The More You Know
Well known for being cold and distant towards anyone who comes towards her, the students in Koorie's class would tell you to keep your distance from this Ice Queen. Normally incredibly serious about her studies and her music, her face holds her most typical expression; narrowed piercing red eyes that seem to cut through you, a small frown pulling her lips into thin lines, and the feeling that as you speak to her, you're really just wasting her time. What might come as a surprise for most of her classmates is the fact that this icy beauty wasn't always so heartless.
As a child, Koorie was well known for being incredibly sweet and caring, having a mild temperament and always holding a warm smile for those around her. She grew up in a loving home with her older brother, Suzaku, and her two parents. Together, they were the picture perfect house hold, with their occasional disputes and their tight bond to each other. The tightest bond she shared was with her brother, who she shared everything with and who she held as an idol and a roll model. That was why, when he mentally snapped one day and for no apparent reason murdered their parents, attempted to kill her with a nearly fatal shot aimed for the heart, and then blew his own brains out with the pistol he'd bought from the second hand store, Koorie's life changed forever.
She was ten when the incident happened, and it was an unwanted life changing event. When the paramedics found her in a pool of her own blood and tears as she struggled to stay conscious, they rushed her into the IC unit to save her life. Miraculously, after several blood transfusions and operations to mend together the damage the bullet had caused when it ripped through her insides and shattered against one of her ribs, she pulled through and survived. The media, of course, covered the incident for weeks, following on her recovery and reminding her at ever turned corner that she was now alone.... But that was 7 years ago.
Taken into care by her only 'available' family, her aunt and uncle payed to keep her at the hospital for as long as they could, sending her into the psych ward to make sure that she was properly cared for while they continued their world-wide business trips. During such time, Koorie grew serious about school work and learning to play musical instruments, coming to terms with the fact that the only one who will ever be there for her would be herself; she could count on no body but herself.
It was only recently this last year that Koorie finally found herself out of the hospital, able to re-enter society, but her experience changed her forever. Now incredibly antisocial, she refuses to let any close to her. Although her aunt and uncle are still taking constant business trips, they send her money to pay for food and upkeep of their rather large house, where she resides.
