Serenity pushed back her hood and admired the view. She'd made it to the top, or close enough, after long hours of walking interspersed with burst of flight. Even with no one around, she had still felt uncomfortable being off the ground for long periods of time in her skirt. Her coat kept out the cold, but only minimized her skirt flying about in the wind. Near the precipice of the mountain, however, the crag that extended to the very top protected a small lake from the worst of the wind, though it had frozen over for the winter. Unbuttoning the top of her coat, she shivered once as she pulled a pair of ice skates out, rebuttoning quickly after.
She'd seen them in the marketplace the day before, and they brought back memories so sharp she bought them without really thinking about when or where she might use them. In the valley, winter was rarely so cold as to freeze the lakes enough that they were safe to skate on, but she remembered this mountaintop lake from a summertime visit.
Padding across the snow to the lake's edge, she balanced awkwardly against a frozen, leafless tree to get the skates on. The snow had ceased falling halfway during her trip up the mountain, and the sky now shone a perfect blue. Serenity paused before stepping onto the ice and looked out again over the cliff. Dead browns and dull crimsons of the late fall dominated the landscape of the valley, untouched by the snow that only turned to rain in the lower altitudes. Glancing again to the sapphire sky, she set out on the ice, gliding along the perimeter.

Ashura had never been fond of cold or the snow. It was all so deeply freezing and it always made him feel like he was on the verge of dying from it. If it hadn't been for that Espion and his partner telling him to go see for himself just how wonderfully beautiful the scenery was in its pure white cloak he would be at home, curling ever so content underneath the kotatsu while eating oranges... and sleeping... and doing all those things he couldn't do outside while struggling to survive the temperature. Thank the kami that his robes where designed in such a manner that could keep him almost as warm as he'd like to be. Why didn't the two drifters note to the fact it was going to be that way?
And yet there was nothing he could do but surrender to his fate. Maybe that was the kami's will after all. Maybe there was something important he had to do there. He was a traveller after all; always seeking new sights and experiences like he should be. So, complaining about the bitter cold aside he should better keep his eyes open and on the lookout for anything exceptional.
Speaking of exceptional things it didn't take him too long to notice a constellation besides himself that seemed to brave the bitter cold. He wasn't entirely sure by the distance in which he was in but it appeared to be a female, draped in a cape, gliding gracefully across the frozen surface of the lake. The first thing that he noted was the how white she appeared to be; almost as white as the snow itself, and the way she was flying over the ice made him silently wonder if she was a spirit or a fairy instead of an actual person.
Pulling himself together he quietly walked the rest of the distance to the lake, his eyes not once leaving the captivating sight of the young woman. Not wanting to disturb her one bit he sat on the snow by the lakeside, nothing but a few meters away from the point the ground gave it's place to the frozen waters. As long as he was allowed to observe he'd be content doing just that. He'd have yet another great story to speak about when he'd meet with his other dear friends again.
