This time Mavican was certain she was lost. So hard had she tried to keep track of which way she had turned along each path but her poor memory once again made it impossible to keep those directions in mind for long. But still as lost as she was Mavican kept on padding along, convinced that eventually she would find a familiar tree or bush or rock.
Her tailed wagged about like a purple and gold flag, her paws bouncing on the ground. She may be lost but she was happy. In fact there had only been one time before now that she had not be happy for one reason or another. Maybe she would find something interesting today, meet a new friend or something else. A bird fluttered above her and Mavican's attention was instantly turned to it, no longer looking at where she was going but where the bird was going. Her paws moved faster trying to keep up as the brightly colored bird moved between the trees. "Hey come back!" She called out, as it disappeared behind a bough of a large oak tree.

Ah, it was a lovely day. The tan pup was sprawled out in her favorite spot, a small clearing in the forest that got plenty of sunshine and was full of flowers. She blended in pretty well with the ground since the the grass was just starting to turn a light brown. She'd wandered off from her mothers den to get some peace and quiet. They were just too darn noisy for her to handle for long. So she figured she might as well take a little nap before she was called back. She was just starting to doze off and relax.
She didn't even notice the purple and gold blur that came flying through the meadow until it was right on top of her. The other pup barreled right into her and sent the two tumbling over and over the crispy grass. "Oof!" She grunts and squirms and flips over to try and untangle herself from the pretzel the two had gotten into. "Watch where you're going!" She yaps and finally manages to break free. She glares at the other pup, then looks at her with interest. She didn't know who this puppy was and it perked her interest.

The bird had come back into view and then suddenly Mavican found herself tumbling down the onto the ground. Her legs were tangled into those of another pup. Woah, where did she come from? After a moment of squirming the other pup freed herself of the mess they had found themselves in. "Sorry!" Mavican barked happily, tail wagging ferociously. "I was watching a bird, it was flying so fast."
Finally she took a moment to look over this new pup. So much tan on her, it reminded Mavican of some of the wolves from her pack, some of them were natural colored. Then there was her and her family, all of which were brightly colored. "Hey, you look like all the dead grass, you're very brown." The purple pup plopped her butt on the ground and idly scratched at her ear before continuing. "I'm Mavican, who are you?"

Magaera blinks and tilts her head to the side. "Uhm...Thanks?" She says and furrows her brows. This girl was kinda weird. But she liked her coloring, which was a pretty shade she'd never seen before. Magaera had always liked brightly colored things and she disliked her plain pelt. Which did exactly what she pointed out, blended with brown, dead things. She gives herself a shake and eyes her. "I'm Magaera. Why were you chasing a bird?" She asks and tries to size this other female up. Naturally she was manipulative and always did this whenever she met anyone new. She was thinking of how she could possibly use her for her own ends.

Good question, why had she been chasing that bird? "Well...I don't remember. It was very pretty, flitting around the trees." Her eyes drifted up to the sky, trying to see if she could spot the bird again. Well there were birds up there but not the one she had been following and clouds, there were so many beautiful clouds. Why that one looked like a really, really fat deer. Slowly her attention turned to the pup in front of her, oh yeah she had been talking to her. "I wish I could fly like a bird." Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing. You could see so many things, and wouldn't be restricted to paths to travel - you could go whenever you wanted. After a moment of being off in lala land Mavican focused on Magaera once more. "You live around here?" She asked cheerfully, maybe if she did then Magaera could help Mavican find her way home.

Magaera nodded. All right, she thought she had a good idea of who this pup was. Well, not exactly who she was, but the type. A little air headed and carefree. Some of her siblings was like that, so she was used to it. She nods, knowing it wouldn't get her anywhere if she tried to correct her. "Yeah, I don't live to far from here. Are you lost?" She asks and already knows the answer. She takes a moment to shake off the grass from her fur and gives her shoulder a lick or two to smooth down the ruffled fur. She wondered what her family was like and if it was very different from hers. She was always interested in learning how other wolves lived and had made it something of a mission to find out.

Was she lost? That was a silly question, of course she was lost. "Yup!" Mavican answered cheerfully giving her tail another wag, causing her back end to wiggle about. Any other pup would probably not be so happy to be lost but Mavican was always able to see the positive in everything, she may be lost but she was also gaining a new friend. "Momma says I need to stop wandering off cause I always get lost. Momma is smart." Speaking of Momma she usually ended up coming along to bring her home at some point so Mavican figured if she stayed with Magaera then eventually she would come along.
"Hey you got any brothers or sisters? I have ummm..." How many siblings did she have again? "...one brother and two sisters." Ha she remembered! It was the first step to remembering other important details like how to get home or more importantly how not to get lost in the first place.

The young brown pup chuckles. Yep. She had her pegged right. "I bet she is." She says agreeably and gets up and scoots closer over to Mavican. She gives her a few curious sniffs to get her scent and tilts her head to the side. "You don't really smell like anything around here..." She notes, trying to figure out where she came from. Which could be from just about anywhere.
She paused when she heard the question. "Yeah. I have three brothers and two sisters." She says offhandedly and doesn't really think about it. All things considered it was actually pretty big.

Mavican couldn't help but lower her head and sniff her own scent, then lift her nose to the air and take in a deep wiff. Nope, she definitely didn't smell like the area. Well if she didn't smell like this area then all she could need to do is find some place that smelled somewhat like her and that would lead to home right? It made sense but Mavican wasn't entirely sure that's would entirely work.
Her ears perked forward a bit as Magaera answered her question. "That's a lot of siblings." How did she manage to keep track of that many faces and names. It was hard for Mavican to keep up with her three siblings, she couldn't imagine trying to remember even more names. Mavican glanced out at the surroundings, taking in the scenery. Boy it sure was beautiful here, it reminded her so much of home. Her head turned slowly until she spotted a brown pup sitting beside her. Well hey, when did she get here. "Hey!" She said enthusiastically as if seeing the pup for the first time. "I'm Mavican. Wanna play?"

Magaera watched Mavican with interest. She noted how the other pup's face went almost totally lax when she looked away from her and around. She saw her regard the scenery for a moment before focusing back on her. She was puzzled by how blank her eyes looked, as if she hadn't seen her before. Then she practically fell over when she reintroduced herself.
"Hmmm..." She mumbles to herself. She thinks for a moment, then her eyes brighten with interest. She puffs her chest out slightly and decides to try something. "Do you know who I am?" She asks seriously and looks at her with critical eyes, which were glinting mischievously.

Eyes narrowed a bit as she looked at the brown pup curiously. Mavican huffed slightly at the question. "Of course I do! You're....um..." She chewed her lip trying to think of the pups name, but as far as she could remember she had only just met her and had not been given her name. Eyes stared at the pup, though occasionally glanced off to look around, but they at least kept returning to the pup as she tried to figure out her name. "Um...I don't know...you haven't told me your name." She finally stated with a happy wag of her tail. How was she supposed to know the name of someone who she hadn't been introduced to yet. "So you wanna play?"

"Well! I am called Princes Magaera! Ruler of all these lands!" The small tan pup woofs, her chest still puffed out. She'd play a little trick on Mavican just for fun. Her tail twitched in a slight wag and she barely kept in a giggle. She couldn't help but like the thought of being the ruler of all the lands. It had a nice ring to it. She looked at Mavican with fiery eyes, wondering if she'd actually believe her. If not, oh well.

"Woah." Mavican's eyes grew wide with excitement and awe. "You're a princess? And these are your lands?" That was so cool, her tail began to wag wildly at the thought that she knew a princess. Oh wouldn't her siblings be totally jealous when she got home and told them the news. It's not every day one meets a princess. Lowering herself down to lay beside this royal pup Mavican continued to stare at her with wonder in her eyes.
"Is it hard being a princess? What does a princess do? Do you like the same this us normal wolves like? Oh! Ohohohohoh! Can I be like your official princess friend? You know the one that guards your secrets and that you play with." Her string of questions came in one long winded sentence, tail thumped against the ground as she laid there waiting for the princess to reply.

Magaera was absolutely delighted that she'd believed her. It wouldn't hurt to pretend to be a princess for awhile, now would it? She didn't think so. She wagged her tail and lifted her head higher. She tried to look as regal as possible. "Well, it is very hard to be a princess. I have many...princessy duties." She says and flicks her ears in amusement. "I have to make sure the common wolves are happy and I have to meet a lot of important wolves all the time." She says and heaves a dramtic sigh as if this was a daunting task she had to slog through every day. "But yes, I think we like most of the same things. And hmmm..." She says, looking down at the other pup curiously. "I think you could be my official princess friend. It's a very important honor you know." Magaera says and flicks her tail slightly.

Mavican was completely enthralled with this Princess before her. She felt so honored to be in her presence, and the fact that they were talking was even better. Princesses could sometimes be snooty, or at least that's what she thought, though honestly before today Mavican had never met a princess or at least couldn't remember ever meeting one. Of course the most exciting thing of the day was that she was not the official friend of the princess and Mav's tail thumped loudly against the ground. "Oh I'm so glad that I am your official friend. I feel honored."
But then a problem arose, how could she be the official friend of the princess when she didn't live near her? Or at least she didn't think she lived anywhere near here....nothing looked similar and yet at the same time trees and meadows all looked the same. "So....what do we do now?"
