This is a fanfiction I've wanted to do for a long time, but never got the chance because I was working on a short story that will be in publication by 2011. Now that I'm done with that, I can work on this fic. BUT, there are some things I wanted you guys to know first.

This is a fanfiction that may have some mature themes, including lesbianism, committed by a character you do not expect to commit it. It may be OOC for the character, but she didn't have much character development other than she's hunting Danny Phantom and that her father is working on jobs (kind of obvious who it is by these traits). I just wanted to create more development with her, as well as the OC present in the fanfiction. Yes, there is an OC in this fic.

I will probably only post about five or six chapters of this fic, which will also be posted on fanfiction.net if I get any reviews here in the guild. The rest of the chapters will be present on the website. It has not been published on fanfiction.net. Ineed some critique for this, and I hope to get some here. Thanks, and happy reading!

Chapter I

It has been an almost silent five months since Vlad Masters became mayor of Amity Park. It was a discomfort to the Casper High student, Valerie Gray, who sat on the picnic table that was near the front of the school. She hadn’t been, what the people of the town called, ghost fighting for the past three weeks. She had seen the ghost boy around, floating about and (in her mind) craving for destruction, but she hadn’t really bothered. It was unnecessary and it would get her grounded a lot more. She had been in trouble doing it, since her father truly cared for her safety and life. Her father could not stop her though. In her mind, she could only stop herself willingly when it came to letting the ghost boy have his freedom, and his desire to be truly heroic. He was no hero to her. She considered him an air-head, a con. No ghost will ever be a hero. They were all just punks who wanted to destroy the city to the ground, or just cause destruction in order to make a fight, all in their own will.

She looked at the front of the school, which the grass around the school and before the streets were stepped on by the other kids. Some of them were cloaked with shade from some of the trees, and some stood around in the sun and chatted. Others were sitting on the other picnic tables. Valerie glanced at the popular kids. Paulina, Dash, Kwan, Star, and whoever else was within the group, chatted away in some unintelligent conversation.

They used to be her friends, but now she despised them, since they scorned her for not being so rich anymore, and living in an apartment. Even though the apartment was much roomier than her last one from months ago after the ghost boy destroyed her father’s career, it made no excuse to make up their minds. Valerie hated them to the core, but at the same time, her life had been harder without them. She wanted someone or something new in her life. Someone or something that could bring her a life worth living for.

“Excuse me. Is it okay if I sit here with you?”

Valerie looked beside her and saw a girl. Valerie blinked at her, for she had never seen her before. The girl had a heart face with a small nose. She had very bright gray eyes that touched Valerie, as if the eyes had the definition of frailty and pure innocence. Around her eyes was a reddish color, almost as if it looked like eye-shadow without the glitter or shine. Her black hair reached to her waists. She wore an outfit Valerie would see in the “goths” at the school, but the girl didn’t look stereotypical. She wore a loose black shirt that had what seemed to be an album cover of a band called “The Banshees”. Her pants were black and form-fitting, and she wore black sneakers with white shoelaces.

Valerie replied with a polite tone, “Sure. Go ahead.”

Valerie saw the girl sit by her and watched her put her black backpack on her lap. She took out a piece of paper, and Valerie curiously looked over her shoulder to see what it was. It was just her schedule. Valerie stopped looking over, and watched her fold the schedule and put it in her pocket. Her arms then hugged her backpack and sighed. Valerie sighed silently with her.

She then asked her, “Where are you from? I’ve never seen you before.”

The girl replied to Valerie in a quiet voice, “I’m from another country. I moved here two weeks ago, but this is my first day of school.”

Valerie blinked, a bit impressed. There weren’t very many people who were from other countries. She then asked in curiosity, “What country are you from?”

“I’m from a part of Europe,” the girl replied, “I know I don’t sound it. My ancestors were Italian and most of my family came from America. It was just my parents were historians, and I was born there by accident.”

Valerie nodded in reluctance. She already considered the girl strange as to her origin, but the rest of her she couldn’t judge. She introduced herself to the girl, although feeling awkward since she did not have a friend for a while.

“I’m Valerie. Valerie Gray. What’s your name?”

The girl replied with a small smile, “My name is Molly. Molly Webspinner. Nice to meet you Valerie.”

The two ladies shook hands, and Valerie smiled back. She began to think that after that moment, she would not see Molly again. It probably would last the entire year of school. They stopped shaking hands, and Valerie noticed that Molly’s eyes looked at the skies, as if she was staring into space. She was thinking about something. Was she thinking about her family maybe? Valerie sighed to herself. Now she was beginning to think of her father. In wonder as to what he may be doing at the time. He was probably driving to work.

Valerie heard the bell ring, and saw that Molly was out of her trance. She took out her schedule from her pocket and unfolded it, reading it. She stood up and picked up her backpack, and Valerie did the same. The two girls walked toward the school building. They went inside the halls and saw the other children scattering to their classes. They were able to follow the other girls and boys to their first class.

Once they entered, the class was almost full except about five or six empty seats. The teacher wrote his name on the board. “Mr. Lancer” it read, and he also wrote down the date of the day. He then wheeled and took notice of Molly.

“Ah, I see you’re the new student here, correct? I’m Mr. Lancer, your English teacher. Please, have a seat.”

Molly looked around the class, and found a desk in one of the back rows. She set her backpack down underneath her desk and opened it. She took out a notebook, a folder, a planner, and a mechanical pencil. She put them all on her desk and waited in silence for the class to begin.

Molly felt a slight discomfort in her abdomen. She had done nothing for it, and ignored it. She gets this discomfort often, and it wasn’t from the womanly month. Five days from that have passed. She didn’t notice herself become paler than she should, but she knew it might’ve been noticed from someone else in the room. She figured to herself that it might’ve been just her nerves. She had just moved to America after all. Life was going to be a bit different. She lifted her notebook and looked at her schedule.

Valerie took notice of Molly taking out her schedule, and was able to read it from where she was. From what she read, this class and P.E. were the only classes they had together. Well, they had lunch of course, but that never counted anyways. She then looked at Molly and noticed her skin tone being a bit off. She shrugged to herself, thinking Molly was probably nervous about moving here. The two girls then noticed the last kids of the class come in through the door, and Mr. Lancer looked sternly at those kids. He began to speak to the class.

“All right class, today we start on one of my most favorite books to read here for the school, The Scarlet Letter.”

Valerie sighed and then looked at Molly, who was listening to the lesson. She looked at the board without really paying attention. She then glanced at Molly with the corner of her eyes. She hoped to herself that they will be able to talk more, to start a friendship. She then began to think to herself that there may be a minimal chance of that happening. They’ll only be friendly strangers to each other, and nothing more. Still, she didn’t give up that hope.

Molly looked at Valerie, and they were facing each other. She wheeled her head back at the board, but then lowered her head in dismay, tapping her fingernails. Molly hoped that she and Valerie would make an acquaintance kind of relationship, and then have some development. It was something that she had wanted for a while. She never really had any friends at where she came from. The friends that she did have though, she would need to create a séance to contact them again. She did not want that at all, and would rather see eyes and lips and feel and hear a beating heart. Even though they’ll probably be strangers for a while, she hoped that it will grow more and more in the future.
