Bonus Chapter: The Elixir of Light

Frost padded impatiently in circles, his massive paws treading silently across the smooth, stone floor.

He was unsure of how long it would take, for Nikolas and Sonata to return with their findings, but he felt almost certain that it wouldn't be unrealistic to expect their return soon.

The massive Arcanine paused, watching out the window with silent, worried eyes. If they returned empty-handed, their search would amount to nothing, and they'd have to start over again. It had taken so long just to find word of this; to find another path worth taking would take all the longer.

"You're going to wear a hole in the floor, Frost." A quiet voice called from the doorway. "You're as bad as your uncle."
Frost turned to face Nikolas as the Banette simply emerged through the door, his body slowly disconnecting from the shadows. "Have you any news?" He demanded to know, narrowing his dark eyes. He approached the desk, sitting down to face the Banette, who settled down atop the steel surface.

Nothing within the room could be flammeable while Diablo had been there, and it remained as such while Frost made his home there. To have a large amount of wood and paper around an Arcanine was just asking for trouble.

Nikolas nodded seriously, motioning with his hands for the Fire-type Guildmaster to settle down. "It exists; we're absolutely positive." He announced proudly. "Sonata and I searched through all the records of the guild; we even took a look around the records of the other guilds, although you didn't hear that from me..." His voice trailed off at the disapproving glance from his Guildmaster. He was supposed to get special permission to look into the logs of other guilds.

"Don't give me that look! It was necessary!"

"How, may I ask, was it necessary to go through the records of other guilds without their knowledge? Just because we're at peace with the other guilds, doesn't mean that we have to go around earning their mistrust." Frost scolded, his ears flat with anger.

"Because combined, the records gave us the exact coordinates of the flask, it's contents, and it's effects! We know where it is, and what it does!" The Banette's voice rose almost an octave with excitement. "This could prove the cure to the P.T. Virus!" He added, his golden pupils fixed on the Arcanine before him. "We'd never have to deal with Nico again!"

Frost's eyes widened in shock. "There's got to be a downside to this, Nik. Nothing is ever that easy, you know." He sighed, shaking his head. They had to be sensible about this. There was no sense in getting excited over something that, in the end, could prove to be utterly worthless, or worse, dangerous.

At this, Nikolas looked quite a bit less excited, his expression changing to a grimace. "...As it turns out, the flask isn't really a flask. It's a sacred vial, hidden deep in the Northern mountain range. There used to be an ancient tribe of some sort there, but they died out years and years ago, according to the records. Now all that's left is the vial itself, and the guardian that protects it."

The Arcanine grimaced. "Guardian?"

"There wasn't much on it, other than to say that it's ultimate purpose is to protect the vial."

Frost turned away, looking out the window once more. "...Then it's worth looking into. Get ready; we'll be leaving for the Guild of the Sun in an hour."

Frost & Nikolas & Solaris

"-vial could be cure for the P.T. virus." Frost continued, watching Solaris' expression change from interest to delight. "Thing is, though; it's supposed to be a sort of... some sort of 'all-cure'. It's like a super-powerful healing serum. We've looked through every record that we can find, and there's nothing to suggest limits to it's strength. It may or may not work, and the guardian who guards it poses a pretty big risk to take, considering our lack of knowledge on it."

Solaris frowned slightly, thinking. His single tail swished behind him, his eyes narrowing suspiciously. "So there's a magical vial of this... stuff... that has the power to cure or heal every injury and disease in the world?"

"That's the idea of it, yes." Nikolas replied, his golden pupils fixed on the violet Espeon.

"...So really, we have three main scenarios here? It doesn't exist, it doesn't work, or it's really the cure we're looking for. How do we know which is right?" He asked, still frowning. He shot a swift glance at Frost, who shook his head.

"We can't really know for sure, until we have it ourselves. All we can really do is hope that the guilds' archives are reliable and accurate." Frost answered, his thick, fluffy tail draped across his paws for warmth. The Guild of the Sun seemed surprisingly chilly compared to his own.

"Then we'll just have to find out for ourselves. We'll bring my guild with us, I think; it's too risky to go alone." Solaris decided, turning and hopping down from his desk.

Moments later, the Espeon reached up with both paws, and pulled sharply down on the alarm switch.

Frost and Nikolas blinked in unison, each surprised by the sudden decision. This probably wouldn't end well. It never did.

Chad + Leo

Chad and Leo arrived first to the sound of the alarm. This was the first time something like this had happened since they joined the guild.
"What's going on?"
Leo looked around the room. There was Guildmaster Solaris, and a bunch of people he didn't know. Most likely from other guilds. He decided to stay quiet and wait for orders.

OliverqwertyChuck

Team Cupric was still recovering from the general excitement that last week had provided--it wasn't usual for someone to be in combat against nine legendaries, including Darkrai himself. Of course, Chuck still "really really really REALLY!" wanted to go, knowing that exciting things were going to happen. In the end, they decided on having Oliver accompany him.

And so, the Poliwhirl and the Charmander walked into the Main Hall a few minutes after the alarm was sounded.

Indigo, Leaf and their new addition Honey, the Combee, were playing around the Training Field when they heard the emergency bell.

“Looks like there’s another emergency,” Indigo said.

“Again,” Leaf said with a slight groan. Honey was flying around with excitement.

“Can I come, Can I come,” Honey asked multiple times. Indigo and Leaf looked at each other and nodded.

“Sure Honey,” Indigo said. Honey flew around in circles cheering. Indigo and Leaf chuckled. Then the trio made their way to the Main Hall

Azra & Gary

Azra giggled madly as Gary's pink tongue slowly licked her face, and then stopped, blinking once with his emotionless, wide eyes.
"..." He yawned, as though tired, but didn't do much else other than stare.
Despite his utterly bizarre ways, and his state of mentality, which most would consider just plain stupid, Azra thought he was a perfect companion to explore with. He wasn't afriad of anything, and he never objected when she wanted to play pretend and be explorers.
She shifted Gary so that he sat on her back, and was about to head off, when she heard the alarm.
Shocked, she realized that she could answer it herself. She had Gary with her; that made it safe enough, right? It would be so exciting to find out what answering the alarm was like!
She raced off, not bothered by the weight of the Slowpoke on her back.
Moments later, she was squeezing into the room, past a lot of the older members. Her crimson eyes were wide, and she waved at Frost, recognizing his scent. What a funny place to see him; maybe he had exciting things to say~

Noelle & Tiki

The team was so lazy. Lazy, lazy lazy. And they had to do something about it. Tiki had sprinted out of his box this morning as a Rattata, and woke everyone up by smacking them on the head with his tail. Only Noelle was really motivated to go though, she felt extremely guilty for not doing anything.

The alarm was rung, and the guild was suddenly more active than usual; that's how it always was and that's how it always will be. The guild was eager to help and without an attitude like that, everything would be a lot different. "Oh man! I haven't heard an alarm for a while! They're usually quite common." Noelle stretched as she arrived on the scene. "I believe there were a couple in the past month or so. I don't know where you were but I just didn't feel like attending." Tiki said nonchalantly. It was a guild member's duty to help the guild though! ...Wasn't it? That's why the alarms were rung, right? To get help?

Tiki morphed into a Rattata, like he did often although it was not his official preferred form. Because being a purple blob sure was not practical in situations like this. "As usual, I came to observe and learn; not to fight. Although... I'll try and be better about it though, when the need for me to fight arises, because I come and just do nothing, and I do happen to have somewhat of a conscience." Tiki rambled, pacing the lengths of the room thinking.

Frost & Nikolas & Solaris

Frost nodded slightly, glancing at some of the Pokemon around them that he recognized. Azra and Gary were right there, the Riolu waving at him. He twitched an ear, to show he'd seen her, but said nothing.
Solaris leaped up onto the desk once more, looking at his guild members, who'd swarmed into the office to wait for instructions.
"Long story short, we've found evidence of a holy liquid sort of thing that could be used as a vital weapon against Nico. We have to go find it, and we need your help." The Espeon explained, lashing his tail as he stood. He glanced at Frost, and the Arcanine looked uncomfortable for a moment, meeting the Espeon's gaze as he realized that Solaris wanted him to further explain so that the Sun Guild understood where they were headed, and why they were needed.
"The... the liquid is in a sort of ancient flask; a sort of sacred vial, if you will. The vial's deep inside a cave, located in the middle of the Northern mountain range. The mountains themselves aren't much of a problem, but there are other things, within the cave, that might pose a problem, mainly being the sacred guardian, who defends the shrine. We don't know much about the guardian, other than the fact that it's powerful, and that it's duty is to protect what we need to take." Frost continued, flicking his large ears back as he looked over at Solaris. The older Guildmaster seemed almost excited. Frost couldn't blame him for feeling that way, but he himself couldn't help but feel nervous instead.
"So we're heading up into the mountains, as a group, and going into this cave to find the shrine. We have to go in, fight the guardian, grab the vial, and get out. It won't be easy, but I think with a larger group, it shouldn't be too much of a problem." Solaris finished for the Arcanine, his violet eyes almost glowing with pride; finally he could do something worthwhile. Not even Alfred could find something nasty to say if he found a way to cure Nico's virus, and defeat him.

{{ Post here, and then go straight to the Sacred Shrine. }}

Azra & Gary

Azra grinned broadly at the sight of Frost. He was so biiiiiiig! How'd he get that big? He was almost as small as her when he was with Team Stormcloud!
Her smile faded a little as Solaris started to explain. Weapons? She didn't know who this Nico person was, but from what they were saying, he sounded dangerous.
...Why would they want to cure someone of a virus, if they were enemies? That didn't make any sense.
The reassuring gaze of Frost made her smile again, though.
She'd tag along; Gary could go with her. It would be just like playing explorers, only a whole lot better!

"WAIT FOR UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUS!"
Doku came galloping like a Ponyta with Silvia close behind.
Dumbass slept through the alarm, so Silvia had to wake him up.

Sam & Puer & ASAR

The trio trotted into the main hall in time to see everyone else leaving. None of them were happy, none of them were in a good place with themselves. Well, ASAR was; he always was. He probably couldn't be in a bad place.

Sam was, of course, angry at Albus. His temper had yet to subside even after weeks had passed. In fact, if anything, it had taken an increasingly aggressive turn. William had intended to come along, but when he couldn't bring Laura along with him he decided it would be safer if he stayed. Lia had shifted her residence into the team room, lest Albus set the guild on fire at some point. He had been having nightmares on occasion... Some had him fighting. She had barely slept.

Puer, of course, shared Sam's frustrations with Albus, though more in the form of worry than rage. His was lead more to Tolin who had locked himself in the guild of Rebirth. He'd only gotten a brief nod from Serrin who explained that "everything was perfectly fine" and that he "shouldn't worry about it". Not that that did much as he marched on, after Solaris on what was no doubt another idiotic quest.

Frost & Nikolas & Solaris

Still a little shaken over the whole ordeal of Solaris having swallowed and destroyed their chance at taking Nico down, Nikolas was a little bit silent and moody, handing out the rewards to the poor souls who'd had to follow the guildmasters and himself through the mountains, and into a dark, humid cave for what was now a useless reason.

Nik glanced at the Guild, and sighed, shaking his head. "...H-h-how is it that you m-managed to swallow th-the vial in the first place?" He asked Solaris, before recieving a sharp smack to the skull from said Espeon's tail. "OWW! What was that for?!"

"Being mean!" Solaris answered childishly, flattening his ears.

Nikolas grunted in response, and floated off through the doors, to where his guildmaster was waiting. They left together, feeling ultimately depressed by the turn of events.

I told you they were coming, didn't I?

Chad + Leo

The duo trudged into the guild. The entire mission was a big waste of time.
"That was pointless"
"Agreed."
"At least we get something for it."
"Meh."
The team then proceeded to walk back to their team room for some rest.

Era & Ethfael

Ethfael watched the Weavile and Frost finish off the Milotic and nodded, satisfied. It was a very lucky thing that the Weavile and Zori had shown up; without them it would have taken far longer to defeat the Milotic. "It's too bad that we always end up fighting," Ethfael murmured quietly. If someone didn't jump straight into danger all the time, maybe it could be avoided. Ethfael turned around, disregarding the matter to find Era. The Pichu was still standing beside the Riolu from before, watching her with a smile. "Sorry I didn't come back sooner," he said softly so as to not wake the Riolu, nodding a greeting to the Slowpoke.

"It's alright," Era said, "You did what you could, which is far more than I could have done. I just tried to be useful for something while everyone else managed to leave a mark on the other Pokemon." She smiled half-heartedly, a little down about her uselessness, but they were interrupted by a shout from the Weavile. They both turned to watch as Solaris was thrown across the room by the animated pile of rocks, and the vial with him. The Guildmaster landed and much to everyone's dismay, had swallowed the precious Elixir of Light. "How did he?" Era mumbled in disbelief, but Ethfael silenced her with a look since Solaris was already being scolded by Frost and Nikolas.

"Come on Era," he said softly, "We should get back to the Guild."

Era nodded, leaning over to glance at Azra before they went ahead. "Take care," she whispered to both the sleeping Riolu and her Slowpoke companion. The Riolu had started to grow on her somewhat. Then she and Ethfael headed back to the Guild, dejection evident as they went. It was disappointing to know that the mission had all been for nothing.

They arrived back at the Guild shortly, and followed the others inside. "At least there was nothing too strange this time," Ethfael said, "It could have been far worse."

"You're right," Era said, trying to make the best of it. "It could have been worse." They both laughed a bit at the irony, and then wandered off to rest up for another day.
