[*NOTE* This RP Is set before Casimir's first litter and before the Consequences RP ]  It was a hot day. Ridiculously hot. And of course Varia had sent her off on a hunting mission. She didn't know if the grumpy Beta had sent anyone else and she didn't much care. It seemed to her that most of the other wolves, the females mostly, could be just a tad snotty. But it's not like she was complaining. She had protection here and a warm place to sleep.
The white and yellow colored female paused to scent the air. Her long pink tongue was lolling out as she panted and she didn't seem to be in much of a good mood. This was the type of day to just wallow in a pool and do nothing. It seemed the prey had the same idea since most of them were tucked away in their dark, cool burrows. Pickings were slim. But there had to be something out here. She'd rather not go back empty pawed or else she'd receive some sort of reprimand she was sure...

 As a rule, wolves would find a day like today pretty soundly unbearable, but Cas always did make an effort to enjoy himself in even the worst of situations. At present, he was hanging about one of his favorite little spots in the territory, a long, narrow clearing currently choked with clots of long, dead grass, practically smoking in the afternoon haze. It was despairingly hot, yes - Casimir had a coat denser than most, and its color enhanced its heat-absorbing effect intensely - but it was thanks to the heat that he had been absolved of his afternoon tasks, and could wander out to sit and be held hypnotized by the screeching drone of cicadas for a hot, still hour or three. His amber eyes half-lidded in drowsy pleasure, he allowed himself to meditate on the small, slow folds of grass, the somnolent back-and-forth bob of leafy shadows on the ground before him.

Taiyou pauses when she spies something. She squints her eyes against the insultingly bright sun and peers at it. She was perfectly frozen and her primarily white form seemed to disappear in the haze the sun created. It was something brown...and fluffy...
What she was actually seeing was Casimir's tail. But to her, with the sun's baking heat distorting everything at even a small distance, it looked exactly like a squirrel. She licks her chops quietly and starts to creep forward, totally silent despite the dead grass around her. If nothing else, Taiyou was a good stalker. She paused a few feet from his tail, neglecting to see the rest of the other wolf's furry bulk since she was completely honed in on the fluff of fur in front of her. Suddenly she springs forward. There's an almost woosh sound as she pins the tail underneath her paws and looks triumphant at first. Then she looks puzzled. That didn't feel like a squirrel...

What! Casimir let out a startled woof, hopping to his paws to get his tail out of whatever predicament it was in and ogling in thorough bewilderment at the Warrior who had materialized behind him. Society just did not prepare you with scripts for moments like this. He turned himself around (still duty-bound to keep his tail safe from further harm), very clearly confused but trying to deliver the attitude proper for a Slave, his head cocked and his posture apologetic. "I'm sorry, Sister, is there, uh...is there something I can do for you?" Not incredibly smooth, but suave comebacks with quick turnarounds were not really his forte.

Taiyou blinks again when the fluffy thing was jerked away. Then her eyes focused and she realized she'd caught a wolf's tail. Blood rushed to her face in embarrassment and she couldn't say anything for a moment. Then she smiled sheepishly and backed up a step, standing up hastily and twitching her own tail from side to side. "Uhm..." She says at first, at a loss of words. She wasn't much for quick responses either. "I thought you're tail was a squirrel..." She says with a nervous laugh and looks a little sheepish.
She glances around for a moment before back at him. Instinctively she relaxed around the male. She had always enjoyed their presence more than was probably good for one in her position. "What are you doing out here? It's pretty far from the Dens..." She asks, her tone relaxed and more at ease than before.

Oh, fabulous, he thought, I haven't been ambushed by a sourpuss. His dark face cracked into a smile appropriately radiant for the day, and he whisked his tail a bit in good humor. "I'm afraid it's an impostor," he apologized, falling back into a sit and eyeballing Taiyou in the appropriately coy manner of a Slave. She seemed unusually nice, really. Must not have been raised with the pack. "Oh, not a whole lot of anything," he replied, his eyes twinkling but downcast. "I just had the afternoon off, and I didn't feel like holing up in my den just yet. And what are you up to, Sister, if I may ask?"

Taiyou chuckles at the joke and sits down in front of him and tucks her own tail against her body. Technically, she was shirking her duties some, but she figured she wouldn't get faulted for that since it was such a hot day. That sounded like the perfect excuse for her. She stared openly at him with a curious look on her eyes. She'd seen him around before sure, but she hadn't gotten a chance to talk to him. Now seemed like a good chance to her.
"I'm out hunting, but it's just so darn hot all the prey is in their dens." She says with a shrug and sighs, as if to say 'what can you do?' Now she was in full procrastination mood and wanted to strike up a conversation.

"Hunting, this afternoon, huh?" He looked a little quizzical; such a task for a day like this had a certain air of almost degrading triviality to it, and that struck a chord with him. He thought of a certain hard-nosed female and bit his lips, intent on keeping his private amusement in check. "I thought perhaps our Head Warrior had sent you out for Slaves' tails." Oh, god, that was funny - imagine Varia with a headdress swinging with them - but he really shouldn't push his luck. Smothering his glee, he tilted his head and pointed a golden eye at Taiyou's face, trying to figure at what sort of wolf she was. "This is true. You'd have better luck tonight, or maybe fishing."

Taiyou fidgets some and restrains the urge to look down at her paws. She kept her gaze to his with some difficulty and smiled sheepishly again. "Ah...Well...I need to find something before this evening or Varia will have my hide." She says with a nervous chuckle. She didn't elaborate on the fact that she'd been caught cuddling up to one of the male slaves in her free time, which she liked to do often. Her mannerisms were of one who is obviously guilty of something, but she just didn't expand any more on it. "I don't know where I'll get anything...And fishing?" She mumbles and this time does look away from him. She wrinkles her nose at the thought of her paws getting wet. She'd hated fishing in her old pack.

Was there anything as endearing as a bashful Warrior? Cas didn't think it was possible. Wagging his tail, he hopped to his paws and beamed. "Sure, fishing! The fish are probably napping, too, so we might actually stand a chance." His tail waving slowly, he gazed at Taiyou with an expression not all that far from adoration; Cas tended to like everybody, but this unusual wolf he found he liked particularly. Such a nice contrast to the usual bad old girls. And really, the prospect of helping her out, and taking a dip in the process, wasn't that a perfect day right there? "We could go have a look along the streambed, if you want?"

Taiyou noticed the look and couldn't help but smile warmly back. He was certainly interesting. Most of the males here were so...sniveling. All the time. She thought they might be different if you got to know them but she realized most weren't. Cas seemed to open up like some unexpectedly beautiful flower. "All right, maybe a dip wouldn't be that bad." She admits. Just his attitude brightened up her whole outlook. Now she wasn't on some wretched chore at the worst possible time of day, she was out to cool off with a new friend. She gave her tail a slight wag and started to trot off towards the stream bed. She couldn't help but sneak an occasional glance at him. He looked very interesting, and he was awfully big.
Her mind drifted off into other matter and before long they were at a river. She discovered this by almost walking right into the water. She froze when her paw touched the water and pulled it back up so it looked like she was in midstep.

Cas did her one better and leaped gracefully, nonsensically into the middle of the stream. Not a particularly responsible thing to do, but the thought of that cool water insinuating itself beneath his thick undercoat motivated him without much remorse. Ye gods, why wasn't the whole pack down here? He groaned, buckling his legs and sinking up to his neck in blissful refreshment, quite forgetting how inappropriate such conduct was when accompanied by a Sister. Instead he laid quietly for a little bit, his eyes closed, and thought about fish.
Then one of his golden eyes winked open, peeping curiously over to Taiyou. "We're probably going to have to walk upstream a bit."

Taiyou couldn't help but giggle when he plopped down right in the middle of the stream. He looked so funny there, wallowing in the water like a big pig or something. The imagery made her burst out laughing and she slipped into the stream herself without meaning to. She kept laughing as she spluttered and came up. then she recovered herself after a minute or two and gave her fur a shake. She splattered water all over him and chuckled. "I think you're right. We probably scared all the fish off." She snickers. This was the most fun she'd had in ages.

Cas beamed at her for a moment before ducking his head back under the water in a fit of bashfulness. This was just...odd. And she was very different from any female he had ever met. Coming up again, with that demure look he tended to use to cool off angry Sisters, he wagged his tail slowly, sending arcs of fat water droplets wantonly about behind him. "Any fish that stayed through that, you probably wouldn't want to eat." Grinning again, he sloshed back to the bank, still awfully big for being so thoroughly soaked, and engaged in a thoroughly satisfying shakedown. "There's a bend up ahead, anyway," he added, watching her, "with some rock stuff that fish are liable to sleep behind. Lee of the current, and all."

Taiyou stayed in the water for a few moments longer, chuckling when he ducked down. Then after he'd shaken himself off she got out and proceeded to do the same. She was scrawnier when she was wet, but she was far from small. She shook herself again, then padded up against him. She stared down its length lazily, then twitched her tail. "You're right, lets go." She says cheerfully and bumps up against him companionably before she starts to trot further downstream. her tail was lifted up a little, giving him a good view of her rump.
