sort of good answer.

Rubbing the back of his head he wasn't sure how to really reply to that. "Er...to be honest don't know what her deal is. One second she's fine next I'm like the demon from another plane of existence. As for flying..." He picked at his bow. It was slowly becoming a habit. A nervous one. "I might have. Once. It ended poorly." He tried to act dignified about it, he really did. "No one told me I couldn't." Alas, if only. If only.
Teams, now there was a topic he didn't even know how to cover. "I don't have a team. Never did. Besides, Beryl put a price on my head. A LARGE price. If I dragged anyone out with me on a regular basis they would become a target. Mostly I just lone wolf. And yeah it's bad but...Unless my partner for the night is super or at least an older senshi with some training I can't run that risk." Not to mention he wasn't sure who he'd team up with. Most of his closest allies teamed up already. He was just the loaner who attached himself in passing. "These days if I'm not out crunching youma, I'm hunting down newbies and making sure they get the basics down. Teaching them how to fight, how to run, how to hide. Stuff nobody taught me when I first started this gig. I figure it's something."

"Do you treat her like a girl or do you treat her like who she is?" It was a simple question that went straight to the point.
The cat's eyes closed as that feeling began to make her feel like she was melting of happy. Happy melting was always the best feeling in the world. However, that happy didn't last too long as the senshi said something that concerned her.
"So, if I am getting this correct... you are teaching these new senshi to be what you think they should be? Yet, you have a price on your head within the Negaverse?"
The alarms in her head were going off with this. Despite this, the cat still remained quite pleasant. She didn't show too many symptoms of tensing up, though her eyes did blink back open and her whiskers shook slightly. "So you are essentially setting it up so that the Negaverse will eventually start hunting new senshi merely to get to you?"

Her first question caught him. Castor paused. "..." He looked back. Thought about it. "I treat her like a girl. I take it this is not a good thing." Understatement. He also teased her. "What should I do then? Treat her like she never needs back up? When I first ran into her she hit me! All I was trying to do was help!" Castor had seen the world in one view, and his memories tended to reflect that, especially the painful bits.
The jab at his methods didn't go unnoticed. At least he considered them a jab. "I'm not teaching them who they should be. I'm teaching them how not to be who I was. Nobody told be about why we fight. About Beryl. About Serenity or Endymion and the Silver Millennium. About Chaos. Nobody. Nobody told me what the negaverse was and why they did what they did. Heck, I can't tell you have long it took me to figure out how to master jumping. To master escaping from cops. To avoid bullets and blades." He seemed angry. "Nobody told me how to be a senshi. Nobody told me how to survive."And there it was, plain as day. The resentment of his own lack of knowledge. Bitterness at his ignorance. "I try to keep the newbies safe when we train. Never the same location. Meet as civilians and move to where we need to go. Stick to the shadows. But...You're right. If the negaverse found out I'm going and looking for newbies it would only be a matter of time." He sighed. "That's part of why I'm trying to find other eternals. A princess. Someone who can do what I can't. If I run into low ranking enemies it's easy to..dispatch them." And wince. Taking human life. "But soon it won't just be the cocky newbies. Captains. Generals." A shudder. "The General King." His hands stopped their petting, resting at his sides.
"We need order. We need to figure out how to fight back, What we have is so sparse. I just...I want to stop defending." Fists clenched. "We need to start attacking."

"I could list the obvious character traits of Iris, but I feel that would be unnecessary." The cat lifted her head for a nod, bell jingling slightly with the motion. "Also, I do not make a habit of speaking about the personal lives of senshi to other senshi. I do not plan to start now, but I will say this. As a person, she is an amazing individual who any person should be glad to have as a friend." Perhaps it was frustrating at times that Ellie Spectre was so bullheaded, but at the same time, the tomboy's integrity to whatever she believed in was impressive. The girl believed in hard work and aimed to be independent. She was never afraid of speaking her mind or hiding what she felt. ********* could also related to Ellie's constant need to be doing something rather than sitting on her butt.
The cat listened. She didn't shut out Castor's logic for his own reasoning. That was one thing that was nice about *********. She could be counted to listen. With the words he said, it was obvious he had been respectful and done the same, acknowledging that she had said some things that seemed true to him as well. It was when he had finished that she almost seemed to roll so she could face him.
"I will confess, I have not always been around. I only appeared after the meeting, as my girls describe, as the one where Luna revealed herself and the cell phones were given out." The cat tucked her paws up slightly against her body before continuing. "However, I merely guide the senshi I awaken. Everyone is at a different place when they are awakened, when they join this battle. Some accept it the moment they turn senshi. Some think of it as a dream. It is my belief that if I toss too much information at someone, then they will just shut me out." She tilted her head a bit. "Perhaps I am just strange in thinking that each individual will ask me the questions as they are ready for them."
She paused just long enough to lick her chest awkwardly for a few seconds before returning back into the conversation. "You speak as a leader, but you lead no one. You avoid having a team simply because you want to protect others, but a leader knows that even having a team, your duty is just to lead them. Lead them into being able to fend for themselves, lead them into making the right decisions. Even if there is danger, a leader is able to lead those with them so nobody is left behind."
In a rather humorous fashion, the tailless cat them rolled out of the boy's lap, landing rather solidly upon her feet next to him. "Okay, enough preaching for one day! You want to meet with other Eternals? You tell me a time, I tell you a place. I suspect if you approach Iris yourself, she will probably just avoid the meeting altogether. It is best if I approach her about it." She winked rather notably at the Senshi of Hail. "I can be quite persuasive."

Castor never wanted to be a leader, yet there he was. The eternal, the one who was stronger then half his peers. The one who had been around since what seemed like forever. What drove him to try and act like a leader? Taranis. Watching senshi die. Watching newbies fall and hearing them ask him questions he wondered when he started out. Questions he had hunted to find answers for. His own experiences drove him to help others. But did it make him a leader? Did he want that responsibility? No, not really. The role of leader was for the princess, this was the truest of facts.
Giving ********* a light scratch on the back of her head Castor sighed. "Who can say? Maybe we're both doing it wrong. I don't want to lead anybody." More scratching. It was calming just petting fur. Maybe it was why people owned cat. Even if Castor firmly thought himself a dog person. "I just want to protect them you know." As she got down, Castor stood, taking a moment to stretch his muscles. "But yeah, if you talked to Iris that would be great. I..I don't think she would want anything to do with me." Still a small smile as on his face now.
"How will I get into contact with you? Kitty Command?" He chuckled. He doubted it would be as easy as that. Or as silly named.

The manx padded forward, but paused in the middle to stretch one of her back legs back. Oh, what always felt so nice.
"Weeeeeeell..." She stepped forward a bit more. "It depends on how you want to do this? Shall we all meet in our powered forms? Or shall we meet as... our normal selves?" This was always something to consider.
"With more than one eternal senshi meeting together, it would make it much easier for the Negaverse to sense our location. Unless you remain incognito for the meeting, you will be a big alarm to any patrolling Negaverse agents."
She paused to specifically turn back to facing the Senshi of Hail. "If incognito, I can think of a safe place to meet... and it would be easier to get Iris involved. I can name the time and place, and your job is to find whoever you'd need to join that meeting."

He thought about it for a second. Then figured it out. Castor was awfully easy sometimes. "Normal. A bunch of us with a cat or two is asking for trouble. As for time and place, I'm down with whatever you can brew up. I'll keep on the look out for the other eternal senshi. I know Chronos and Helios...well, sorta know Helios. Either way." He gave the cat a salute. "I'm off to go save the day in another sector." He started to head back into the shadows. "Looking forward to hear'n from ya kitty commander!"
