I am noticing more and more that plus size girls are starting to embrace the pinup look. Personally I love this look I enjoy the idea of looking sorta vintage in my apparel... I think the hardest thing for me to get past is the dresses... I have bought them but I am sorta afraid to wear them out? I dunno a little self conscious. I know that there have been times I have been out and seen a big girl dressed up and admired her. So what are your thoughts?

i havent been able to find any of the dresses in my size and dont trust myself to sew anything outside of costumes yet, but i did do my hair vintage and the rare once-in-a-blue-moon times i wear make-up i try to go vintage pin-up with it. now that was before i started my deadlocks, but now i have baby deads and betty page bangs, haha.
sorry for the washed-out pic, but this would give the idea.
Not trying to sound pervy or anything but do you have any links to this 'movement' or pictures of what you're talking about?

Well here is the thing... its not really about information but about what you're seeing in bigger girls all over certain sites like my space. It's becoming more of a personal choice the only viable proof I can offer you is when you're watching you tube looking for pinup makeup tutorials look at how many girls are "fluffy."
So I am answering your question with people are making it their personal choice to embrace this style... proof via myspace and youtube...
I call it a movement because I see more of it than ever... so that is my terminology... (sorry so use to defending EVERYTHING on gaia.. :3 )

Ok for dresses this is what I have found that works for me... I am in the same boat... as a big girl so what I have done is look for "FITTED" dresses and anything that hits right at the knee because it works for ME.. since I am on the taller side.. now do I wear this everyday no... would like to but can't... sad internships..
Anyhow my hair is growing out from a pixie cut so its all funky right now been wanting to do a U bang myself...
Ooh, I see. Thanks for the info! I went looking with an image search for 'plus sized pinups' and found some really beautiful clothing. sweatdrop
Yeah that kind of is what I do in my spare time... can find some nice things... speaking of such... I scored a Betty Paige Journal... today at goodwill still in shrink wrap!
