Please people, if you're going to sell in the Exchange, and someone gives you an offer that you like and you tell them to send the trade, PLEASE don't back out of the deal for a measly 1k when the trade is just waiting to be finalized. If you want to take more bids, take more bids. If you want more for your item, wait for more. I can't tell you how many times I've wandered into threads where people have said "send trade" to five or six different offers in a row (sometimes all within a two minute span) for the same item and I've just turned and left.
BE DECISIVE, and be SURE when you accept an offer that it's the one you want.
Also, I don't care HOW rich/well-known people are in the Exchange. Having a devil tail or minis doesn't suddenly grant you permission to be a jackass. Also, swearing at other people doesn't make you look like a badass, it only shows that you have nothing better to say. (There are a ton of people in this guild that manage to tell people off quite nicely with a more subtle use of vocab, and honestly it's a heck of a lot more effective.)
I was told today that manners don't apply in the Exchange. To a certain extent that's right, but dude? Even pirates have a code.
Basic conduct, people. We should haz eet. stare

You've pretty much enumerated why I don't bother with the Exchange.
Manners don't matter? Good grief, I've made more gold/friends/contacts through just being nice to people than I ever could imagine. I've never regretted being nicer to someone than I had to be. There's always time to be rude later if necessary.

I got cussed out once for inviting this girl who was wearing an Angelic Sash & minis to join a guild. She told me how that "Just because she was wearing expensive items doesn't give me the right to bother her with that bullshit."
And went on to tell me how she was reporting me for harassing her. sad
Another time I was in the exchange & made an offer on some item. I think I make reasonable offers on everything. He didn't like my offer, & told me no.
I tried haggling with him as best as I could, but no matter what I offered, he was never happy until he finally told me if he couldn't get marketplace price he wasn't selling.
I told him I wasn't interested in paying that much at the time but wished him well. I remember thinking the item seemed inflated, but wasn't sure.
But he cussed me out anyways & blocked me from the thread. No idea what I said.

Honestly..I don't see how manners don't apply. When you're doing business in person wouldn't it make sense to be polite in order to get the deal or sell your product? Now, why wouldn't that also make sense here? We're still selling a product. People are dumb.
Plus, I seen someone mention here that manners go a long way and that if the person sees you again they're likely to give you a deal since they remember you as that person with manners who was very polite.
Also, like Purplewiz said, I've never regretted being polite. Heck, I even got a 1st gen Seracila's Pendant for like 150k cheaper than MP price.
Personally, my pet peeve is people who say 'no lowballing'. Oh, and people who want marketplace prices in the exchange. confused

I try to stay out of the exchange unless I"m in a hurry to sell something. You can offer something only 300k below the MP price and someone will yell "NO LOWBALLING!" rolleyes Gaian please.

I absolutely hate it when people ask for prices that are higher than MP. Like seriously bro, no. And then when I offer a decent price that isn't even CLOSE to lowball, the yell "No lowballing!!11". And before I can respond, I find out that I got BLOCKED.

I always try being polite to people, even if they're being seriously unreasonable. Like once I offered 55k for a 61k item and they (nitemare scarf, golden laurels and all) basically said "give me my 60k or GTFO". They were like: tax is 2% so that makes the item worth less -- which was weird because that isn't exactly helping their cause rolleyes
I left, of course.

I did this a few days ago, but the guy I did it to PMed me instead of posting in the thread so I didn't think he deserved a discount anyway.
Plus he was loaded with 04s. Kinda pissed me off.
