The day had begun as days usually began for him; with much mental complaining. His alarm had blared into his ear over and over until he became coherent enough to enter the code to turn it off, groaning into his pillow. Finally he lifted his head, hair in disarray and peered at the clock; he still had almost an hour to get ready to go to his first class. Caellum continued to stare in an accusatory manner at his alarm clock before sighing heavily and moving to roll onto his back and sit up, swinging his feet over the edge of the bed and moving to prepare for the day.
In all honesty the squirtle actually enjoyed a majority of his classes but he loathed waking up early to go to them. Caellum really wasn't a morning person and it simply seemed to make his prickly demeanor... Well... More prickly. Usually he spent the first couple of classes scowling in displeasure at being awake at such a god-forsaken hour of the morning and gradually became more neutral. However he had a feeling that this was going to be one of the days that he hated being awake at all.
Thankfully his trainer had brewed and left him coffee, so he quickly downed a cup of that, grimacing a little; the warmth helped... A little. However it wasn't quite enough to brighten his rather sour mood. Perhaps he'd have to look into only taking classes that were later in the day, maybe that would make his mood improve a little. With a shake of his head he slipped his sunglasses on, placed a cigarette between his lips, and slipped his backpack on, heading out the door.
Almost immediately Caellum was greeted by the chipper voices of other pokemon in the school, serving to only make his mood worse. He ignored the half-hearted greetings and hesitant waves as he headed down the hallway, positive that his expression reflected his awful mood. Thankfully his class was fairly close and and it seemed like it was also fairly empty. With a quick glance around he went to the notice board to peer at it, wondering if their test scores had been posted. Slowly he ran his thumb over the line, checking his score only to blink when something else caught his attention.
Blinking slowly, curious, Caellum turned his head to peer at the announcement. Group assignment? Frowning he peered down at the words, reading it over carefully before slowly, reluctantly peering down at the list; He knew today was going to be a bad day. Maybe that Abra would be paired with him? Or perhaps that Golduck; He seemed okay, at least. However his eyes widened then immediately narrowed in anger when he saw the name neatly printed next to his.
"No ******** way." he muttered, keeping his voice quiet and his eyes narrow as he stared at the list of names. He turned, looking back at the classroom, searching for the Charizard, then back to the list. "Of course it would be Deimos. Of ******** course."

"You're not exactly a ray of sunshine in my day either, fish."
Deimos sat upon one of the desks behind the Squirtle, one foot hiked up on the wooden panel and the other flat against the floor. With an elbow against his knee, clasping his wrist lazily and staring at the water-type with a clear and obvious scrutiny, he was quite the poster-child for disgruntled partners everywhere. Hell, he hadn't even wanted to come to class, but he had to do something that didn't involve thinking. Ever since a certain four had gone missing on one clear, unassuming day, the Charizard was beside himself with rage, betrayal and - though he wouldn't admit it - he was plagued with worry. It only served to encourage his foul mood, which is what landed him in class and some how paired with his least favorite breathing creature on the planet.
Well. That didn't account for the scientists, but they were more like scum than people.
Swinging his tail over the opposite side of the desk, he fixed his unwilling partner with an unpleasant expression, his dismayed golden eye and stubborn body language speaking much louder than any insult he could have hurled. Then again, he thought inwardly, staring unblinkingly, the worst of my insults were for survival. It was odd for him to be taking solace in his self-righteous defense, but hey, it was what it was and he'd take his wins where he got them. It was hard, though, knowing that the other generally attacked him on sight; it was a cold reminder of a certain feline that was no longer with them.
Curling his gloved fingers outwards in an elegant motion, the dragon shrugged off all his displeasure and dislike, leaving only plain indifference in his expression. "Not like we have any say in it, so let's do it and be done with it." Deimos peered thoughtfully at Caellum and, after a moment's hesitation, added, "Temporary truce. You can snip at me all you want, but let's put forth a good effort. I'm not in class enough to afford half-assing anything while I'm here." While it was true the fire-type was rarely in class, he wasn't half bad in his scores for the work done. If at all possible, he wanted to keep that streak...even if it meant compromising with Caellum.

"Turtle." he corrected pointedly, seething a little at the nickname. "I'm a ******** turtle."
Caellum continued to give the sheet in front of him a dirty look, as if with the power of his distaste alone he could make the names there change. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and, after a moment he turned and moved over to the Charizard's desk, albeit with obvious reluctance. One of their whack-job instructors had to be playing a cruel joke on the both of them as it was common knowledge that they typically didn't get along when within a ten foot radius of one another. Just looking at Deimos made his eye twitch in annoyance; the way he was sitting, the way he talked, everything just seemed to piss him off more. Then again, it had been one of those mornings that just never seemed to get any better.
"A truce?" he questioned, staring at him before rolling his eyes and shaking his head, moving to take the seat next to the other man. "You can have your truce but you better ******** do something on this project. No way am I doing all the work just to keep your lazy a** afloat."
Caellum, unfortunately, tended to take note whenever anyone was missing in class, mainly because he typically sat in the back. It was easy to notice who was present and who was not from his vantage point and he knew that he hadn't seen much of Deimos' massive wings or else he would have bitched about being able to see more often. After all he enjoyed knocking the Charizard down a notch or two, especially when he was being arrogant.
"And you better do a good job, too. I'd like to keep my grades where they are."
