Isn't this just wonderful. Akari thought, a frown tugging at her lips as she made her way between the bushy pine trees. The forest she was wondering through was almost pitch black, the moon's light not peeking through the heavy tree branched above her. The mare's ears were pulled back in frustration. She had never felt so lost before in her life. Her legs were starting to tire and ache, and her body was growing weary. Twigs and leaves were tugging and breaking off into her mane, and she didn't want to think of the state her tail was in. Akari would have to take a long dip in the river to straighten her appearance out. Too bad I'm no where close to a body of water...
She tried her hardest to keep her hopes up of getting through the woods safely. The darkness drew fear into her heart, as she could feel that she wasn't alone here. An owl hooted in the distance, causing her body to tense up. Where was her sister when she needed her? Oh yeah, she's just fine with the humans.
That was how it all started- Yunai wanted to visit a human healer, having heard of them from one of their mothers. Akari had agreed to join her sister on their 'quest'. By now, they had been staying at the healers place for a few nights. The elderly human women had asked Akari to go out in search of a special kind of mushroom. Akari had found it, deep in this forest, but on her way out, she had somehow managed to get lost.
Sighing softly, the mare continued on, hoping that she would soon reach the edge.

Lutra had spent his time walking along the long path from the two leggers village and through the forest. Often guiding the two leggers safetly. But he was on his own tonight. The forest was dark and this particular path was thin, and not so well worn. His lantern creaking slightly with each of his steps. The flame flickering on the glass, and it's green glow the only light seen for some distance. The moon didn't even show through the canopy.

He walked alone, and was happy either way really. He didn't even really think about anything. Hearing the sounds of the night creatures. His green eyes glancing around, just taking in the scenery.

Gasping, the mare stumbled forwards after tripping upon... something. Luckily, she managed to catch her balance before she could fall on her face. Akari stomped her front hooves on the ground in agitation. It was far too dark for her to even tell what had made her stumble. Tears started to creep into the mare's pink eyes. The mushrooms weren't worth this.

Creeeeeak......creeeeak......creeeeak.....

The mare's whole body stiffened at the sudden noise that pierced through the forest. It stood out against the rest of the noises that were common at night. The sound grew louder with every moment.
W-what is that? Akari wondered, putting one trembling hoof infront of the other. Her eyes tried peering through the trees to find the source of the noise, but couldn't see anything.
Then slowly, a dim green light started to creep through the trunks of the trees. Her eyes widened even further, and she stumbled back until her rear bumped unexpectedly into something solid.
In her nerves, the mare leaped forward, kicking out behind her, a scream escaping her lips. Unintentionally bolting towards the light, Akari ran from the mysterious solid thing that she had bumped into. (Lol a tree.)

The silence was shortened when a scream reached the stallion's ears. His head raised and he looked in the direction of it, stopping in mid step. As he listened, he then heard thudding... No galloping, as the unknown mare bolted toward him. But he was curious as to why this was going on, and he stood there...

But then he was taken back rather quickly when the mare burst from the trees into the tiny clearing that he was following, causing him to rear up and back a little, off the path.

"Whoa..!"

Her eyes were closed as she sprinted forwards, miraculously not hitting any trees on the way. Her hooves pounded on the ground with every panic'd step, alerting any creature around her to her presents. The tears in her eyes finally poured over, dripping down her cheeks and soaking into her coat.
Akari snapped out of it and stopped fast when she heard a voice yelling right next to her. Her eye flew open, shooting towards the location of the stallion.
She could tell that she had shocked him in her sudden arrival. But he didn't look scared of meeting another Soquili in the darkness.
Not that I look very dangerous...
She tried opening her mouth to speak, but a choked sob came out instead of the words she meant to udder. Tears started dripping from her eyes at a faster pace, as she stood with her head lowered almost to the ground. She felt pathetic, and lost. "P-please help, sir." She could make out that he had no intentions upon hurting her. If she was reading him correctly, maybe he could help her.

'P-please help, sir.' Lutra couldn't help but feel aged. He knew that there were only few ways to address a stallion. But sir always made him feel old, and he certainly wasn't old. The stallion wouldn't hold it against the mare. And she was clearly in distress. He looked around, the lantern creaking a few times as his neck twisted around the mare. he couldn't find any direct signs of a threat.

"What's wrong?" He asked her. He was probably more taken aback by the fact that she was balling her eyes out, and he couldn't figure out why. He had never had that happen to him. The metal of the lantern's ring pressed into his tongue as he spoke. He would be more then willing to help her... As long as it didn't require him to fight any dragons... He wasn't a prince charming.

Akari kept her eyes lowered to the ground, waiting for the silent stallion to reply. She hoped that he wasn't upset by her sudden appearance, and her request for help. It wasn't often that she needed someones assistance. Her sister was usually there to help her figure things out, and get her through sticky situations like this one.
Only when he started talking, did she lift her eyes to meet his own.
His eyes... Akari's sobs stopped as she noticed the deep green color of his irises. She couldn't decide if it was the lantern illuminating them that made them so clear and beautiful, or if it was just their natural coloring. Swallowing the lump that had formed in her throat, Akari tried responding to the Stallion's question. "I-...I'm lost," Her voice was almost unrecognizable to her, not carrying an ounce of happiness within it. It was hoarse from her sobs, and almost scratchy. "I was picking some mushrooms for a human but got lost. I've been wandering around since sunset." He must be thinking how silly she was for getting herself so hopelessly lost. She felt foolish enough to have gotten herself into a situation like this.

Lutra raised the lantern, it gave the mare a green tint but he was able to she her much better. She was the first he encountered with wings of that size. Not to mention her long full hair. Maybe she was an angel? But then again.. Did angels get lost? Oh well, he wouldn't mind helping out a lovely mare like her. Especially with something as simple as being lost. he could understand her fear. The woods were rather creepy. That's why when he walked them especially alone, he didn't think about anything.

"That's all? I'd be glad to help." He talked around the lantern. He never put it down at night... Never know what could come along and snatch it. "Did you want to go back to the two legger village?" He was glad she stopped crying. He didn't want her to feel that upset anymore. He was there, and would help so everything should be better now.

Akari shifted from side to side nervously when she noticed him staring. She wasn't used to being alone with strangers, especially ones that were male. And being under someone's gaze who wasn't her sister or mothers made her feel oddly self conscious. She must have looked like an absolute mess! Oh what he must be thinking...
Akari's wings flexed out once, before curling in closer to her sides, trying to hide some of the dirt the caked over her coat.
Akari lowered her head briefly in gratitude when he offered to help her. "Thank you so, so much." A small, shaky smile ghosting over her face. "That would be for the best. Sister is waiting for me there,"

Lutra nodded to the mare. It was dark out, and so such details like dirt on the coat weren't easily seen. He looked around for a minute, before walking back her a couple of steps, in the direction he was going. "We'll be going this way." He glanced over his shoulder at her.

"My name is Lutra. I walk this path nightly guiding those who ask, and those that are lost." He was like the beacon in the dark. He didn't mind it really. He enjoyed what he did to be honest.

Akari made sure to keep up with the stallion not wanting to leave the light that his lamp offered. She fell into step at his shoulder. He walked like there was a path laid out in front of him and he knew the way by heart. Just how long had he been in this forest?
And who was he anyways? It had slipped her mind to ask for his name, and she had been so concerned about being lost that she forgot to offer her own. Just as Akari was about to ask, the male he started speaking.
"My name is Lutra. I walk this path nightly guiding those who ask, and those that are lost."

"Lutra?" Akari blinked slowly, pernouncing out his name. Never before had she met someone with a name quite like his. Akari was surprised that he had just answered everything that she had been thinking about not a few minutes before. Interesting...
Her nerves were still slightly shaken, but it reassured her that he had done this multiple times before. It was almost like an occupation of his! But why would he want to stay in the dark like this? Clearing her thoat quickly, and hoping that it would help her from stuttering, Akari replied "Then I am very lucky to have stumbled upon you, Lutra" Quite literally.
"My name is Akari," Usually after she introduced herself, Yunai would speak up and take the reins in the conversation. Her sister was always the one to take control of the situation, Akari would just follow along. "May I ask you a question, Lutra?" It was only polite to ask. Some stallions didn't like it when others poked their noses into their business.

Lutra glanced his bright eyes to the side, to look at the mare. he could tell how she quickly fell into stride that she was uncomfortable out there. He had admired her name, it suited her well, least he thought so. But she wanted to ask something... She was by far not the first to talk to him, or ask questions. And to be honest he didn't mind. Because he only talked with those he found usually.

"What it is?" He asked. Not in a harsh manner, he wondered if there were any questions that could shock him anymore. He would have asked her why she was out there, but the mare had already told him... So he wasn't to sure if there was anything for him to ask her. He wasn't the best at getting conversations started...

"How long have you been doing this? It sounds pretty lonely," Akari offered him a smile. She wouldn't ever be able to hold a task like that, night after night. Did Lutra ever have any time to himself? It would be rude for her to ask that. What he did was his own business. She could only be grateful towards him for helping her out. Who knows what could have happened if she hadn't ran into him.
The green light that shown from his lamp did a good job in showing the path that laid before them. Akari did her best to keep up, her tail dragging across the ground behind her. What would Yunai say when she saw her looking like this? All of the small woodland critters that normally followed her around had abandoned her side awhile back. She had left the small winged kitten that stayed near her back at the human's home. Akari was glad that she had made that choice. She couldn't imagine that it'd be very happy in this place.

"For most of my adult life." He looked back at her. "I guess I don't mind it... Like I was born to do it." He shrugged some leading her through the forest. It was so quite he could hear the mare breathing. And he could tell she was still feeling a bit upset. She didn't seem like the kind that belonged in the woods anyways.

The lantern creaked as it rocked with his steps. He liked the company the mare was providing, oddly enough. Maybe it was because she was angeni. He had never met one before so he wasn't to sure if it was her or her breed that gave off that feeling.

"It shouldn't to much longer back to the village."
