It was pretty late at night and Kathryn was walking down the streets of downtown Destiny City. Earlier in the week, her cousin Tallulah had shown her around town, pointing out various clothing stores & cafes. While she appreciated the tour and enjoyed awkward quality time with her cousin, she was severely lacking in the one thing she absolutely needed to have- and that was some brand spankin’ new technology to feed her obsession.

She frowned at the fact that she forgot to ask Tallulah to show her where the nearest tech-related store was around here as she meandered along the lit up street she thought was the one she had once been on. She sighed and stopped walking, when she realized she was pretty lost. Placing her hands on her hips, she looked up at the shop signs trying to figure out exactly where she was and where to go from here. Where was that damn hippie café? That was the only place she could recall from their earlier day trip.

She tapped her chin for a moment, deep in thought. With that, she shrugged her shoulders, turned on her heel and walked down the first alley she saw- maybe the café was on the next street over.

Kat stopped dead in her tracks for a moment, in the middle of the dark alleyway. Her eyes shifted back and forth, she then spun herself in a circle while looking upwards. She could swear she heard something! She listened carefully for a brief moment, shrugged her shoulders, and continued on her way, the black and white tentacle following behind her.

And then she heard something a second time- but this time she knew she wasn’t imagining things. She spun on her heel and peered down the alley, her eyes falling on … a cat? Her head tilted to the right ever-so slightly and then she suddenly burst out into laughter. All this time she was freaking out over a cat? She shook her head and sighed in embarrassment before walking in the cat’s direction.

As she approached the cat she knelt down to meet it at its level. As she reached out to pet it (not even considering the fact that it could be a feral stray, or have some sort of disease), she stopped herself and pulled her hand back, noticing the star on its forehead. She thought this through for a whole second, shrugged, and reached back out to poke the star.

Kat pulled her hand back when the cat shook her head- it was pretty obvious she didn’t appreciate the poking. Her eyes widened suddenly as she heard what she thought was a cat yelling at her. Maybe she was in one of those infamous comas Tallulah had told her about. Did she hit her head while walking in the alley?

She squealed rather loudly when she felt something brush against her back and she dropped down to the ground as the cat instructed her to do. She quickly turned onto her back and slid herself back a few feet, staring in disbelief at the tentacle in front of her. Apparently Tallulah hadn’t lost it after-all, Kat thought to herself as she kicked and flailed at the tentacle that was trying to grab her.

“Where the hell am I s’posed to go!?” she yelled at the cat, her voice a high pitched and panicked whine.

Kat glanced back at the cat for a second long enough to see her point to herself, before her attention snapped back to the tentacle trying to grab her. She kicked her feet at the tentacle again and pushed herself back on the pavement again to make a little more distance between herself and the monster.

Kat frowned when the cat yelled at her to run and leave her behind. She was determined to get herself and this strange mystery cat out of here alive. She shook her head quickly, as if snapping herself out of a daze. With that she took a deep breath, jumped to her feet, scooped the cat up in her arms and took off running.

“I’m not just gonna leave you there, are you crazy!?” She snapped at the cat as she ran- to where she had absolutely no clue. And then she realized she was yelling at a cat. A talking cat. Maybe she was the crazy one. She continued to run down the empty street, before skidding and sliding into a different dark alley a ways away from the one she was previously in. She stopped, leaned against a wall, closed her eyes and let out a heavy sigh, still clinging for dear life to the cat in her arms.

Kat very obviously wasn't good at taking hints. Especially not from talking cats. Especially not from talking cats while trying to live through a monster attack. She was oblivious enough as it is without having all of these ridiculous distractions! With her eyes still closed, she sloooowly slid down the wall until she came to a sit on the dirty ground. She released her death grip on the cat and crossed her arms over her chest, her eyes glaring.

"The 'ell do you mean I'm the one that needs assistance?! I just saved you from some crazy ******** tentacle monster!" Her English accent was very prominent and heavy on her words as she got more heated. Her eyes shot up to look at the rooftops surrounding her and she whimpered. Her voice dropped down to a whisper now, "It's really coming this way? What the hell does it want from me? Is it going to kill me? Do these monsters work for those terrorists everyone keeps telling me about? What on earth could you possible have for me? You have no where to put it anything!"

She went on and on, berating the poor cat with what seemed like 100 questions.

Kat watched, dumb-founded look on her face and jaw dropped as she watched the cat backflip and have items appear on the ground in front of her. She reached out, scooped the two items into her hand and stared down at them. A cell phone and a pen. Clearly not just any cell phone or pen, if a cat can backflip and make them appear they must be some sort of special items.

She shrugged her shoulders, figuring she probably shouldn’t ask any more questions for the time being, and pocketed the small phone. Now she held the pen firmly in her hand and stared at it briefly. She looked at the pen, then down at the cat, then at the pen and down at the cat. Was she serious? How can this be anything -but- a joke? She shook her head and laughed. “You’ve got to be kidding me…”

She met eye to eye with the cat and realized she was indeed being dead serious. She sighed, pushed herself up to her feet so she was standing, and looked down at the cat again. “Alright, here goes nothing..” Her right hand, clutching the pen, was thrust up into the air and she bellowed out “Leto Power, Make-up!”

And that’s when it happened. The air shimmered around her, her clothing changed and a tiara appeared on her forehead. When it was all over, she starred down at herself in complete disbelief.

Leto? Is that my new name? she wondered silently to herself. She’d have one hundred and one questions later. Could she tell Tallulah about this? Would her cousin shun her if she knew she was some terrorist prancing around in booty shorts? Leto crouched down to the ground to listen to the cat’s instructions, as she made a mental note to ask her her name when this was all over. Youma. She ran that word through her head a few times, assuming that a youma was whatever the hell was trying to grab her.

“Leto Camouflage Illusion… Alright, I think I can handle that.” She grinned broadly at the cat and nodded, pushing herself back up to stand. It was time to nut up or shut up- this was it. She was pretty damn determined to get this right. I will not ******** this up, I will not ******** this up, she thought to herself over and over again.

She stood in the middle of the alley, hands balled up into fists at her side, her head raised so she could watch the rooftops intently. She was as ready as she’d ever be.

She immediately saw it coming- that familiar black and white stripped tentacle. Her fists tightened and her eyes widened. Soon it was just 3 feet in front of her. She shook her head as if to clear it of all thoughts.

As if it was second nature, her legs shifted so they were just past shoulder-width apart. Her hands shot up over her face, her palms facing outward, fingertips of opposite hands barely touching. Her eyes closed, and she shouted “Leto Camouflage Illusion!” as she pushed herself up against the brick wall. The air surrounding her suddenly felt a lot heavier than usual.

She opened her eyes and held her breath. She felt funny, but had no idea that she was invisible to the naked eye of any human. ********* however, was close enough that she could likely see her. The tentacle was moving in, closer and closer. Hopefully the cat had a plan, because beyond this Leto was pretty useless.
