Personality: Ruka is rather gruff in nature for such a young child. She’s sharp-tongued and curt, with a mouth on her that can match a teen’s. She will treat adults with respect, but if they insult her she will return the favor without a second thought. Her temper is extremely volatile and she is prone to violence, sometimes the smallest thing can set her off. She is also extremely protective of her twin, threatening -more than once- to kill anyone who dares to try and harm her. Despite all this, she’s a rather insecure child who tries her best to look after her twin. If you get to know her, you’ll find that she’s fiercely loyal, very motherly, and an overall sweet kid.
History: Ruka was born on the surface of the world with her sister Yuka. They showed the elemental powers inherent in their family. Their family was a group of nomads of a sort, constantly on the move to keep away from the hollows. Every year they would visit the Serene Gardens in the ruins of Karakura Town, hence their “tribe” surname Hana. One time when they went there, hollows attacked before they could reach the garden. The result was utter chaos. The twins were spirited away by their aunt and uncle.
For years they lived as best they could on the surface without visiting the gardens which was their time of peace. Without the rest time of the gardens, their aunt and uncle grew weary and old. They died in another hollow attack when the twins were 7, only having enough time to point them to the Underground before their death. With Yuka in tow, Ruka marched down into the depths of the Underground. Together, they found a home there and began to learn the manipulation of their powers to a greater degree. Ruka seeks only one thing: protect Yuka.
Weapon/Medium: A gold ring with a phoenix top it, wrapping its talons around a white orb. The orb often shifts within, like it’s glowing or full of clouds. When activated, the ring stretches and wraps itself around Ruka’s right arm like a snake. (Looks similar to this (one on the left))
She also carries a specially-made, child-sized katana from the 12th Division. She uses it to focus her powers.

Abilities:
-Manipulation and control over fire
-Lighting her fists and feet on fire
-Lighting her katana on fire
-The Vermillion Bird: An attack that drains all her energy. Ruka calls up an enormous bird of flame that will cause sever burns to whoever it touches.
-When working in conjunction with her sister, her attack power increases exponentially and she can utilize fire to a greater degree.

Although she is a child, her physical strength is enormous. It’s to the point where she can lift something five times her height and weight. Due to this, she often fights with her fists instead of her blade.
She loves frozen treats.
She loves to write, and carries around a small journal.
