Coolbreeze had finally come home.
She wasn't sure how long had passed since she'd left. Countless days and nights; she'd been on a mission of sorts; Coolbreeze was always looking for ways to do better at her given duties in the pride, and so once the numbers of healers had gone up, she'd decided that it would be the best time for her to leave. There were countless prides and packs in existence, and Coolbreeze hoped that they would have things to teach her.
She was not disappointed. With a new knowledge base and a healthy knowledge of herb lore and recipes, Coolbreeze was now even more confident in her abilities as a healer and midwife, and she was ready to come home to her pack-family.

Skygaze had spent the entirety of her life in the Peke Na. She'd never left the safety of the pack; not once had she made a journey from the sanctity of the Peke Na. Her own father was a rather rambunctious traveler, scouting far and wide. She was fond of her papa, that was for certain, and she did adore all her siblings that he provided to her. He was a wise wild dog, and she learned much from him.
Even now, at adolescence, she was confused as to what she wanted to do with herself. She didn't provide much of anything to her pack, and it was starting to bother her. Skygaze didn't want to be a nothing; she wanted to be someone worth remembering.
When word circulated that a long-gone member of their pack was going to be returning from a long, long sabbatical from her duties in the pack, Skygaze was excited. Perhaps this stranger would have some advice as to what Skygaze should do with her life.
Sitting near the pack border as she had been the past week, Skygaze kept a watchful eye out for anyone she didn't recognize. She was absolutely excited about the return of the long-gone member of her pack.

As she drew nearer to the packlands, Coolbreeze couldn't help but feel a little flutter in her chest when she thought about seeing the friends she'd missed. Would they have started families of their own? Coolbreeze couldn't wait to see, couldn't wait to settle in, couldn't wait to share her knowledge, perhaps even take on an apprentice.
Drawing closer to the packlands, she spotted a stray wild dog. The female was pretty, and was likely related to Strongear in some way; the thought of that brought a smile to her face; he'd started a family! It made Coolbreeze happy; her pack was growing in numbers, and that meant a strong, happy member base.
"Greetings," she called to the female. Part of her wondered if this was a sort of welcoming party; she'd sent word ahead that she'd be returning home in the near future.

Skygaze swept her gaze towards the wild dog that had called out to her. Instantly she perked, trotting towards the other female with a happy grin on her muzzle. "Greetings! I am Skygaze, daughter of Strongear. Are you Peke Na? I was hoping to catch sight of a member who is returning home after being gone a long, long time." Skygaze chattered in her excitement as she usually did; it was a habit, and one that she couldn't tamp down.
"I was hoping she'd have advice for me, since she'd been gone so long; I have yet to find a profession that I feel suits me," Skygaze flicked an ear and watched the stranger expectantly.

Coolbreeze laughed, the sound rusty as if she wasn't sure how to make the sound. She didn't laugh often, so when she did it felt strange even to herself. "It's a pleasure to meet a child of Strongear. I am Coolbreeze, and I am indeed returning to the Peke Na after being gone a long, long while." She paused a moment before continuing. "I left in search of new ways to better heal my packmembers."
Moving foward, Coolbreeze indicated that Skygaze should follow. "I am a Healer, you see, and it is important to me that I know as much as possible about healing my pack-family." She spoke of the members of her pack with great fondness. "I have learned what I needed to learn, and now I have come home." She grinned, breathing deep.
"I am finally home."

Skygaze laughed, prancing a bit in her excitement. "Tell me of what you've learned, sister!" She couldn't fight the giddiness in her voice; she was intrigued by the thought of learning all the new things that Coolbreeze had learned during her long time away from the pack. It felt good to feel excited about something, and Skygaze was happy at the chance to make a new friend. Most of the wild dogs she knew in the pack were her own relatives, and she did love them, but befriending someone who wasn't a family member was refreshing.
"Perhaps I will be a healer, too!" Skygaze chirped, excited.

Coolbreeze was amused by Skygaze's rambunctious nature. The thought of having a dedicated apprentice pleased her, and she gave a moments thought to taking Skygaze under her wing. She would have to get to know the younger packmate a bit more before she made such a decision. Such a thing wasn't to be taken lightly, after all.
Grinning at Skygaze, Coolbreeze dipped her head. "It is an admirable duty to have in the pack," she nodded, continuing forward. "What news do you have of the pack? Have there been drastic changes?"

Skygaze shook her head, then rolled her eyes. "You know my papa, he is forever bringing home new pups, more brothers and sisters for us all to look after. And my half-sister Sunwarrior gave birth to a litter of pups; one of them, Sunbreak, he has taken to following me around. He's such a striking little boy." She grinned fondly; it was obvious that Skygaze loved her huge family.
"As for major changes, there are none," Skygaze continued, almost prancing in her excitement. She was going to follow Coolbreeze from here on out; Skygaze was serious about learning to become a healer, and she would prove that to Coolbreeze as time went on.

Coolbreeze chuckled, "Some things will never change," she remarked about Strongear, "And at least he has enough love in his heart to care for all of you, hmm? That is fortunate." Coolbreeze picked up her pace, nose tingling with anticipation at finally returning home. She was getting more and more excited at the thought of seeing many familiar faces, and it was visible in the way she carried herself.
"Lets hurry," she barked, her swift walk turning into a run. She laughed as she left Skygaze behind, though a happy yowl broke free from her lips.

Skygaze laughed robustly, hot on Coolbreeze's heels. She answered the older wild dog's happy yowl with one of her own. This was a time to celebrate! A long-gone member of the pack had returned, bringing with her much knowledge. Skygaze was determined to learn what Coolbreeze had, but there was plenty of time to do so.
Now was a time for excitement, and as Skygaze escorted Coolbreeze back to the central packland, she couldn't help but feel a little envious of the time that Coolbreeze had spent away from the pack. Perhaps when she was older, she too would venture away to see what she could see.
