As it turns out, Sailor Maia wasn't the only one that was patrolling this area that night. This had been, in fact, the location Sailor Themis had chosen for his first solo patrol. The need for such patrol had been all but crammed into his brain thanks to his best friend and now senshi teacher all in one, Sailor Europa.

There was no Europa at his side that night, however, and Themis was a little nervous about the fact. Or at least had been. And then he had made the discovered that he could somehow jump from roof to roof with amazing ease, and the rest of what had been on his mind had been forgotten in favor of jumping from roof to roof like in the movies OH MY GOD.

Europa would have kicked his a** if she had been there to witness this. The only bad thing about this was that his mp3 player magically went away with his clothes while he was henshined up - in reality, this was probably the powers-that-be's way to help assure his survival.

He leaped his way on top of the gym building, and looked down at the football field. There was... someone here. He squinted, but the only thing he could make out in the darkness was the fact that the figure was feminine.

And, well, the fact that the mud was shifting behind her.

DAMNIT !

"HEY !" He screamed out at her, just as he ran and leaped off the roof. "MOVE, SOMETHING'S COMING !"

((I figured Mud Monster Of Doom would be weird enough. razz ))

The youma was, by all appearances, not willing to give up its new found senshi dinner that easily. No, as soon as the massive mass of mud had finished forming, it started to stalk forward in Maia's direction, oozing mud all over the place wherever it slid forward, groaning.

Themis was coming down, indeed - didn't seem to mind the mud splashing all over his coat as he landed, and he half-ran, half-slid his way toward the red-headed girl. Who... was also a senshi, he could tell that much now.

This could potentially be bad. They were far from the front of the campus and, therefore, traffic. The only sounds going on, beside the rustling of the leaves in the wind, was the youma themselves, and their own voice. And, in his awakening, he had figured out that using his own voice tired him out extremely.

But then, he seemed to notice something - an overabundance of clef notes on the girl's uniform. "Please tell me your attack has to do with sound. Or else we might need to lure this thing closer to the front of the campus and im not too interested in doing that."

Youma + civilians = bad.

Song. That could probably work nicely. He'd done this before... all of twice, but his mind went straight to thinking something that possibly end in their advantage.

"Okay, then..." A rough plan was forming up in his mind - would it work ? He had no idea. He'd never tried to truly mix his attack with another senshi's before. He also usually wasn't the leader-type, more content to be the soft-spoken follower, but Maia seemed... downright scared of this thing.

"I need you to plug your ears." Uh ? "And then do your attack. Ill do mine right after, we'll see where that'll take us."

Hopefully that'll take them somewhere good, because the youma was still advancing - two senshi starseeds where much more enticing then one, after all. It was bubbling and leaking mud onto whatever it touched.

...This was bad. "My attack amplifies sound." Themis answered. "It confuses youma, I have... no idea what ill't do to anyone else." ********* had covered her ears when she had awakened him - and Europa had done the same when he'd asked her to do.

"So im sorry if it hurts you." He offered, awkwardly. And now he was showing just how new at this he was. Superb. Why didn't his attack come with an handy dandy handbook of not-obvious things. "Unless..." He was thinking again. "Try to stand as far away as you can from me, while still being able to hit that thing ?" If he could keep her out of his area of influence... Unfortunately, he didn't know just how wide his area of influence was.

Drat.

The senshi weren't moving, at all. The youma was a little suspicious, and it's approach slowed a bit. They had to be plotting something ! Had to be ! It snarled at them. Why didn't tasty little senshi didn't just lay down and let themselves get eaten ?

"Tell me when. Ill dash forward."

And when her attack started, Themis dashed forward - past her, past even the youma, using the opportunity to throw a punch - which went right through the creature's side in a splash of mud - and then continued his course. He couldn't get too far, or else he'll just miss-

There. He turned, then rose his hand toward the sky. "Themis Noise Amplification !" At least, he had finally seemed to understand that he did not need to scream at the heavens, just point at them.

The air around him started to ripple in a circle, extending slowly toward the youma and Maia. With the youma at the center, the two attacks collided and mixed.

Normally, Themis' attack would have confused the youma, leaving it open for attack, yet trying to figure out just where that cacophony of noise was coming from - though it seemed the two sound-based attacks mixed well. Rather that work against Maia's melody, it seemed to boost it - the notes swirling in a circle inside Themis's area of influence - it was a rather sweet-sounding cacophony, for once, and the youma visibly calmed - in fact, it calmed so much that it toppled over, as if entranced.

((I thought this was a good mix. XD You decide if Maia's close enough - to her, his attack will probably be his non-mixed effect on allies - a light, annoying tugging at her awareness, but manageable.))

Okay, this was awesome. He almost started to sing along, but them remembered the effect it had on him last time, and wisely refrained. He didn't move, keeping up with his own attack as long as he could, but it was apparent he was starting to tire - his limbs were shaking.

The youma shrieked, which only added to the strength of the mixed attacks - oddly enough, there was something solid under Maia's shoe - the core which kept it together, perhaps ?

Themis finally let go once the youma faded away - lowering his arm and letting the area of effect collapse down to nothing. "Im fine." He said, though he did look tired. "The more I keep my attack going, the more it wrecks me." He muttered.

But then he realized that... the senshi wasn't a senshi anymore. Tallulah had been adamant - you did not henshin up or down in front of anyone. And so he was conflicted - should he henshin down as well ? She was the only one nearby to see him.

For now, he decided to refrain, taking off his glasses to clean the specs of mud that had gotten onto them with his scarf.
