-Lunchtime. The most popular part of the day for most highschool students, and Aitana was no different. No teachers, no thinking, just food and relaxing. She'd settled into a small table early since she'd brought her own lunch and she'd failed to notice the fact that.. despite the room getting slowly more crowded, as of yet noone had decided to sit near the exchange student.
She was busy you know. Doing stuff.
A half eaten sandwich sat in front of her, a mess of chips spilling out of her lunch bag, and from her mouth dangled a carrot stick that wiggled up and down thoughtfully as she stared at the object in her hands mildly.
When she'd moved in with her foster family they'd provided her with a cellphone, which was fine, she was grateful and stuff for what it was worth. But this high end beast was continuing to be a mystery to her. Droid. The phone part she got. The.. 'not just a phone' part had her poking at things randomly waiting to see what it'd do.-

Kat walked into the cafeteria of the highschool with a dumbfounded look on her face. It was her first day at Meadowview, and she knew next to no one. She quickly scanned the room for her cousin Tallulah and let out a heavy sigh when she didn’t catch sight of her. The room was quickly filling and it felt a little over-whelming for the new girl- every time she walked to a table to sit at, someone slid in front of her and took the last seat.
And then she saw it- an empty table (besides the one girl that sat there alone). Great… First day at a new school and she’s gonna be stuck sitting with the outcast. Which would make her an outcast too, she figured. Ah well, a girl’s gotta sit and eat somewhere! With that, she made her way to the nearly empty table and dropped her tray full of food onto it. She quietly took a seat across from the other girl and lowered her head to eat her food. Every once in a while her eyes would stray upwards and catch a glance at the other girl.
Kat’s eating began to slow down when she realized how utterly confused the girl across from her looked as she stared down at her cellphone. She cleared her throat loud and obnoxiously and peered across the table. “Ah… Whatchya doin? You look confused.”

-Aitana was also fairly new to the school and town, she was lucky to have pushed the transfer papers so quickly as to get into school at the beginning of the semester. But she did not hold the same worry that Kat and many other normal teens held. She was less then perturbed by the lack of people sitting at her table, if they did cool, if they didn't whatever.
The new comer was given a mild grunt of greeting as she sat, eyes still focused, carrot stick still hopping up and down until it finally dissapeared into her mouth with a loud crunch.
The other girl's voice was a welcome distraction and Aitana greeted her with a wide and toothy smile as she lifted her head. When she spoke it became entirely evident one reason why her table might have been empty. If the dark skin hadn't given it away, the heavy accent that tinted her words told tale of Aitana's exotic origins.- "Apps I think they say..?"
-That was the word they used for all the weird little gizmos the phone could download to do more stuff right? She set the phone on the table in mild exasperation as she spoke, it appeared she'd somehow opened the internet on the phone and gotten stuck and confused.- "It does too much stuff."
"Phone call yes. Pictures okay. But all this 'app' and stuff. Estupido..."

Kat giggled quietly to herself when the girl across from her spoke for the first time. She shouldn’t be one to laugh, as she had a heavy English accent herself. She adjusted herself so that she could peer over the table to take a peek at her phone. A, a droid! She didn’t have one herself (she was more of an iPhone kind of girl), but she absolutely knew how to use one.
“You’re on the internet.” She said matter-of-factly. “Apps are actually really useful! You could like, update your Facebook status with it, or find directions to some place. Or play lots of games.” She nodded with approval and stuffed a handful of potato chips in her mouth. She grinned a little when the girl called them stupid.
“My name’s Kathryn, by the way,” she said with a smile after she swallowed her mouthful of food.

-While others might have shied away from the lean, or pulled their food back from the potential of contamination, Aitana instead leaned in closer herself, peering curiously at her phone as the other girl spoke. Internet on the phone? Strange.. the screen seemed way to small to do any typing or play any computer games, so why internet? The explaination brought a slightly puzzled look before she nodded.
Facebook did not interest her much. Directions.. she supposed that could be useful, though Aitana was the sort to just kind of wander with the assurance that eventually at some point she'd make it somehow. Games however caught her attention, her lips forming in the same soft O as the sound that came out of her mouth.- "Ohhhhhh. Games are good!"
-A hand was offered out of custom, and if taken one quick but firm shake would be given before she let go, Kathryn's smile returned by the green hair girl.- "Aitana" -Any company was fine to her, but the usefulness of this girl was that much better. She was obviously pleased.
Greetings done however she was back down to business, tapping the phone lightly.- "I make them go how?"

Kat couldn't help but smile at the other girl's amusement. She had never in her entire life met someone who didn't know what apps were- let alone being confused by the concept of internet on their phone. She quickly extended her right hand and gave Aitana's a firm shake.
"Alright so..." started Kat, as she got up off her seat and plopped herself back down beside the girl she had just met, not even remotely considering the fact that the closeness may make some people uncomfortable. "You push this button here to get out of the internet," she said as she pushed a button on the phone, making sure that Aitana was following.
"Then to play games, you go here," she continued, pushing another button. "And then you get to pick which game you want to play! That's it, just pushing the right button." She looked at Aitana and smiled. "If you want to go on the internet, you push this one," she pointed out another button to her. "Easy peasy!" she grinned and ate another handful of chips.

-Aitana seemed unmoved by the girl's movement, obviously a kindred spirit in regards to personal space bubbles, or lack there of. Her eyes followed Kathryn's fingers as she explained, quite simply too much to her pleasure.- "Easy peasy" -She echo'd back in agreement.
A new phrase for her vocabulary. She imagined it just meant very easy. It wasn't one of those very strange ones like 'raining cats and dogs' or 'easy as pie'. She was not sure what made pie easy. It wasn't really easy to eat, you had to have a fork and plate.. it wasn't easy to make either.
Brushing away the boring thought of words and phrases, she tapped the button that Kat had pushed just a moment before, pulling up the small list of games that had come already on her phone. She inspected them curiously for a moment, before her attention turned back to her new table company, crunching on another carrot.-
"So Kathryn, you are a sophmore too? Or more?" -She didn't look younger, and Aitana hadn't caught the fact that she'd seemed not to know the school cafeteria well enough to have a 'spot'.-

Kat shook her head quickly, another fistful of chips being shoved into her mouth. Eventually she swallowed and smiled. “I’m a senior. I just moved here from England, actually, so I don’t really know anyone but you and my cousin!”
She munched on a few more chips. “How about you, where are you from? Clearly you’re not from around here. Y’know, accent and all.”
It was kind of nice meeting someone else who wasn't from around here. Most of the kids that went to this school made it very clear that they had their friends and they were a pretty tight knit group. Chicks with accents should stick together, she thought to herself.

"Ahhh" -She nodded as the other girl explained herself. Being a senior was very cool, it meant she was almost done with school and could get on to 'the world' and life beyond. And the voice.. she had noticed something a little different about the other girl's speaking. She'd disregarded it at first considering that her mouth had been full of food for the most part, but now that it was pointed out.-
"I am from Brazil. Four of us..." -Her fingers lifted as if it were necessary to show four along with saying it.- "We all transferred to Destiny City this year as foreign exchange." -Of course that had nothing to do with school.. but even Aitana was smart enough not to go spouting off nonesense about traveling up here looking for a princess led by a talking cat. She might as well throw stuff about the circus in there too for good 'crazy' measure.
A wide smirk crossed her face after a moment, and she leaned in, commenting matter of factly.- "I think it is neat to be from someplace different and exciting. It makes us cooler than most, yes?"

"Ohhhh that's neat! I've never been to Brazil before," Kat commented. She'd always wanted to travel the world and see new and exciting places. But that was neither here nor there- and quite frankly if she was going to do this whole 'Sailor Senshi' thing, she honestly wasn't quite sure she would be able to just... up and walk away from that to go on vacation. Did Senshi and Negaversers exist outside of Destiny City? she pondered to herself quietly. She'd have to ask someone sometime.
She grinned a little at Aitanna mentioning that being from someplace different made them automatically cooler than everyone else. "Definitely makes us cooler," she laughed. As Kat finished off her lunch, the bell rang indicating that break-time was over. She smiled at her new-found friend and stood up. "It was really nice to meet you, Aitanna! Hopefully you get the hang of that fancy new phone and we can hang out sometime." She smiled broadly and took off for her next class.
((I figured we could go ahead and end it there XD))
