Unlike sunrise, sunset seemed to come in different colors. Ying-tai watched in fascination as the sky darkened in fiery reds. They eventually began to darken into deep purples, and then cool into blues. The juvenile smiled, enjoying the show from a spot she'd found. As she sighed, she climbed down to head for the den and bed. The family she'd found herself in liked all day-dwelling cubs in bed by the time the sun set, and she was already pushing her luck watching the sun set.
Sunset was a blessed time for Zeru. As the cub poked out of the den, she smiled at the growing darkness. Being albino meant she was confined to the darkness. The sunlight, sadly, hurt her eyes. They'd learned that very early on, when her eyes had opened. Now, she enjoyed a life in the dark. The night had many things to look at and listen to, things that weren't seen or heard in the day. Sitting outside, Zeru looked around, before spotting Ying-tai. She'd never actually seen her 'sister' awake before. "Hello, Ying-tai!"
The white and gray juvenile stopped by the den, blinking at the albino cub in surprise. "Zeru! I've never seen you awake!" Indeed, she never had. She was always asleep before Zeru got up, and Zeru was always asleep before she got up. "I've always wondered what you're like... One of us is always asleep..."
"Yeah, we are..." The cub went up to Ying-tai, smiling at her. "So what's the daylight world like? I can't visit it, 'cause the sun hurts my eyes... I don't know what day birds sound like, or how the sun feels, or.. Anything, really. I only known the night, and this area in front of the den." Ever a good cub, Zeru stayed near home as she'd been told by her father. She couldn't see much very well, anyway, so it was just as well to stay near home. Less likely to get hurt.
Ying-tai thought about it, then smiled. "Well, the sun is warm... And the birds sing a sweet, lilting song... Everything is bright and colorful, between the trees, the water, the frogs, the birds... It's breathtaking!" Then she looked at Zeru. "What about the night? What's it like when the sun goes down?"
Zeru listened inently, letting out a sound of awe at Ying-tai's description. When the other white lion questioned, the albino settled to sit. "Well, the moon casts a pale glow on everything, unless the moon hides. It grows and shrinks every night, and it's full for three nights at a time. The stars are all rally bright, and you can find pictures in them! I found a lion one night! You can hear giant fluffy birds called owls at night, too, as they fly around all quiet, hunting little mice... It's kinda eerie..."
Ying-tai let out a quiet 'wow'. "I wish I could stay up at night... That'd be so cool!" Her ears pricked, before she looked up at a call from the den. There stood Mle, watching the two with amusement. Ying-tai smiled sheepishly first at him, then Zeru. "I gotta go, it's past bed time..." Getting up, she hurried off to the den to sleep.
Zeru let out a sigh, watching Ying-tai go. She waved a paw at Mle, then went and found a spot to stare at and study the sky. Tonight she'd try to find the lion again... Or the hunter guy she'd been told about by an owl.
