Fifth was mildly nervous about the student that he was preparing to teach that day. Sure, he had been able to deal with a good amount of wrath kids up until now, but most of them had been virtue-dominant or... Ilyrosa. Who, let's face it, was virtue-dominant as far as his classes were concerned. This time, even if the boy's virtue was dominant, Fifth would still be nervous. Because Chastity didn't seem like it was a very powerful virtue, especially when paired with wrath. Then again, that wasn't really important, because Roman -at least, that's what the file called him- was wrath-dominant. Barely. On top of that, Fifth had to teach him how to fly, which was a difficult task to learn on its own, let alone with four wings to coordinate the movement of. On top of that, he probably had to do all of it without touching him.
Great.
Sighing softly and running a hand through his great mane of hair, Fifth walked through the sterilized building, earning the usual strange looks and scurrying of techs away from him considering his formidable size and the fact that he was a giant golden blob of muscle. Shifting awkwardly around a few carts and groups of gathered whitecoats, the gryphon finally made his way outside, where the Autumn air was crisp and fresh, albeit a bit chilly. Grumbling softly to himself as he made his way toward the clearer portion of the field outside the Facility, he stretched his large wings widely behind himself, flapping them slightly to get them accustomed to the movements again. At the creaking and complaining of joints and muscles that were overdue for some exercise, he snarled softly, wincing in a bit of pain. Well, looked like this was shaping up to be a learning experience for the both of them...

With his hands buried deep within his pockets, Roman followed the directions of the techs he met to find his instructor. This was the first time since his adoption that he was back at the labs, and to be split off from his twin was slightly...strange. And he didn't like it at all. His bitter orange eyes squinted at the sudden brightness of the outside until he'd adjusted. The child took a deep breath, and slowly calmed. The agitation in his veins quelled down now that he wasn't boxed in on all sides.
The further Roman walked, the more he became aware of a giant gold blob. And how eerily similar he was to the man that Lissy had told him about. Anyone who was a friend to Lissy was an instant enemy to Roman, because as far as he was concerned all of her friends were a little too bubbly, and WAY to touchy-feely.
Adjusting his shinai between his shoulder blades, Roman spoke, "'m here."

On the contrary, Fifth had nothing to rate the persona of his new student by, unaware of their shared knowledge of Elisabetta; well, he did have his combination, but that wasn't enough to completely gauge him on. After all, each child was a different person. Shared blood or not, he shouldn't be judging and preparing for these kids without thinking of them as individual children instead of experiments. Making a slight face, he shivered to himself. Blech, if he was thinking like that, he'd be thinking like the techs!
"Blech..." Fifth mumbled aloud to himself, only a moment before the soft voice cut through the air, the lionlike ears atop the man's head swiveling toward the source of the noise before he turned to the boy, looking surprised for only a moment before letting a smile grace his golden features. "Ah. So you must be Roman, I take?
"Good to see you today; I'm Fifth Avenue, feel free to call me Fifth, no title needed. Now, did anyone tell you what you were going to be learning today?"

Roman nodded when the gryphon mentioned his name, standing as tall as he dared. His cream colored wings hung limply behind him without any real muscle movement at all. After all, it was how Kieran's looked, so why wouldn't they be the same?
He shook his head slowly...then nodded, then furrowed his brow. "Yes...no..no, maybe?" Roman shrugged. "Didn't listen."

Fifth had nothing but patience as he listened to what Roman was saying, one golden eyebrow slooowly arching over one of his jade green eyes as the answer to his question was changed repeatedly. Huh. Well, regardless of what the final outcome would be, the spawn seemed so confused that the man had already decided it would be best to remind him at the very least. Once again, those golden wings of his stretched out, his shoulders rolling back a bit as he tried to rid himself of the kinks.
"No matter. Even if you had listened, you'd probably have to listen again, because teachers like me get paid by how long it takes us to tell you what to do," Fifth said with a joking grin, hoping that he was understood in being not like the rest of the employees here, though the grin would fade fairly quickly if Roman remained serious, which... didn't seem like such a stretch.
"That aside, the reason for our class being outside today is a simple one: I'm going to be teaching you to fly," he explained simply, smile on his face, something that quickly turned from confidence to sheepishness when he winced at a crack! coming from one of his large golden wings. "Well... I'm gon'na try, anyway."

Roman's predatory eyes, though untrainted, watched Fifth's wings very carefully. They were huge; big enough to swallow his own whole and that concerned him.
Then he cocked the corner of his mouth up, drawing his eyebrows down. Ever so slowly his lips drew back into a little grin. "No ramblin'." He joked, at least, partially. Roman wasn't mentally slow by any means, but by George, he would play it if Fifth got too wordy.
"How to fly?" He hadn't even thought about flying before. Since his sister Aile didn't have wings, and he fought with her on the ground, it hadn't occured to him that he would ever need to fly. His curious face slipped into apprenhension when he heard the crack. "Do those things even work?"

The fact that he was actually able to lure a smile out of the boy assuaged a good portion of Fifth's fears. Chuckling softly at the simple response that he was given, he grinned back and gave a joking salute. "Aye-aye, Captain," he replied, assuring that he would try to keep his lecturing to a minimum, though he was going to have to ramble at least a little bit. As far as the captain part was concerned, well... let's just leave it at the fact that his son's pirate addiction was getting to him.
When his words were repeated in the perplexed tone, he simply nodded, the irritated wing wrapped halfway around him so he would be able to massage the spot that hurt, a slight frown creasing his brow. A faint flush and that same sheepish smile rose to his face when Roman questioned whether or not his giant wings would even work, and he gave a shrug of his shoulders, releasing the hurt wing and going back to trying to stretch them out.
"Honestly, I'm not sure. They used to, but it's been quite a while..." he mumbled softly, going through the motions [or what he remembered] of flight. This... might be kind of difficult. As far as he could remember, he'd actually been, y'know, smaller when he'd last flown. It was going to be difficult to do this again, but he would deal with it. "So I guess we'll both be learning something today. Any last words before we get started?"

Roman instinctively took a step forward, with his hands outstretched, then jolted back to reality and retreated. "Wrong. Gotta pinch them," he stated irritably, in his gravelly little voice. It was becoming stronger the more he used it, but after going mute for so long it had taken on a raspy tone. "Pinch and twist." Demonstrating, he yanked one of his wings over his shoulder and tried it out. After being in one too many wrestling matches, a kid tended to learn new tricks.
Rolling his shoulders back, the mixed spawn let out a shaky breath and shook his head. "Catch me." Even if he wasn't sure if Fifth could do it, he did NOT want to take a swan dive into death.

Fifth looked rather surprised when he was so directly and bluntly corrected by the other, eyes widening a bit as Roman demonstrated what it was he was talking about. It was after another moment of thought that he realized what it was that he meant. "Ah. I see what you're talking about," he said simply, pulling the same wing around him once again and mimicking the movement a time or two on the pained area before releasing the appendage, streeetching it out once more. Huh. Seemed to work well enough, too.
"Thanks for the advice," he added, only thinking it right to treat his students and their advice just as he would treat advice from anyone else, not taking notice of the rasp of the wrath spawn's voice. When the statement was made, Fifth grinned a bit and gave a firm nod of his head, assuring him of that fact.
"Don't worry, that I'll be sure to do. If I can get into the air on top of that, I'll be sure to catch you even sooner," he noted, tail flicking gently. Once again, he spread his wings, though this time with an honest purpose in mind for them. "Now tell me, do you want to start in the air or on the ground? If you start in the air, it'll be easier, but you'll have to learn fast. From the ground, it'll be harder to get started, but you'll have more control on altitude."

Roman nodded curtly, glad that his advice seemed to help instead of hinder, even if he didn't show it. He didn't like to see anyone in pain unless they deserved it, and so far his teacher didn't. Whether those feelings were the same at the end of the day, was up in the air.
Well that was...comforting. Roman looked up at the sky and being a live-in-the-moment type of kid anyway, the decision seemed obvious. "In the air. If I can't do it, I want to know soon." The way he said it was calm enough, but his tone was solid. Roman didn't believe in second chances.

Fifth couldn't say that he was surprised with the choice of the two that his student gave him, and nodded curtly in response. "As you wish," he said idly, wings stretching to their fullest reach before slamming down and forward as hard as they could. The last thing the gryphon had been expecting was to actually be lifted into the air, whiiich was what made the situation not a big surprise to him. Despite stirring up quite a bit of wind, he hadn't done a lot in that single motion.
Focusing his attention skyward, he practically glared into the blue yonder, dedicated to actually getting himself off the ground as he bent at the knees, pumping his wings harder and faster with each motion. Finally, the movements seemed to be making a difference and with a powerful thrust of his golden wings, he jumped upward. For a second, he had to beat his wings even harder to get himself completely airborne, falling back for a moment before he actually got the hang of it, doing his best at hovering about ten feet above the ground.
That finally decided, he touched back down, looking at Roman for a moment inquisitively. "Starting in the air means one of two things. Either we need a cliff, or I need to get you up in the air; unfortunately for you, I haven't seen many cliffs around, and the Facility isn't quite tall enough to give you a good chance. How do you want me to go about hefting you skyward, then?" he asked, feeling a little off about how many questions he was asking the boy who had told him not to ramble. However, he figured that it was a better idea to ask a chastity kid how he wanted to be handled than just assume one way or another. Dealing with Damien had a surprisingly similar flavor to it, it so happened.

Roman lifted his arms to shield him from the wind. He coughed and lowered his head, peering underneath his forearm to get a look at his teacher. It was slightly enchanting to watch the way his wings moved like they were a natural part of him instead of the gangly twigs Roman was cursed with. And once he was actually airborn, the spawn pulled back his arms to stare.
While scowling in the disgust, he stepped forward. "Just shut up and pick me up." He wanted to do this. He really wanted to. Exspecially now that it seemed so much closer to being accomplished. The glow in his eyes was unmistakable. However, he was tense and anticipating the man-handling with extreme nauseating dread. It made him sick to think about someone touching him, but it was a small price to pay to fly.

Fifth had rightfully predicted how uncomfortable the wrath / chastity boy was about the idea of being handled at all. After all, Damien was horrible about that sort of thing and he didn’t even have chastity blood, only humility; the idea of an even more severely strict virtue seemed like it would be even worse. Yet it was apparent by his continued insistence that he was willing to make a sacrifice to be able to fly, and if he was going to do that, then Fifth was going to suffer through whatever flailing might ensue. He’d dealt with worse in his couple hundred years of life, after all.
“Alright, I’ll try to make this as painless as possible. Tense the muscles in your arms as much as you can, and raise them up to shoulder level, bent at the elbows. Don’t flap until I tell you to,” Fifth instructed simply, speaking loudly to compensate for the loud wooshing caused by his too-big wings. As soon as the instructions were followed, he took hold of the boy around his upper arms, right next to where they connected to his shoulders. Still hovering was the hardest part for Fifth up until this point, and now that he had hold of Roman, he no longer needed to do that.
“Hold tight to my arms if you want to. If not, brace yourself,” Fifth stated, completely business-like at the moment, something that was rare for the careless gryphon. Taking a deep breath, he beat his wings harder than he had been, in a much less controlled manner, launching himself and the wrath boy up into the air.

Roman did as he was instructed and waited. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6- RAWR. The child instantly struggled as soon as Fifth touched him, kicking out with his legs in an attempt to escape. A low, deep growl rumbled out of his mouth with several biting attempts at Fifth's hands.
After that, it was a scream.
He held onto Fifth's arms for dear life. Every extremity he posessed shrank up as tightly as they could to his body. His heart raced inside of his chest.

His own wrathful son kept Fifth from immediately dropping the chastity boy when he started thrashing. His grip merely tightened to compensate for the way the boy was flailing around, being more willing to risk getting clawed up with those raptor-like feet of Roman's than to suffer whatever would happen if he dropped the poor kid. Between the fact that he actually kinda liked the little monster and all of the paperwork and the fact that he would lose his job... it really wasn't something he would like to happen.
The man's ears turned back against his head at the scream as they continued ascending. At risk of more fury being directed toward him, he tucked Roman a bit closer to his chest, making them more balanced until they were up high enough that Fifth would have a chance to drop fast enough to catch him and Roman would have enough room to beat his wings like crazy on the way down, and at least slow his fall. If they were lower, he wouldn't get the chance.
"Sorry I had to get you up so high but, though you might not believe me, it's safer this way. More chance of you to get flapping, more chance for me to catch you otherwise," he explained loudly over the whooshing of his wings. "Alright, first step, you're gon'na have to extend yourself a bit. Don't let go yet, I won't either, just let down your legs, let out your wings, and start flapping. Got it? And again, I swear that I will not let you fall."
