I was recently in a thread that offended a lot of people and grabbed flames from others: THIS THREAD HERESo, I was wondering, what is your opinion on the whole racial preference thing?

SakuraDroplet45 I'm black and I don't care what race people are when it comes to attraction. If you're appealing to my preferences and you respect me, I find you attractive. Besides, I believe there are unattractive people and nice-looking people no matter what you are. That's exactly what I said when I replied to that thread. I guess it depends on what the individual finds appealing.

[I'm really disliking the "ape nose" remark, but that's immaturity for ya. rolleyes
It's obvious he's coming from only one point of view...many people pointed out he left out a lot of possible combinations; it really would have been time consuming to list them all, and probably impossible for him.
As for the topic at hand though...everything that he said is from his point of view. There's nothing wrong with anyone of any color ******** someone else of any other color or ethnicity.
It was silly of him to say "however [black girls] get more attractive if their skin tone is lighter." rolleyes You mean, "If they look more white"? Then you're back to the "I only like white girls" opinion anyway. xd
Anyway, the same immature comments he made could come from anyone's mouth directed at someone of any color. There are black girls who don't find pale white skin attractive just because it's pale and white, just like how he says he doesn't like black skin. It's really his loss, and it's only his problem if he feels that way.
As for my own opinion on "racial preferece," there's nothing wrong with it. It's a very commonplace, sometimes even innocent, well-meaning conversation to have with someone.
Some boy on a kids show once said, while talking to his friend about girls, "I like European girls." Due to the nature of the character, "European" is taken to mean "white." So what? I'm sure his character dashed a lot of young minority girls hopeful fantasies, but so what? That's real. neutral ]

Me personally, I'm open to any race. I believe if you won't date anyone outside your race, something is wrong. Then again, some people just have a preference.
I tend to lean more toward to those who are the same race, but I'm not opposed to variety.

Dark_Lady_Jade I was recently in a thread that offended a lot of people and grabbed flames from others: THIS THREAD HERESo, I was wondering, what is your opinion on the whole racial preference thing? *starts singing Angie Stone's "Black Brother" song.* I answered this question in Inter-Racial thread, but I'll say it again. Things like that, (an example of a white guy choosing the "Tragic Mulatto" stereotype) tend to make me steer away from white guys.

[Also...since when is "not liking someone because of the color of their skin" NOT racist? rolleyes
But anyway, there are unfortunately tons of white guys like him-- both young and old, "educated" and foolish; you could be a "perfect 10," but if you've got dark skin with black features, you're an automatic 2nd to all the white girls in the room. I've experienced it myself. sad (Though I wouldn't call myself a "perfect 10." xd )
I'm sorry you feel that way, RAS-Anjilyn...Some of them actually aren't that bad biggrin , but it's unfortunate people still so obviously wear their "racism," be it innocent or malicious, on their sleeve. evil ]

Passion_Dragon [Also...since when is "not liking someone because of the color of their skin" NOT racist? rolleyes I don't think having a racial preference in a potential mate is racist. I mean In my personall opionion I don't view it any different than guys preffering blondes to brunettes. If white guys do not find black girls attractive because of thier skin color than thats there prefferance. Nothing racist about it. I know a guy who will not. Date blondes because he is not attracted to them. The blonde hair turns him off. I have racial prefferances in women, but thats just me.

[The dictionary begs to differ (on the definition of racism only). But we can't go along living our lives according to exact definition anyway. So I see your point regardless. Good job. 3nodding Besides, it's only natural to have some preferences. As I stated before, "As for my own opinion on 'racial preferece,' there's nothing wrong with it. It's a very commonplace, sometimes even innocent, well-meaning conversation to have with someone." Come to think of it, the "racist" comment only came about because of the way the original author of the other thread was trying to say he wasn't racist, while doing a poor job of proving it.]

Lupin The Great I say it's your right to choose. Yeah, but he has no right to put it out that way by saying one is better than another or lighter is better than dark.

RAS-Anjilyn Lupin The Great I say it's your right to choose. Yeah, but he has no right to put it out that way by saying one is better than another or lighter is better than dark. I think you need to re-read what he said. He said in his opinion lighter skined girls are more attractive than dark. Key words 'his' and 'opinion' which he has every right to have. He then said that it is 'his perceptive' that the general public preffers lighter skinned girls and he backed it up with facts. Even if he didn't that kid could of gone on a racist spree and said we should enslave or kill blacks, and he still would of had the right to say it. You see we live in a place called America, and in this magical place known as America we have a certain something called freedom of speech. Which guarentees the people that live in the mysterious magical land of America the freedom to say whatever they damn well please. Just like I can say that you are absolutely one-hundred percent wrong. He had every right to say it. 3nodding I still got it.

Passion_Dragon Soothsayer Jeckal If you haven't noticed my whole family is racist. [Hm...okay. "What a shame." Tons of families of all ethnicities are like that, unfortunately.] Yeah but I love it. Its a source of constant entertainment. I know my sister once paid this black guy fifty bucks to pretend to be her boyfriend to mess with my parents. I didn;t think she would go through with it. So when she walked into the door at supper time clinging to this guys arem I fell out of my chair laughing. My mom was all hypervenalating (SP?) My dad freaked out and that poor kid ran. My sister pushed the joke and said she was pregnate with his baby. No one under stood until the next day why I was laughing. I about passed out because I couldn;t breathe. That April fools joke got me grounded for two months, and my sister for three weeks. rofl
