Annabell: *is totally not psyched about hunting lessons, but dangit she needed some! Yawns and rolls over onto her stomach, prodding Prion* Oy. Hey. You 'wake?
Prion: *groans a bit at the prodding, before slowly opening his eyes, their glow lighting up a small portion of the tiny den* I'm awake. *he let out a yawn and tried to recall just where he was, and what was this horrible taste in his mouth...oh yes it was rabbit, how he hated rabbit*
Annabell: Good! *sluggishly gets to her feet and yawns again, stretching herself out* There's plenty of daylight to boot. Not sure where Triton is, but I bet we can follow our noses and figure it out. *Or find one of his kids; they were pretty easy to pick out, being the only blue/silver peeps about* He's the hunting trainer I think.
Prion: Why are we looking for him? *sleep still tugged at his mind, making remembering their deal the other day nearly impossible. Well either way it would be nice to get out of this den, standing Prion crawled out of the den, and was greeted by the morning sun and the scent of many wolves...oh no, that's not good at all, stomach rumbled at the thought of being surrounded by so many snacks*
Annabell: *gives him an amused look* What, forgot already? I'm gonna snag us some hunting lessons, remember? *shakes her head a little with a chuckle; silly thing, he was probably still groggy: and hungry too to boot by the sound of it!* He's a nice fellow I'm told. Really blue with lil' trails of silver, he'll be easy to find in all these autumn colors. *brushes past him to leave the den and greet the late afternoon*
Prion: Right...hunting lessons. *He disliked hunting so much, all that running and chasing, and lets not forget the trees, his ribs still hurt from the one that got in his way yesterday.* A blue wolf huh? *Prion wasn't really a far of blue, it was sort of dull tasting but silver, not silver was like a delicacy* Let look for him then *he said with a shrug and began to walk slowly away from the den*
Triton: Triton for his part had no idea of the oddity's that fate seemedto have heading his way, in fact he was somewhat looking forward to a nice quiet afternoon...and as such was dozing lightly outside his den, letting the autumn sunshine soak into his pelt, enjoying something that would become somewhat of a rarity as the season changed.
Annabell: Yup, blue. Y'know, I used to think wolves were only reds and browns and whites and blacks, but clearly that's not the case, eh? *laughs a little* Guess someone was having fun when they made us. *spots the odd color amongst the golds and green and wags her tail* Aha! There we go! Heeeeeeeeey~! *her call came before her as she trotted to the dozing trainer*
Prion: *Not wanting to comment on the various colors of wolves as he knew it would only lead to him slipping up, Prion followed Annabelle in silence, but when her tail starting wag his did too, boy this tail wagging thing was certainly contagious. Tongue lolled out of his mouth as he looked upon the blue and silver wolf, just lying there all vulnerable like a sleep snack. No, he told himself with a shake of the head, not a snack not today, today that blue wolf was going to teach him and Anna how to hunt*
Triton: Triton's eyes cracked open as the two wolves approached..part of his wished they would just continue on by..but no such luck. Annabelle's voice called out and Triton groaned inwardly before climbing to his feet, a burly blue mass that looked upon his visitors. "Morning" He greeted them both though he hardly knew Anna other by sight and the other..well he was completely new..and such creepy eyes.
Annabell: Mornin'! I know we don't really know each other well, but we - me and Prion here, I mean - we were hoping you wouldn't mind giving us a quick lesson about hunting. Neither of us are pretty good at it. *Funny, though: if she had been alone, she wouldn't have been so quick to blurt that out*
Prion: *watches as the large blue male stood up, yes hat was definitely a large snack if he ever saw one, of course Anna's sudden speech snapped him out of his thoughts and back to reality." Yes, hunting lessons...like Anna said *He didnt really think he needed a lesson, sure hunting wasn't his strong point but he wasn't about to make hunting part of his life either*
Triton: His brow furrowed slightly as the spotted male kept looking at him in an odd sort of manner..he looked almost..hungry? Well it was hard to tell he told himself with the glowing and all...in any case they'd asked for a hunting lesson and that was his job. "I expect I can see to that" He told the both with a slight nod of his head "are you ready to head out now?"
Annabell: Ready when you are, sir! *she stood straight at attention, adopting an all-too serious face as she sternly nodded...and then relaxed and went back to her goofy grin* Where we headin' first?
Prion: *He wanted to say he wasn't ready, but the sooner they started this the sooner it would be over. Hopefully they wouldn't actually have to chase anything down, or worse have to eat anything they did manage to catch. The foul taste of rabbit was still fresh on his mind and it made him grimace slightly before nodding at the blue snack...er wolf.* Ready.
Triton - After eyeing the both of them for a few moments longer he nodded inwardly pondering just what he should take them to hunt "I expect a..rabbit would be easiest to teach you about" He told them "Since the geese have already left for the season"
Annabell: Rabbit's good! Prion ate a rabbit yesterday s'matter of fact. *noddles* So we can replenish it two-fold! If it's anything like squirrel, yuuuuum~ *gives Triton an excited look* Right behind you, sah!
Prion: *He heaved a sigh, rabbit, why did it have to be rabbit? Couldn't they go after something a bit more appealing to the tastebuds. Glancing at Anna he noted her excitement about the whole idea of hunting and thought that maybe if he mimicked her he would at least somewhat enjoy it.* You get to eat this one. *He told her before turning his attention back to Triton.* So how we find hoppy snack?
Triton - He decided not to comment on the use of 'hoppy snack' to describe rabbits - or goofy look on Annabelles face..it was going to be a long trip...turning he headed into the woods assuming the other two would follow him. "Well the best way to find any prey is to know thier habits, why don't you tll me where you think a uh...hoppy snack...might be?"
Annabell: Awww, I like that name! Hoppy snack. Prion's so cute, don't you think? 83 *giggles a little, belatedly taking in Triton's question* Well, um . . . Uh . . . They liked burrowing in bushes and eating carrots?
Prion: Uh...hoppy snacks um... hide in holes *It was the best answer he could come up with, even if he was certain it was correct, the wording was just a bit off, but then again what wasn't a bit off when it came to Prion. And Anna had come up with a similar answer so he knew they were both on the right track.*
Triton - "Yes..cute" He responded to Anna, he didn't have anything against teh oddly marked girl - but she was one of those wolves you liked best when you saw them for short periods at a time. "The live in Burrows it's true, but thier burrows often have many differant etrences..so unless you want to go barreling through the forest in a mad dash..it's easiest to sniff out and block all the burrow holes but one or two..and then finding a nice place to wait..when the rabbit comes out you pounce on it, simple meal for when your working alone"
Annabell: Ooooh. *bobbles her head in understanding* But how do we know what's connected to what? What if there's like fifty holes in one spot and you have to go and cover them up? Then it'd be like Whack a Mole, only with rabbits. And no whacking. And how do we know how many rabbits are in there if we miss a few of them? Do they go at the same time? I saw ducklings go around the same time once, and they were all in a line, and it was the sweetest thing ever. It was like the mom was a teacher disc- *and then she stopped, wondering why she was getting odd memories about a "teacher" and something called a "classroom"...A wolf wouldn't know what either of those things were! She frowned, mouth forming soundless words in confusion*
Prion: *He was beginning to think hunting was turning out to be a bigger hassle than he originally thought, it was bad enough you had to chase something down, but now Triton wanted them to find holes and cover them up, but leave one open so the rabbit could get out, then Anna started rambling on about...something he wasn't sure, she talked alot some times and when did ducks get added to the conversation. Prion was getting confused, horribly confused so he would only look between Anna and Triton in hopes this lesson would become a bit less complicated soon*
Triton: Triton merely blinked at Anna as she rambled on and on about..well things that hardly even related, they'd started out related but now they'd strayed off the path and over th proverbial cliff. "It dosen't matter how many rabbits there are total..you only need to kill what you can eat, and the holes are generally all in the same area - they're not that hard to sniff out if you use your nose" He assured them both, takig note of the horribly confused look on Prion's face
Annabell: Huh . . . well alright then. *shrugs off the odd memories and nods for the third time* So what'd they smell like?
Prion; *Well thankfully Triton explained they didn't have to worry about finding every single hole in order to catch a single little rabbit* So....we catch hoppy snack now? *Enough explaining, he just wanted to have Anna catch something so he could go back to the den and sleep again*
Triton: "Didin't you say you guys one of you ate one yesterday?" He questioned after a few moments "Don't you recall waht it smelled like?" He asked her before glanceing at Prion "Yes in a moment"
Annabell: Er, well . . . Prion did. I think he has a better nose than me. *After all, she had to ask a stranger to lead her back to her own pack!* I ate a squirrel. Do they smell similarly? Or would they smell like dirt since they're underground a lot? Then it'd be hard to find them since, well, there's dirt everywhere!
Prion: Didn't smell it, only are it *He pointed out as Triton showed his obvious confusion as to how the pair could not know what rabbit smelled like. And if Triton asked him to describe what they tasted like he would be honest, they tasted nasty*
Triton: This was getting horribly frustrating very quickly...Triton sighed "Nevermind I'll point out thier scent at the barrow" He told them, picking up the pace in order to get thier fasrer. as they approached he slowed down abd finally halted beside a small game trail "there..rabbit tracks" He motioned to the dirt "Get a whiff"
Annabell: *gives Prion a look as they walk, oblivious to how they were bothering Triton* How could you eat it without smelling it? That's kinda the point when you eat. I know if you can't smell, food doesn't taste good anymore, so you /had/ to have smelled it while you ate. And you probably forgot when you woke up~ Just like how you forgot about the hu- Oh wha? *tilts head at the rabbit tracks, blinks, and then obeys, takking a good whiff* ...Yeah, loads of dirt in this one, sah, I'll have you know. Dirt and meat.
Prion *Doing his best to tone out Anna as they followed Triton. Did it really matter that he didn't smell what he ate? It probably would have smelled just as bad if not worse as it had tasted. And when Triton pointed out the tracks he allowed Anna to sniff them first before lowering his head and taking a deep whiff. Yup, they smelled just the same as they had tasted yesterday - disgusting*
Triton - "Yes well it's the meat part there you want to zero in on" He told them both "And we're fairly close to the burrow, so lets see if you can follow the scent there"
Annabell: Oh boy. *takes another whiff at the tracks, sneezes when dirt goes up her nose, and shakes her head a little before trying - the key word there - to lead them* Okay, um . . . I think it's this way . . . *She was trying to see if she could see more of those prints, but they tended to fade out the more they went. Still, the smell was going stronger, even if she had to pause often and turn her head to guesstimate. Eventually she stopped before an opening in the ground and hopped in place, delighted* YES!
Prion: *Following Anna he held his head low to the ground doing his best to pretend to be following the scent that Anna was on, but in reality he was following her scent, enjoying the way it tingled his senses and with Tritons scent added to it the entire experience was enough to make that darn tail of his wag again. He had been distracted by this combination of scents so that when Anna stopped
once she found a hole in the ground Prion didn't take notice and walked right into her.* Sorry *he mumbled before taking a step back*
Triton was pleased that Anna went more or less in the proper direction - sure she made a few wrong turns here and there but tracking was something that took some time to learn. "Very good Anna" He praised the wolf - much in the way he'd praise a pup "Now we fill it in, like so" He told them useing his paws to kick dirt down the hole until it was filled and then jumping on it to pack it down "Now spread out and find the rest that you can and I'll find one we can leave open"
Annabell: *Eventually the holes were filled, but she didn't like getting stuck with the waiting portion. Though it was funny: the one sound she made, a disgruntled sigh, was almost like the gun starting a race. Suddenly a rabbit peeked its head out from the hole, saw the purple monstrosity and its companions, and fled back underground.* Oy! Oy oy oy! *She scrambled to paw at the hole*
Prion: *waiting was so boring, he felt like he could take a nap while they waited for that stupid thing to come out of the hole, and just as he laid his head on his paws to do that the hoppy snack came into view and Anna was quick to react. Prion got to his paws and hurried over to the hole as Anna started pawing at the hole* Don't let hoppy snack get away Anna! *It was his version of cheering her on since they finally reached an exciting part of this lesson*
Triton: Triton Waited patiently as the two 'student's dug away at the hole - he knew the rabbit would return once it found out the remainder of its holes were covered in, it would panic and attempt to flee out this hole again - well if those two quit "wait...wait, it'll come back if your quiet..wait behind the bush out of sight and hush...when it comes completely out jump" He instructed.
Annabell: Bugger . . . *sighs and goes back to her hiding place, not liking this at all. This time she would stand at the ready! As in "ready to get it done". Though as Triton predicted, several agonizing minutes later the rabbit did poke its head back outside the hole, cautiously sniffing the air as it crept forward . . .*
Prion: *sighs as they instructed to wait once more, so much waiting and then chasing in hunting, no fun at all. Hiding behind a bunch the black and white male did his best to sit still while anxious to end this, when the rabbit started to come out of the hole Prion looked towards Anna, waiting for her to make her move*
Triton watched as the rabbit crept out of it's hole..almost...almost, when it was far enough out he nudged Anna in the rump with a silent paw hoping she'd get the clue and leap foreward to snag the rabbit
Annabell: *mumbles at the prodding* Watch it. *She wanted to do this just right this time! Bottom wiggling a second before she leapt, Anna sprang at the rabbit and managed to pin it down, which surprised her enough to let go when she felt bones crack under her weight. The rabbit's squeal didn't help either. She backed off and watched as the thing tried to limp away, looking a little horrified at Triton* U-Um . . . what now?
Triton: Triton swooped in ot dispatch the poor rabbit before it suffered any longer. "You must kill it quickly or it suffers" He told Anna kindly, he wasn't going to be angry at her for being startled "you won't be startled next time" He told her before nudging the rabbit in her direction.
Prion: *It all happened pretty quickly and before Prion got to his feet Anna had caught the rabit and then let it go, then Triton moved in and finished the rabbit off, seeing that his friend...that was the correct term right? seem a bit distraught Prion gave her a gentle nudge on the shoulder* Anna do good catching hoppy snack.
Annabell: Heh . . . *all the same, her ears tilted back with some embarrassment. Death was natural, but still . . .* Well, um, guess we caught one, eh? I, um, I'm gonna go take a breather, 'kay? But don't either of you go eating my prey. *She offered a shaky laugh before turning to pad off, within seconds humming to herself*
Triton: "You both did well for your first lesson" He assured them both "I'm going back to the dens, stop by for another lesson whenever you wish" He told them before nodding to Prion as Anna wandered off and headed off himself.
Prion: *With Annabelle and Triton taking there leave Prion was for a moment left alone with the dead rabbit a few feet away. He sneered at the dead creature for a moment before sighing to himself and picking it up. Anna would want to eat it later, so he decided he would take it back to the den for her. And then go to the river to wash the disgusting taste from his mouth. Well better get to it, so he padded towards Anna's den, rabbit dangling from his mouth*
