Hello!!!

I hope that everyone has had an amazing week!!! and I apologize for the technical difficulties last week.

I'm sorry I'm so late; my sister had me trapped in a few intense rounds of Chutes and Ladders.

How was church today?

I didn't go for long today, I was traveling back to school. But it was good, for the time I was there.

How was church for you today?

It was great, as always. We had another missionary homecoming. Those are always fun. I love mission stories.

Anything planned for today's meeting?

I was thinking of choices and how to make the right ones.... I heard a really good talk on this the other week for my schools weekly devotional.

But is there anything that you would like to discuss?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 17, 2010 5:48 pm

Are you going to BYU? I love the weekly devotionals there. I miss that place.

I don't really have anything in mind; that topic sounds good.

Nope. I'm going to SVU.

Ok. Sounds great. So we all have choices to make in our lives and some that we make are better than others. Remember that Satan is the author of runing and hiding. But we must be strong and face our problems head on and work on them.

So what are some ways in which we can face our problems?

Prayer helps. We need to be guided by the Spirit in all of our choices, because Heavenly Father knows what's best for us way better than we do.

that is one of the best ways.

In making your choices remember to not be afraid, because in doing what is right you will have a blessing of peace. and remember that you are a disciple of Christ.

What exactly is a disciple?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 17, 2010 5:58 pm

A disciple is someone who follows a certain person or idea. So to be a disciple of Christ is to be a follower of Him and His ways and earnestly try to emulate Him in everything we do.

that is good, a disciple is also a learner, a follower, has discipline or obedience, and is a teacher or shares with others.

At the fireside were were told of 4 principles of choice. which are be clear about what we want, forgo the tings that are good for the things that are right, keep things simple and focus on the significant, and take accountability for what we do and learn from our mistakes.

Now why would these 4 principles be important?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 17, 2010 6:07 pm

The first three seem to be about prioritizing, and the last one is about dealing with the aftermath. So I guess if we want to make good choices, we have to know our priorities and be willing to face up to the consequences of our choices.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Another set of principles we were given is that our choices define us, actions (do the will of the father, take small and simple steps, when you feel ill at ease with others thank them, define self more with actions.) and consciousness (take personal accountability, be aware of what you do, and mindful of actions)

What else do you think would fall under consciousness?

I think maybe thinking ahead; being sure to take a look at the big picture instead of making choices based on your immediate situation and (especially) your current emotions.

those are good. some more are to accept who you are, get along with yourself, and see your self as Heavenly Father sees you. and to grow spiritual roots.

remember to be still and know God, invite God into you life, and listen for the still small voice. be one with Christ. and permit yourself to be transformed by God.

ok, so a task to go along with this lesson is to look at your life and make a list of things that p***k at your spirit and that may dim your connection to the Holy Ghost. Then choose a day to fast and keep trying to overcome these obstacles and invite the Holy Ghost into your life.

Do you have any questions, or comments?
