User Image If we don't know when we're sorry.

Cascade practically dragged on, completely put off by the other blue wolf's behavior. Her coat was still soaked and freezing, hindering her movements slightly. She'd worry about drying once she found a safe, dry place to occupy. It didn't take her long to find a shallow, abandoned den that was just deep and wide enough for her to curl up in, little more than a depression in the ground, between two big roots of a weeping willow. The rush of water beside her both soothed and frustrated her, because that water held what eluded her, fish. She swore up and down one day that she would have them, but she just lacked gills. She was no where near as good as other members of her family.

Which Victory Vaughn so callously pointed out. Just because she had trouble fishing didn't mean she was going to starve to death. She had filled out nicely. While she wasn't a particularly large wolf, she was thick and healthy. A rather good specimen, if she did say so herself.

It was rare that she let the words of others bring her down... But at the moment, she felt rather spurned and vulnerable. Damned him for being so stubborn and rude. If she had half a mind, she'd march right back there and scold him, but she just couldn't bring herself to it.

User ImageVaughn had sat and watched as he destroyed a female’s spirit this time and not the other way around, how he had gotten to this point he just didn’t know couldn’t comprehend such a development in his personality. Was it Sparks fault or was it his own, was his upbringing to blame or did he raise these urges in himself with no one to blame? Maybe it was a combination of everything in his life leading up to this and he was just pushing it along with this new female testing the waters of this new ‘evil’ world around him. He couldn’t allow this to happen… He was a good wolf! He was raised to be good, to be a warrior who falls in love and settles down…

But that hadn’t been destinies plan for him, not at all. And so now here he was picking on this helpless female who only wanted to help him… And he had thrown her failures in her face, but he couldn’t just go back and say sorry he couldn’t go back to the old ways so easily life just didn’t work that way he had to… Had to what?

Glancing around Vaughn’s gaze landed on the river, maybe he didn’t have to be NICE to her but he could… Maybe make amends and just not have her spirits destroyed. Getting up Vaughn’s low strength made him shake with the sudden shock of no food for so long but he forced himself into the river and grabbed a fish. He had thought it to be harder but he assumed maybe lady luck was on his side this time… Maybe. Getting the fish was the easy part Vaughn knew this, heading back to land with the little strength he had was the hard part… And finding that female!

Growling Vaughn held the fish in his mouth and ignored his protesting limbs and body he would find this female… He would give her this fish and then he would finally go to sleep and never wake up. He just had to do this one thing before he slept… This one thing…

Her ears swiveled at the sound of an approach, but she flat out ignored it. There was an old saying, assume made an a** out of me and you, but she ignored this as well, assuming that the approaching stranger was, in fact, Victory Vaughn. She had been offended and she had little desire to speak with him further, after she had tried to help him. Maybe it was childish to behave in such a manner, but she couldn't bring herself to face him, thoroughly embarrassed by her failure at something that should have been natural to her.

Yet, as he came closer... She couldn't bring herself to be completely rude. Or at least silent. She grunted slightly and turned her head away from the open, tucking it near the roots of the heavily leafed tree.

"Whaddayouwant?"

Gulping Vaughn tensioned up his body tightened with the need to go to sleep, ‘So close…’ His eyes wilted and his body stopped and started a few times before he was able to get close enough to Cascade to drop the fish and just drop down beside her. He hadn’t meant for this to be the plan he had meant to give her the fish then leave without a word and hopefully just blow away with the wind but with his luck? No of course not, this was just the perfect time to pass out…

"Whoop-de-doo, you caught a fish. Congratulations." She sighed as the familiar scent of slimy, scaly prey caught her sensitive nose. She hadn't expected him to settle down, but she knew he had been weak when she spoke with him earlier... It must have taken a considerable amount of energy for him to catch it and then wander all this way. With a sigh, she lifted her head and turned her gaze to the blue and white wolf.

"You should really eat that, you know. Get your strength up. You look pretty damned tired. That must have taken a lot out of you." His silence worried her.

Vaughn’s breath came in pants heavy and hot his body starting to heat from the cold cold water, he was stronger than this… And near a female that could easily rid him from this world at any moment, that would be a good thing right? ‘No…’ Taking in a deep breath Vaughn did his best to open his eyes and push himself up. Opening his eyes was easy but moving his body was not happening, glancing in the direction of Cascade Vaughn couldn’t help but let the many months of depression and sadness wash through his gaze.

Crumbling before a female of obvious strength was pitiful, he didn’t care if she killed him or liked him he just wanted to sleep forever, wanted the pain to stop.

"Dude..."

She stared at him in a rather dumbfounded, her blue, water-like eyes clouded with confusion. Why was he doing this? It made no sense to her why any creature would literally let themselves fall appart! The will to survive should have been strong enough to prevent this from happening to any creature! She just couldn't fathom why...

"Are you trying to kill yourself? Why are you doing this? You need to eat, you know? Or... You're gonna die, and then what? You shouldn't just roll over and take it. You look like you're stronger than that..."

She was stronger than that, Vaughn had trained his whole life to be stronger then this to not fall apart at just a jester but… Something had snapped in him something that wasn’t going to mend easily something that was killing him. Somehow summoning the power to let out a low growl Vaughn did his best to push the fish towards her; he had gotten it for her… He had worked his hardest and here she was just ignoring his effecters… Life was horrible, he could work and work and work and it would get him no where… He would forever be stuck as a pup.

“…Eat…” His eyes were glued shut, his body twitched in an odd way and he hoped for deaths sweet kiss to come swiftly… Oh who was he kidding, he didn’t care how long it took just as long as it took.

She stared at hm owlishly, feeling rather cross, which was almost completely uncharacteristic about her. What the hell was this fellow doing? She couldn't even fathom it, really, and she wasn't just going to let him roll over and expire. That wasn't like her, either, and she wasn't about to let him.

"I'm not eating until you do." She replied bluntly, crossing her forepaws as she nudged the fish back towards him. "Once you eat half, I'll eat half. No sooner, you got me?"

She didn't say anything further, just stared at him. Her blue eyes were burning like embers as she waited for him to either do as she said or mouth off again. He needed to eat, else he wouldn't last.

Smiling lightly Vaughn leaned forward taking half the fish into his mouth and biting into it, spitting it out Vaughn took in a deep breath and drew in what strength he had to start eating the half of fish. He didn’t want to live but he wanted to make up with this girl before he did… Before he allowed himself to go and finally be at peace with himself with the people around him… With the world. The eating was making him even sleepier though, and as his mind started to fog her knew if he wanted to stay awake to finish this he’d have to be in pain…

“Hurt me.”

She waited until she was sure he was going to eat his half before she made any motion to even taste her own. She pulled her half towards her with a paw, almost daintily, and tore a strip of scaly flesh from it's side, swallowing it in a quick gulp. By the moon, she wasn't even remotely sure what to do about this fellow, save give the situation her all.

"Why?" She blinked with confusion and sat up, one dark paw resting on her dead, half fish.

"Why do you want me to hurt you? What is wrong with you, huh?"

Growling Vaughn was about to push his fish away when the taste settled on his tongue, in his stomach and it was sooooo good! He needed more! Opening his mouth wide Vaughn took the rest of his fish into his mouth before chewing it quickly and swallowing it. His body twitched with the need for more and that was enough to wake him up to glare at this female. What was she doing? She could easy just take advantage of him and rid him of this world like he so pleased!

But first he needed more fish… Glancing to her fish Vaughn’s mouth started to water, he wanted it… He got it, he should have it… But he got it to get her to forgive him, had she done that thought?

“Forget about that I’m awake enough now, do you accept your fish or not?” The minute she said yes he was gone… He had to get more it just tasted too good not to have more.

"If you are trying to apologize, I'll accept that." She smirked, ignoring his grumpy attitude. He was hungry, just as she had suspected, and it amused her just how quickly he had eaten. She really wasn't that hungry, truth be told. A nest of plump voles had seen to that, after all. Nope, she didn't really need the other half of the fish, but she could easily guess that he did. He'd probably would protest if she tried to give it back... But hey, she had to keep at it, right?

"I won't fully accept it unless you eat this other half. Then I'll completely accept an apology, if that's what you're aiming for, Victory Vaughn." She grinned broadly and flipped the back end of the fish towards him. She'd hunt some small game, too, if he needed it. Whatever it took to make him healthy again.

Nodding Vaughn couldn’t even focus with the fish there, and the fact that she allowed him to have it was enough for him to jump at the chance of eating it which is what he did. Leaning forward he took the fish into his mouth and chewed quickly before swallowing again, easy enough. Letting out a content sigh Vaughn cold feel his stomach quickly need more though, what was wrong with him? He had been so close to finally not having to deal with this worthless life and then… This girl had come along.

“Why do you say my full name? Not even my parents use to say my full name…” It wasn’t like he cared he just had to keep her distracted while he figured a way out of this mess… what kind of mess was this anyway? Did he want to be away from her or what… He could easily do that, then why not…

"Oh, I dunno~"

She watched him demolish the second half before she could completely gather her thoughts. Good lord, he could eat, and she was glad he was doing so. Cocking her head slightly, her dark ears swiveled towards him and her tail thudded against the slightly dampened earth. He seemed more talkative, anyways, which was another good sign. Maybe he wasn't so bad, after all.

"I guess I just like it. It's unusual, in a goodish way. I've never known a wolf with two names, really, just one like mine. My whole family has just one name each, and most of 'em are pretty short, except for my father's, which is kind of long-ish and weird-ish. But like I said, the rest are more like mine, short-ish and to the point-ish." She grinned broadly, as if her explanation was somewhat humorous, though she doubted he would see it that way.

"Where you from, anyways? These parts at all? I'm a wee bit further south. Pretty nice pack, too! You'd do excellent there, what with the way you can fish. I envy that!"
