User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: Sebastian Drake

Nicknames: Bast, Sea Bass, Sebby, Baz

Age: 20

Birthday: September 11

Sign: Virgo

Blood Type: O+

Fav. Food: Nacho Cheese Doritos, Mt. Dew

Hated Food: Mt. Dew; he's trying to break his caffeine addiction. It's not going well.

School: DCU

Hobbies: Math, Military Sci-fi, D&D, Rockets

Math -- Sebastian enjoys the elegance and precision of math, especially higher-level calculus. The margins of his school notebooks are usually filled with simple algebra problems (trig is for boring classes, and calc is for very boring classes); his homework is not immune from this either, to the consternation of his non-math teachers. Sebastian also enjoys calculating silly little things, just for fun or to show off - the unit price for a single Dorito in a bag, that kind of thing.

Military Sci-fi -- While Sebastian's dad enjoys classic sci-fi (think Asimov, Heinlein, Niven), he prefers the space opera or military sci-fi genre. Sweeping epics of interstellar war keep him glued to a book long past the time he should go to sleep - and he never skims over the technical details regarding ships or weapons.

D&D -- He's been playing with the same core group of friends for years. Sebastian tends to play mixed classes; combinations of fighting and whatever magic system is in place. The characters usually lean towards sarcastic and somewhat antagonistic, opposed to his own tendency to play peacemaker. He's a minor sort of twink or munchkin; long years of playing have removed the most obnoxious aspects of that kind of behavior, but Sebastian does remain a bit of min-maxer unless someone calls him out on it.

Rockets -- Sebastian literally wants to be a rocket scientist. He's attending DCU to get a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering before moving on to grad school. What little free time he has on weekends that isn't spent with his D&D group is typically spent out in an empty field somewhere - Sebastian is a member of the local chapter of the National Association of Rocketry. He builds and designs his own rockets, in addition to the work he does with his team for competitions.

Gemstone: Sapphire

Virtues: Confident, Precise, Diplomat

Confident -- Sebastian is very sure of himself and of his ability to achieve his goals. He knows his strengths and his weaknesses, and is generally comfortable with who he is and where he's going in life. This can come across as arrogance, especially if you don't know him well; being able to state that you're going to work at NASA without any hint of doubt tends to make other people think you're being conceited.

Precise -- Priding himself on an overall professional attitude, Sebastian is a very meticulous person. He expects things to be done correctly the first time, and that everyone is sufficiently prepared in order for that to happen. Sebastian has a tendency to make lists and schedules for himself.Writing it out gives him an outline, and once he's into the details of it, it doesn't matter if everything goes according to plan, as long as it's all done right.

Diplomat -- Sebastian doesn't like to see people argue, especially his friends. He's usually trying to defuse any conflict before it starts, although he does enjoy good D&D drama. While he might not always say the right thing at the right time, he's typically very good at it. Other people might be the brains or leadership of any group Sebastian finds himself in, but he's generally the one keeping everything cohesive.

Flaws: Dead Horse, Doesn't Suffer Fools, Bullshit!

Dead Horse -- Okay seriously, we get it. Sebastian has a tendency to repeat the same stories over and over again - hey guys remember the time my mom almost got us into a car accident when I was 12 and I totally hit my head against the side of the door and had to get stitches and that's why I have this weird scar on the side of my head? While normally Sebastian recounts tales of how awesome he is, internally, this trait means he tends to replay every time he's ever ******** up and made an a** of himself. Going all the way back to the fourth grade when he spilled his lunch all over that cute girl in his class.

Doesn't Suffer Fools -- Sebastian is not always very good at explaining things. Or at least, not understanding why people don't get it after one explanation. It's very hard for him to sit back and let someone else work if he knows he can do it better and faster, and he gets frustrated easily by people who don't appreciate his help.

Bullshit! -- They wouldn't be called stories if you didn't make part of it up, right? Sebastian cannot leave well enough alone when it comes to embellishments and often starts telling a story that's riddled with errors just to see how long he can string someone along. He's also got a tendency to answer 'no' when asked to do something simple, like pass the ketchup, even as he's handing you the bottle.

Physical Description:

Hair: Chin length, medium brown. Grew his bangs out and tends to keep his hair tucked behind his ears. It doesn't stay there, especially when he leans forward.

Eyes: Dark grey.

Face: His expression varies; around friends he is more relaxed and tends to have either a goofy grin plastered across his face, or at least a sparkle of laughter in his eyes. In a more serious situation, he looks the part.

Body: Average height, average weight - Sebastian is an ordinary looking guy. Has a small scar under his left eye, but no other marks.

Fashion: Cargo pants are the best thing ever! Enjoys geeky t-shirts with videogame and internet culture references. Will throw on a hoodie when it gets to be cold (somewhere below freezing, for him). Has a well-loved pair of black Chuck's. Pants; Shirt; Shoes.

Challenge: Have a nice trip!

Attack #1: Kaitain's Path!
Description-- Kaitain calls out the name of his attack and points in the direction he wants to go. A dirt path then appears leading off in the direction so indicated.
Effects-- As long as Kaitain stays on the path, he takes no damage from similarly ranked enemies and reduced damage from higher ranked ones.
Range-- However far he can walk before the path fades.
Target-- Self
Duration-- 15 seconds
Frequency of Use-- Once, maybe twice per battle. Two times would really strain him.

Attack #1b: Kaitain Caravan!
Description-- Kaitain calls out the name of his attack and points in the direction he wants to go. The path that appears has been upgraded visually and now appears to be well-traveled, though not paved.
Effects-- As long as Kaitain stays on the path, he takes no damage from similarly ranked enemies and reduced damage from higher ranked ones. Additionally, up to three allies can follow along the path behind Kaitain and receive first stage damage reduction.
Range-- However far Kaitain can walk before the path fades.
Target-- Self, plus three allies max.
Duration-- 30 seconds.
Frequency of Use-- Once per battle, maybe twice. Can use base attack two to three times.

Attack #2: Kaitain's Camp!
Description-- After calling the name of the attack and making a half circle gesture with his hand, a golden circle of light appears on the ground to mark the edge of the camp. Outside of the camp it grows a little darker.
Effects-- Anyone caught outside camp takes damage from something that preys on unwary travelers. Typical damage would be deep scratches on exposed skin as well as heavy bruises from a physical attack. Possibly from flatbears. Kaitain doesn't really want to know.
Range-- Six meters in diameter, though the camp area is three meters in diameter. Kaitain is the focal point.
Target-- Casts on self.
Duration-- 45 seconds.
Frequency of Use-- Once per battle.

Family

Professor Layton Drake (Father): Professor Drake teaches English and Creative Writing at DCU. He's a bit bemused by his science-mad son, but supports his goals whole-heartedly...even if it means that his garage gets taken over by half-built rockets every winter. He's a genial sort, content to let his wife manage him with the tolerance of many years of relatively happy marriage.

Naomi Drake (Mother): Naomi is a librarian at one of Destiny City's elementary schools. She's more career-oriented than her husband and is working on the last few classes she needs to complete her MLS. Occasionally snappish and bossy with her husband and child, Naomi certainly means well and only wants for them both to succeed.
