Reiya was standing outside of the place the Azoulais had rented for the ball. Her twin, Samantha, was already inside, and presumably dancing. That was her thing, after all. Not Reiya's. There was no reason for her to be jealous; none at all. Still the princess turned gypsy couldn't help it. She took the wrap off of her head, and glanced around.
She wished she had a date for the ball. She had gotten dressed up at the insistence of her sister; and though it was rather chilly out when she was in a skirt and the thin material of her costume, she didn't want to enter the ballroom. No. She wouldn't. She wouldn't.
She felt like Cinderella without a proper dress.

Despite his intentions on remaining as far away from girls and dancing, the pumpkin demon found himself slipping notes of either good or bad luck wishes into the various open and lit jack-o-lanterns. For each one that granted some form of good luck, the light inside brightened and sent out an orange and gold light. The others, the bad luck ones, glowed black and purple with some of the nastier ones sending out small clouds of black smoke that clung to the ground.
All was going well, with each pumpkin causing mischief or luck depending on who happened to touch their surface first. There was no payment for the darker ones, but whatever valuables or cheap jewelry they had tended to slip away and vanish upon being granted good luck. Well, all was apparently going well till his eyes fell upon a singular form not too far away and, being too dark to tell, wasn't exactly sure if she saw him stashing his last note into the pumpkin. "Uh... Hi," Azrael called out, straightening and pretending to not have been doing anything.

"Hi," Reiya called back, making her way over to him. "Nice pumpkins," she added, with a smile. She hadn't seen him stashing notes into them, but seemed interested in the different glows. "I bet Darcy set that up to make it look cool," she mused.
She studied him before smiling. He was handsome, wasn't he? Maybe he would like to dance? "I'm Reiya," she said, not sure if she had ever met this boy before. Surely she would have remembered him. His features and good looks were unique. "What's your name? What are you doing here?"
Maybe he needed someone to dance with.

Seeing the girl hadn't noticed him making the pumpkins change colors via notes, the boy became far more relaxed and at ease. A small smirk was sent her way as he took a far more prideful stance. "M'name's Azrael and I'm not doing anything. Just... don't touch that black pumpkin. What about you?" he replied, glancing at the pumpkin that was currently releasing a small cloud of black fog. Well... That wasn't good.

"Oh, I'm not doing anything either," Reiya said, looking down at the ground. "I was thinking about going to the dance, but I don't have a date." She paused, and studied him for a moment. "You don't seem to have a date either. Would you like to be mine?"
She looked up and watched a cloud cover directly over where they were standing. "There will be rewards if you join me," she added. "I could cause a storm if I wanted."

Azrael was all ready to decline and slip off without a second word, but the girl had to make a show of power. And they couldn’t be anything simple or weak, oh no, she had to have the same power as Ary’s daughter and control the freaking weather. “I… uhm… D-Date you said?” he asked, stuttering a little. Well this was just great. At least the girl was pretty enough so he didn’t look like he was forced into being there last minute. At least she wasn’t Regina. That alone would have been a nightmare without having to actually DANCE with her.
“Of course. Although I must ask about what kind of rewards there might be,” Azrael added upon recomposing himself. The suddenness of the question and power had thrown him a little off kilter, but now he knew he HAD to be her date, he might as well make it good right? With a little bow and slight hesitation, he held his arm out for the girl to take. That god he had been taught how to dance, despite how humiliating it had been to learn. Now he had an actual use for such knowledge.

Reiya appeared vaguely amused by Azrael's reaction. She had never really considered her ability as powerful; no, that was Samantha's. "Date," she reaffirmed. She gave him a smile to reassure him; surely she wasn't so frightening, really?
"I'll tell you when we get inside," she said mysteriously, taking his arm. "They're worth it," she promised. Inwardly, she was thrilled, though she appeared calm. She had a handsomer date than even Samantha! He was cute, too; always a plus.

Azrael's slight smile faded as she refused to say what type of reward there would be. "Very well, I'll trust your word," he replied quietly, leading the girl into the ballroom only to grimace at who he all saw. Howl was dancing with someone, Regina was hovering in the corner with that ever present snooty look, Loki and Aesica lurked around...
Oi. This was terribly humiliating. Why did girls like dances anyways? They were TERRIBLE. Yet, despite his inner hatred and embarrassment the pumpkin demon allowed none of it to surface. He just had to keep remembering the girl could strike him with lightning or drench him in never ending rain if he wasn't a good date, or probably a perfect one depending on what she expected from him. "So..."

Reiya rewarded Azrael with a smile. "You're really handsome," she complimented him, ignoring his previous statement. It seemed like the girl was smitten; though she clearly had no idea how to go about courting. His hair was such a pretty color; and his skin complimented it just right. "Do you want to lead, or shall I?"
She seemed oblivious to her companion's horror; and even more so to those surrounding them. Her eyes were focused on Azrael.

Azrael blinked at the compliment, a slow grin crawling across his face. Unfortunately for Reiya, she didn't exactly realize how dangerous it was to stroke the ego of a child whose pride often got in the way of everything else. "Thank you. You're very pretty too," he replied, glancing once more at the rest of the people in the ballroom before returning his gaze back to her.
"I can lead. I was taught how to dance not too long ago, and now I see why," he continued with a soft smile as he led her to the dance floor. They weren't the center of attention, but it was close enough so that people wouldn't stare as badly. Unfortunately, a slow song happened to start up right as he moved into place in front of her. Just his freaking luck, wasn't it?
