As the sun finally dipped below the horizon, a screen of leaves rustled, then was brushed aside. The doe that emerged might have blended into the falling darkness, were it not for the glowing blue markings on her sides. The moth that fluttered silently at her side was much more suited to slipping about unseen. Lightstream tipped her head back, to gaze up at the dark sky and the stars starting to poke through the blackness, the little pinpricks of light whose movements she knew so well. She padded to the center of her little clearing, and cranked her head back to gaze up at the stars. A splash of water made a flat sheet of mud malleable again, and she dipped her head, tracing the path of a star with just the tip of her horn.

Forever the wanderer, forever the rogue. Blue rain was not the type to easily settle... too jittery and sometimes characterized to be like a river, going with the flow but always moving... never staying in one place for too long. He was more of a night traveler, choosing to use the day to laze about... always seeking out the night and the comfort of the dark. This was his domain, his blueblack dark pelt was justice enough to that. It let him easily move through the night, seeming to be nothing more than a few bright wisps dancing through the dark.
His memory serving him correctly, this patch of land he had not visited before. Rains hooves patted lightly through the watery terrain, the plip plop a normal sound through the muddy banks of his homelands. Gold eyes deceiving him, he swore he just saw something bright ahead of his path... Or was it? It did not seem to be a firefly, fireflies glowed yellow. This, this was a blue similar to his own during the day... a comforting color he knew all too well.
Curious, Blue rain stepped forward... approaching the light. It grew larger, more bright... it was as if the moon chose to walk the earth this night. What was it doing though? Not wanting to startle the other, he chose instead to approach.... rather noisily so they knew he was arriving.

Normally, Lightstream was oblivious to any and all noise and movement while she worked, relying on Seeker to warn her of threats.
But it was impossible, even for her, to miss that noise. The moth came fluttering out of the trees sedately, 'not a threat' flickering dimly in her mind. Glowing blue eyes turned to survey the buck, casting light quite an impressive distance in the darkness. "Hello there." Lightstream's voice suited her -- soft and breathy, almost a loud whisper. "You're up late."
Most kimeti spent the days wandering the Swamp, and slept at night. Few kept the reversed hours she did.

The doe was not territorial, this is a good sign. She was not chasing him out, kicking and nipping at his heels... at least not yet. He wasn't really aggressive enough to hold down a territory to call his own, it was part of why he was considered himself a wanderer. The bright hue of her blue took some adjusting to, it was as if she held a piece of the sun within herself. "I could say the same for you." Rains voice was medium tone, not too deep a pitch but just enough to rumble and yet be whimsical in its own way. He gave a friendly smile, realizing she probably was not used to seeing others up this time of night. "I travel at night. Less confrontations this way. Easier to blend in." A blue ear flicked at this.
"What were you making?" He pondered out loud, eying whatever she was scrying in the mud.

"I spend most of the night awake. I find the heat of the day too oppressive." She smiled at him; her eyes were so bright that when she blinked, the entire clearing seemed to dim for a moment.
"Ah, I do know what you mean. The crocodiles do not seem as aggressive at night, and other kimeti are all asleep." Both beneficial to a kimeti who was more of a loner.
At the query, she looked down at the mud, then back up at him. "A map of the stars. I have been tracing their movement and patterns for many moons now." She wasn't tired of it at all; the map was quite large, though she'd only traced the paths of the largest and brightest stars.

He laughed with a friendly tone at that. "True that, keeps my hide without blemishes and teeth marks." He flicked his abnormally long tail and strode.. a little closer. She seemed friendly enough, enough to perhaps get in close?
"Mind if i take a look? Ill mind my step." He would rather not irritate her, plus he would feel horrible for messing up a work of art. "I see the stars quite often myself, but i never really paid attention to which ones were larger and how they move."

"In my dreams, I see the stars wheeling in the night sky. Their movements in the waking world are subtle and slow, but I feel that there is much to learn from studying them." She stepped aside to let him see, with her head tilted. "There are too many stars for me to track in one lifetime, so I have focused on the largest, brightest, and fastest."
