Night 1,
pg 4: The Maniacs, gathered at the neighborhood playground, eagerly set out to begin trick-or-treating. As they arrived at the first house, a black cat slinked down the driveway, subduing their laughter. “Let’s go anyways!” someone declared, and cautiously they walked up and rang the front doorbell. An old lady answered, smiling without teeth, and sprinkled cough drops in all the bags. “Well, that wasn’t worth it,” the kids sighed. They turned back towards the street and heard funny rustling in the bushes.
“OOOOOoooo!!!!” A grim reaper jumped out and slashed his scythe menacingly. Screaming in terror, the children ran past him. The scythe had knocked down the pail of the
Playboy Bunny, though, and without her top hat to collect candy,
badtzmaru hopped home crying.
A block later, the Maniacs stopped running to collect their breaths. Looking themselves over, the
Princess Bride peeked into her bouquet-bag and gasped, “Where’s my candy?” In the chaos, someone had stolen her sweets. Teary eyed,
Sweet Amber Lynne ambled home defeated.
The beginning of their trick-or-treating seemed full of terrible omens. Wary for the rest of the night, the kids moved on to the next house.
Night 2,
pg 11: The Maniacs continued on to the next few houses, and all in all collected some good eats. Doubling back down the street, they approached the first house they’d visited that evening and noticed the black cat still sitting on the driveway. In memory of the last catastrophe, the kids passed around a carton and loaded up their arms. “One, two, THREE!” the kids hollered, launching egg after egg at the
Old Lady’s front porch. The bat-in-question opened the door, and
Medeus took one full to the face. “You rotten kids!” she yelled after them as they ran away - away from the meanie, away from still rustling bushes, away from the cat.
Feeling victorious in their revenge and wanting it to last, the ghost set down his brown paper bag and waved his arms. “I bring news from the great beyond!” he started in a spooky voice.

Night 3,
pg 18: Nearly brimming with candy, the Maniacs decided they could finish one more round of trick-or-treating before the night was over. Pausing before the last street, the kids looked around carefully. The black cat was nowhere in sight, though it sounded as if the rustling bushes had followed them all over the neighborhood. Grinning at each other in good fortune, a piercing scream broke the calm.
“GONE! My candy is gone!!” cried the
Anime Schoolgirl, flipping her book bag upside down, expecting something, anything to fall out. Weeping,
Hashire Kazeimeijin ran home, abandoning the rest of the group. Someone shouted, “the
Cowboy, check his holsters! He was standing right next to her!” The kids clambered over him, stealing all his candy. But by the time they had figured out it was all his,
LPS had already hightailed outta there.
Ashamed about their outburst, they thought nothing else could go wrong. Distracted, the Grim Reaper caught them by surprise, jumping in front of them once again. Swinging his scythe, he caught the pail of the Police Officer. And though Shiny Gligar mourned his loss, terror drove him from the scene. And though Shiny Gligar mourned his loss, terror drove him from the scene, as it did all of the kids. Laughing maniacally, the Reaper gathered the candy cauldrons of all the Maniacs. Two pillowcases worth of candy, this Halloween night belonged to a Meanie.
