Like every day after school Ariel was spending some times at the Destiny City's library. She finished her homework quickly and now she was looking on the shelves for interesting books about accounting. She found some and now she was sitting alone at the table with around 10 books. She was so concentrated on the book she didn’t even realized she was alone on the library and for a Wednesday afternoon it was quite strange.

It was a staring contest. It always ended with a staring contest. The guardian couldn't help it if she was covered in fur, and therefore not fit to enter Destiny City's library. Sure, there were times that the manx had been tricked into almost thinking she was going to be allowed entrance, but then the door would always shut in her face. This usually ended up with the cat pressing her face up against the glass and making faces as if she was a 3 year old child.
However, today's staring contest seemed different. It almost seemed ridiculously short. However the current acting librarian seemed aggitated by something. Most notably, the lack of people. Abandoning her post, the woman shook her head before heading back towards her post at the main desk.
...but there's a senshi AND a youma in there!! the feline mentally whined as she pawed at the door. It sucked not having opposable thumbs at times like this.

Ariel felt strangely hot and cold at the same time. She finally put her noise outside the book and started looking around, maybe a window was opened. She couldn’t spot anything so she just went back in her book.
But then again, this strange feeling caught her. Bothered by it, because it was ruining her concentration, she stood up and walk around the table. No windows were opened. Another strange fact, there was almost no one in the library except her, the librarian at the front desk and some students too focused on their revisions to notice anything.
She wanted to ask the librarian if the air conditioner had a problem but the women looked kind of absent minded. So she decided to check on the door. She opened it, and then closed it carefully. She didn’t notice at all, the cat who took this opportunity to go inside.

The senshi is approaching!
All mental radars noticed this quite easily, and within a few seconds the cat almost seemed to be bouncing in place with excitement. Whoever was approaching the door was a senshi.
The feline took maybe half a second to take a look at the girl who had her hair in a very high ponytail before taking the other 2.5 seconds to slip into the building. The manx wasn't exactly made of pure stealth, but she was agile enough to get the job done without getting noticed. Rather quickly, she slipped away to a safe distance where there was a bookshelf. She had to make sure the librarian didn't see her. Once at her current hiding place, the cat's green eyes went back to the girl who had let her in.
What are you going to do? If she had a tail, it would have probably been flicking from side to side at the mental question.

The chilly feeling didn't disappear even with the door properly closed. She wanted to go back reading her books but the situation was strange, she could feel it even if she didn’t' know why. And her blood was boiling; she actually loved mysteries, as long as they could be explained by books or science of course. She didn't know yet that she will never be able to explain her own life with logical criteria.
She was walking around the bookshelves. She was didn’t know what she was actually looking for, something out of place probably, like a couple hiding in the library, it is not the place to be lovey dovey she thought, but some people like the atmosphere here. Something, something, she was walking now near the place where the little cat was waiting. “Something like….. a cat without tail” she was whispering, then continue walking . She stopped suddenly. “A cat without tail ?”

Said cat without a tail was looking at the girl. It wasn't a very animal-like look. No, it seemed much more intelligent, almost like a person looking to another person, green eyes upon the strangely colored eyes of the girl. The cat didn't say a word or make a sound. She was hiding from the librarian for one reason, but another reason was the fact cats did not speak.
Well, it was assumed cats did not speak.
Even though the girl had passed her by, the manx didn't seem inclined to move. Yet.
What are you going to do?

As she stopped her mind was working at 100%. “Why a cat is in the library?”
she thought loudly. And then her love for cats won other her concentration. She went back in front of the cat who didn’t move and started to caress her, she assumed it was a female from the look.
“What are you doing here little girl?” she said looking around if maybe the cat was someone’s, but they were alone, well not that alone but Ariel didn’t know yet.
She was absorbed by these amazing green eyes

The cat remained silent, but rather easily leaned her head into the caresses. Under normal circumstances, she would have been purring, but this was a library, and none could accuse the feline of breaking rules. Well, aside from the fact that she, a cat, was in the library.
However, someone else in the library was not necessarily as mindful of the rules. For a young lady's voice let out an absolutely terrified scream. She had good reason to be so noisy, so more than likely she wouldn't get reprimanded for it later.
Youma!
Grudgingly, ********* knew what she had to do. Pulling away from those WONDERFUL caresses, the small feline bolted forward a bit, paused, then looked back at this girl. This girl was a senshi, now would she act like one? Being a bit of an optimist, the feline bolted forward again, as if inviting the girl to follow her.

Someone was screaming, a terrifying scream, Ariel was so surprise she stood up in the direction of the noise. She had actually pretty good ears.
“What is this?” she said, but the time she was thinking the cat was moving. It was like she wanted her to follow.
“Hey Kitty wait! where are you going? It may be dangerous”. Ariel was not less courageous than anyone, but she didn’t like seeing animals being hurt. So she followed.

If ********* had a middle name, it would not have been danger, despite how frequently she ran into it. No, it probably would have been Hannah or something plain such as that. It would also require a last name in order to have a middle name.
Regardless, the manx followed the weird feeling she could sense. At times it was nice being a guardian, because it meant that ********* could sense youma and senshi and negaverse agents (oh my)! Easily weaving through the aisles of books that (in her perspective) stacked up to the ceiling, the feline eventually came across the source of the problem.
A young girl, probably no older than 13, was literally trying her hardest to keep a book away from her face. It would have been a bit more humorous if the book didn't seem to be struggling to eat the girl's face off with its fangs lining the edges of the pages.
"...somehow, that actually fits the surroundings..."

Ariel was still following the little cat, where was she going? She was so fast, the young girl almost needed to run to catch up between the aisles.
Then she stopped. Ariel froze, her brain couldn’t register what she had in front of her, and it was so irrational….. a book with fangs was trying to eat a girl who looked like a little younger than her.
“Wait, wait, what is going on? I am dreaming, this is a book, how come it has fang????”

The girl screaming for her life wasn't exactly paying attention, so it didn't hurt for the feline to give a very direct answer.
"That is because it is not a book, but a monster. A youma to be more specific." With that response, the tailless feline withdrew back into the depths of that particular aisle.
"However, now is a time to act... are you ready to act?"

Ariel at first didn’t realize it was the cat who spoke. She was looking right and left but no one else was here, and it was not the screaming girl who just said that for sure.
So she lowered the eyes and saw the cat lips moving, no way! She almost felt on her knees, the situation was totally unreal.
“A youma? Now, a cat talking? Ok actually I fall asleep while reading and I am now dreaming right? Because this is not possible, I never read it anywhere, I agree that animals have a good level of intelligence than humans or have emotions but speaking humans’ languages, it is not possible!!”
And she tried to pinched herself to wake up.
It was not working. "Ahaha" she laughed at herself like if she realized she was not dreaming, so she was becoming crazy.

Ah yes, the disbelief about the situation, the usual accusation of this being a dream (or a nightmare). All of it had been seen before. It somewhat came with the job of being a Guardian. Whether or not the girl followed her down that aisle of books, the manx had things she needed to do. Rather quickly, she pulled off a simple back flip, and two objects clattered to the floor. She left the phone on the ground for now, then picked up between her teeth the strange pen.
With her mouth full, she wasn't exactly able to speak. So instead, she trotted back to the girl and gently bumped her head against her leg. It was like she was silently saying Take this, please take this!

Ariel looked at the little cat puzzled, trying to analyze the situation. A book with fang was attacking a little girl; a cat without tail was talking to her and was now doing back flip making two objects appearing like magic…… and it looked like she was not dreaming.
The little cat was waiting for her to take a pen, well what looks like a pen. And the youma or whatever the cat called it……No way I am really admitting the cat spoke……….. was dangerous and Ariel couldn’t stay and just watched.
“I can’t believe I am doing it” she said and took the pen. “So what I need to do now?”
She was accepting what was happening, even if you can be sure she will look in every books she could find to explain this mystery.
