Nicholas sat in his wheelchair and gazed out a window. The patter of raindrops striking the brick sill and pane of glass filled the quiet library with a steady thrumming white noise that he imagined would be soothing enough to put someone to sleep. Resting in his lap on top of his slightly withered legs, a closed romance novel depicting a beautiful blond woman dressed in a ethereal white gown was carried in the arms of a overly muscular and shirtless man with a perfect tan. When it rained his back tended to pain him, and today was no different. Now and then he caught a glimpse of a break in the gray clouds above. Just for the fraction of a second he saw the beautiful pure blue of the sky, hidden behind the dreary gray. Nico gently ran his fingers over the slightly upraised gold embossed title of the book in his lap.

Nathan would not be by to pick him up for another hour. Nico had tired of browsing the shelves at his own reachable level, and he would not bother any of the librarians to help him look through the upper half of the book shelves. His pale lavender topped head rested back on his shoulders as he cast his gaze to the sky above. He disliked the rain...it made him feel more keenly aware of the moments when his own sense of sadness was present. When it was clear and sunny, he could easily smile and the world seemed far more bright. Warmth coupled with the brightness of the colors around him made it so easy to smile! Then, when it was like this, he felt like the sunlight was just...beyond his reach. If only he had wings...then leg's would not matter. He could stretch them wide up, fly up into those clouds, and burst through to where the sun always shone. He could always be bathed in the warmth and brightness. He would never have to endure the suffocation of gray.

Nico shook his head and pushed his palm against one of his chairs wheels. He was letting himself get caught up in these depressive emotional feelings. It was so stereotypical for a boy in a wheelchair to look all sad eyed out the window as it rained. Nico disliked fitting such stereotypes. That was why he made no effort to hide his less then manly interests. The book-bag slung over the back of his chair proudly portrayed a uber cute winged bunny rabbit, with anime styled blue eyes, from a manga that Nico had fallen in love with. The books tucked into it were a mix of 'How to Sew' books for ball jointed dolls, anime manga with scantily clad magical school girls, and mythology based works of non-fiction.

(Nari volunteers for this!)

Kaminari felt great to be back in her hometown again. It had been a while, so she decided to see how much things had changed since she'd moved a few years ago. She was dancing down the sidewalk, her ladybug umbrella twirling as she spun it, and twirled herself, shaking water in all directions as she jumped over puddles. When the clouds gave glimpses of the sky, she always looked to see if there was a rainbow. Half the time she moved her umbrella to far away from her head so she could see that she was getting wet anyways.

When she stopped outside the library, she looked up. She remembered coming here with her mom a couple times, but she had come here so often with her affectionately dubbed 'Kuma-papa.' She skipped up the few steps to the door and when she was under the eves, shook her umbrella before closing it up and stepping inside. It seemed there were a good number of people here, probably hiding from the rain or something. She shrugged and walked in, checking her umbrella in up front so it wouldn't get water all over everywhere. She started to wander the shelves, looking for anything interesting. She stopped, passing by a book about beetles, and picked it up. She also found a sewing and craft book, and an idea was forming in her head. She looked around for a place to sit for a while to look through the books. It seemed every table had at least one person. She was going to have to sit with someone.

Walking around a little, she caught site of something adorable. It wasn't just adorable, it was SUPER adorable. She slowly walked over to the boy with the bunny bag. She wasn't sure exactly how to start the conversation, so instead of dancing around the subject, she softly cleared her throat, hoping she wouldn't startle the boy, then stated "Your bag is really cute. Where did you get it?"

Nico hear a soft sound and lifted his head a little. Peering up, he found his silver eyes blinking at a strawberry blond haired girl. Instantly Nico's cheeks gained the palest of pink hues. His lips curled upwards faintly into a small smile. "My bag?" He repeated her words and tilted his head a little to look over his shoulder. He could not exactly see anything more then the strap of the bag over the handle of his chair, and the tip of one bunny ear as well.

"Oh. I made it actually. I couldn't find anything I liked online so I just designed what I wanted and made it myself. I'm glad you think it's cute." He informed the girl. Nathan had expressed such disapproval when he had shown his brother the bag. It was good to see that others admired it.

She nodded as he spoke. "Well, it's really really cute. Mind if I sit with you?" She had a bad habit of not waiting for answers and she sat down at the table across from the boy in the wheelchair. "The only thing that would be cuter is if it were a bug." She smiled. "I suppose I should have guessed that it was hand made. You can't really find anything that looks that good and would still be functional from a lot of mass produced things. You either get cute and flimsy, or utilitarian and lasts forever." She shrugged and was about to open the books she had brought over when she seemed to remember something.

"AH!" She was instantly sushed by someone near by. "Whoops. Anyways, I'm Kaminari." She held her hand out to the lad. "Sorry, I sort of forgot to introduce myself and got carried away."

Nicohlas watched as the girl would ask, then sit herself down at his table. Not that he minded. Had he been given the chance to answer he surely would have told her yes. His silvery eyes lit up at the clear praise he was receiving from the girl. "A bug? I'm not really interested in bugs so much, but I guess it could be cute as a bug too." He admitted, then paused as she continued on to introduce herself.

Nico looked over as they were shushed by someone at the next table, then turned his gaze back to the girl. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance miss Kaminari. My name is Nicohlas Montibello." He introduced himself in return, then reached his small hand across to offer to her. "I attend school at Valley High. Do you as well?"

Since he gave his last name, she decided to add hers. "Laxdale. Er, Kaminari Laxdale. It's nice to meet you. Feel free to call me Nari." She took his hand and shook it. "Valley? Oh, yeah! I start there in a couple days. I just moved back to town. I think I'll be in school starting Monday. I'm kind of excited." She was smiling happily as she tried to keep her voice down. "Hey, what grade are you in? Maybe we'll be in the same class. That would be pretty awesome, don't you think?"

Nico felt himself flushing with mild embarrassment. He lifted a hand and ran it through his short blond hair. Nari looked like she was older then thirteen, and by most standards that would mean she would certainly be in a grade higher then himself. He could not stop himself from smiling a little as he muttered in answer. "I..am actually in the twelfth grade. It would be nice to have some classes together with you. If you ever need notes, I'm very good at taking them. Oh! And if you need help studying I can help with that too."

Nico pushed the wheels of his chair back a bit, and turned himself around to better face Nari. "If you want to talk more, why don't we go out into the lobby? So we don't get shushed again. I need to wait there for my brother anyways."

Nari sighed and shook her head. "Awww... I'm only in 11th grade. No fair. I'm not going to meet anyone in my class before school starts." She sighed then tapped her chin a moment. "Oh? Sure. I need to check out these books anyways." She stood, gathering her books. "Do you need any help or anything?" She asked, looking at the books on the table, wondering if they were his, or if someone had been inconsiderate and left all their books on the table.

"Meeting students in class isn't so bad." Nico replied as Nari would hang her head. "It will give you a better chance to watch them, see how they interact and respond to the teacher. So you know who you may get along with before approaching them." When Nari would agree to move their conversation out of the main library hall he began to pile the books on the table before him.

"Oh? No no. I have this." He cheerfully replied as he reached around to secure his custom backpack on the handles of his chair. Expertly he began to layer the books inside, so they were as neat and organized as he had them on the table before him. Once he had filled his backpack, he tugged the zipper up to the top, then took hold of the wheels and maneuvered himself towards the door."

Nari took a moment to check out her books. It took a few minutes because she needed to get a new library card. The one she previously owned, she was still in grade school when she'd gotten it.

"Sorry that took a while." She apologized when she caught up to Nicolas in the hall. "You know, you're right. Meeting in class isn't too bad. But at the same time, don't you want to get to know someone outside of class? Find out who they are when they're not studying... or... sleeping through class? Well, whatever. I just really want to meet people. I'm looking forward to seeing if I remember anyone from grade school." She shrugged before sitting on the plush bench. "So you said you have a brother? What's he like?"

Nicohlas waited rather patiently for Nari to finally join him at the doors. As he waited he watched the rain streaking the windows. His silvery eyes followed the beads of clear water sliding down over the glass until they hit the sill and joined the puddle pooling there. Hearing her voice, he turned his chair a little to face her and smiled rather brightly. "Oh it was nothing. Do you have your books now Nari? Are you waiting for someone to pick you up?"

He paused and tilted his head to one side. He didn't want to admit to Nari that he never really had a good experience with classmates. All the same, he could not lie to her. "Honestly,I have never had any luck with my classmates. Most kids don't like a little kid smarter then them around. Some people are just very self conscious about their intellect I guess." Nico scooted his chair closer to the bench where Nari was sitting, and his features brightened considerably when the topic moved onto his brother.

"Nathan? Oh,he's great. He always takes good care of me. He helps me with my home work if I ever need it, though this year it seems more like I'm helping him." Nico lifted his hands and made a gesture upwards. "Nathan...you can't miss him. His hair is darker then mine, but the same tone, and he's really cool. I think you'll like him! Maybe you can come and visit us at the house?"

"Yup! Got everything I need. Thanks." She swung her feet a little and hummed slightly before replying. "Nope. Now I'm just killing time getting to know my new friend." She smiled at him.

"See, this is why I like to know someone outside of class. It doesn't matter how old or young you are, or how smart or not you are. You can be you, and that's all that matters. But..." she looked up. "I'm kind of a dummy when it comes to school. I'm not too good in history. I like it, but I struggle with it. And I swear Math is the work of the devil."

Nari leaned back against the wall and looked fondly at Nicohlas. "Sounds nice. Having someone like that I mean." when he tentatively suggested she visit, Nari beamed brightly. "I'd love that, if it's not any trouble."

Nico brightened visibly at the term of 'new friend'. He had never thought he would have been able to make one just going to the library of all places. His lips parted faintly as he gave a very faint laugh. "I don't much like math either. I find it rather boring. I would rather read about other things...History not so much. People have done so many terrible things in the past." Nico bowed his head a little and ran his hand over the wheel of his chair. "When I read history, all I see are the horrible things people have done, and I can't understand why. I prefer to read fairy tales, ones where the good guy always wins. That is how I wish the world were like, though I think it would be even better if there never were bad guys at all."

Nico glanced back to Nari and grinned a little more. "Nathan is like the good guy in my life. I would like you to meet him and visit us, I'm sure Sampson will allow it. He's always saying I need more activities and interactions with people outside of the pages of my books."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 20, 2011 6:23 pm

"But if we didn't learn from our past, what hope would we have for the future? I think it's good if we learn from our mistakes." She shrugged. "The world can't be perfect. We can only take joy in the good things we have." When he mentioned he enjoyed fairytales, her smile broadened. He reminded her of someone... someone who loved mythology when they were children. "If there were no villains, you wouldn't appreciate the heroes in your life as much. You have to take the bad with the good."

With how Nico spoke of Nathan, she pictured his brother to be some sort of prince, or knight in shining armor. "Wait, who's Sampson?" She was suddenly very confused.

"I suppose you are right." Nicohlas would grudgingly answer. "That is the common string of logic that many historians use. I can't disagree with it though, as it does seem like it is a supported theory. All the same though, I prefer to think that even villains could be hero's if only someone gave them a reason to believe so." Nicholas gently rocked his chair back and forth to amuse himself. As he did, he couldn't help but blush faintly.

"Sampson is our Butler, he oversee's the house and stuff." As Nicohlas spoke, a black limo drew up before the library. Nico ceased rocking his chair and pointed a hand out towards the limo. "Oh! Nathan is here!"
