It was a pretty Sunday morning and Istas was walking in the park with coloring books under one arm carrying and old lunch pail in that hand as well, which happened to be full of coloring supplies.
The other held a blanket and her Teddy. It was too pretty out to be in doors and Istas wanted to color outside in the park. So she was hunting out a nice place to color. Her pastel blue dress with pastel purple flowers around the bottom and slightly puffy sleeves fluttered in the wind and Istas was slightly worried about getting grass stains on it. Her bows were also a pastel purple which were keeping her ringlets out of her face
"Hmm..." she stopped on the side walk looking for a place that would be safe from the ball players but close enough to watch them. "Where should I sit?" She said out loud to herself unaware of anyone else that might be walking on the sidewalk she had suddenly stopped on.

Apparently, Istas wasn't the only one who thought this was a nice sunday morning. It was actually rare that Xavier didn't work sundays, what with being part-time, and he'd decided to make the most of it. It was warmer today than most of the days before it - a nice warm autumn day, even, which only made his current freedom all the more amazing.
And he was, indeed, walking on the very sidewalk the young lady had stopped on - big headphones on his ears, humming along to some kind of repetitive beat that was coming out of them. And... he wasn't watching where he was going.
At all.
And thus, what had to happen, happened. That is, he walked right into her, too gone in his own little music-filled world to realize that there was someone standing in his path. Thankfully, the long haired blonde had only been walking, or the collision would have likely been a little more painful.
"Oh." Well, now he'd noticed her, and one hand rose to take his headphones off his head and let them hang around his neck. "You're alright down there ? Sorry about that." Normally, he would have been more inclined to tell people to watch where they were standing but... the kid was what, eight ?

Istas let out a startled squeak. She was just run into! She looked at the larger, much older boy that had ran into her. A small embarrassed blush crept up on her face.
"Um... uh-huh..." She said nodding looking up at him. "I'm sorry! I was trying to find a place to sit and color. Where I wouldn't get trampled I didn't realize I was in your way." She said quickly as she apologized for having stopped in front of him.
She twisted her foot in the ground as she looked up at him. "You're not mad?" She ventured carefully. Her ringlets bouncing only animated any nodding of her head.

"It's fine." He didn't look mad, at the very least. "It's my fault, I wasn't looking where I was going. Neither of us got hurt, so no harm done ?" He offered her a bit of an awkward smile - being an only child, he really had no idea how to deal with young children.
"So..." He pondered. "Ill color with you a bit to make it up for you, if you want, how about that ?" Hopefully she wouldn't run off to her mother crying. That was always the worst thing !

Istas nodded looking up at him. Last time she'd meet an older guy he ripped a book she wanted. However, this one seemed nicer than the guy in the library that had to have the even older librarian step in to solve the problem.
"Okay!" Istas said with a smile, when she seemed positive that he wasn't mean or meant any trouble. She had been pouting slightly and giving that kicked puppy look until he'd mentioned he wanted color with her.
It was a good thing she brought more than one coloring book. A smile lighted her face "Where do you think would be the best place to sit?" She asked looking around, "I don't think anyone else would be happy with us standing on the sidewalk." She said with a giggle.

"They'd just trip all over me, and we wouldn't want that, now don't we ?" Whew ! Crisis adverted. For now, anyway. That wibbly kicked puppy look wasn't inspiring him much confidence that he'd said the right thing. "Im so tall, after all. They'd trip all over me." He added a wink for good measure. That always seemed to amuse children.
They made such a mix-matched pair, really. Adorable little girl with curls with... well, him.
"We could... how about under that tree, over there ?"

Istas giggled again, "No, I dont' think being tripped on would be much fun." She did have to crane her neck to look at him. "If you're so tall I think they should be able to see you though."
She glanced over to the tree that he indicated. "Alright!" She nodded, it looked far enough away from the dangerous sports. She headed off towards the tree, glancing back to make sure he was following.

And, apparently, he wasn't getting off this hook all that easily. Not that he planned on making a sneaky exit - he'd promised, hadn't he ? He figured he'd color one picture, she'd be contented, and he could go on with his morning activities. And all would be well.
Right ?
He followed her, hands into his pockets. This was... a little awkward, really, but thank god children usually did not notice those things. He flopped down next to the tree once he got here, not worried in the least that his jeans might get dirty.

Istas spread out the blanket near him. He might not worry but she was, her pastel dress wouldn't look good with grass stains or dirt.
She sat out her different books, there were super girly ones and only slightly girly ones and then Disney ones. At least he had a choice of Disney books right? She sat out the lunch pail of colored pencils and crayons. "You can pick first." She said with a nod.

...All these books with pretty pretty princesses, unicorns, and rainbows. Yep, this was a little girl indeed, no questions, no if, and no buts.
But there was Disney. And so, he chose Disney, and did his best to preserve whatever masculinity still remaining to him. "Which one do you want me to color ?" He flipped through the pictures. It was her book, after all.

She watched him flipping through, "There's one of lady and the tramp" She said with a grin pointing before he passed it. "You could color that one if you want?"
She smiled and picked up the my little pony which happened to have the unicorn "Which one should I color?" She asked, it was only fair. He asked her so she could ask him.
She also made sure he could reach the crayons and the pencils. "Ohhh..." She paused, "I'm Istas!" She said with a smile.

"Hmm." Why not ? He backtracked back to that page. If she wanted him to color that one, he would have a go at it.
And then he looked sideways at her own open book. Oh god... Those ponies. Yes, he was very familiar with My Little Pony. Tallulah had so many of those things she had to have come close to a world record.
Or maybe spending a large part of his childhood playing with little plastic ponies had warped him for life.
"How about that one ?" He pointed at one of a pony rearing, her pretty pretty mane flowing in the wind.

Istas nodded, as she paused at that page. "Okay!"
She chuckled as she grabbed a purple crayon and started to work on the pony's body. She paused tilting her head, she'd offered hers and he didn't offer his. She shrugged and started coloring, trying to be careful of not getting outside of the lines.
She was wondering if she should ask him his name, but would it be rude?

And he started onto his own drawing, brown crayon in hand. It was the oh-so-memorable scene of Lady, the Tramp, at the restaurant, with the spaghetti. Everyone knew that one.
At least it wasn't the little mermaid. He might just have been unable to laugh at the irony of it. Much like ponies, the little mermaid made a large chunk of his childhood. Thank you, Tallulah.
"Ah !" Then he finally seemed to notice he had forgotten something. "Sorry, my name's Xavier."

Istas occasionally glanced at his coloring occasionally to see how he was doing. She paused when she got near the pony's legs, and seemed to debate on changing the crayon color.
"Oh," She said when he finally said his name. "Xavier?" She said attempting to pronounce it right, which was slightly easier than expected. "That's a pretty name." She said with a nod.
She looked at the pony and started touching up some white spots she'd left in the purple. It would be easier to do that than to switch colors and go back.
