No one really wanted to do closing shifts anymore.
In a way, Xavier Avery could understand why - with all those monsters and the gang members going around, it wasn't exactly safe at night time anymore. Not that it was at daylight - he'd heard reports of the monsters striking in daytime, as well. Thankfully, he had never actually come face to face with one, and the blonde-haired boy didn't want to push his luck.
Xavier locked the door, then slipped his headphones on and turned to head back toward his apartment. The sooner he got home, the better... or so he thought.

********* brain itched.
This was a good sign, no matter what any brain surgeon would say. At least the manx thought it was a good sign. It not only meant a senshi was nearby, but more specifically, it was an asteroid associated senshi nearby. No specifics at the moment, but that would come eventually.
With a relatively perky hop to her step, the feline began to pinpoint the location of this new senshi. Peering her head around the corner of an alleyway, she managed to spot a tall figure (well, relatively speaking. ********* was a relatively smaller cat). He had something covering his ears, so most likely, he wouldn't be able to hear her if she mewed at him. Twisting her maw about a bit while thinking of a way to approach him, she noticed something else tickling her brain in an unpleasant way.
Why do Youma always show up when I do this gig? With a sigh, she shook her head, causing her bell to sing out lightly.
No time to stay idle then! In a determined manner, she all of a sudden bound forward. For being so small and a bit round, she certainly did run fast. Her eyes pinched shut in anticipation of the feeling that was shortly going to hit her noggin.
If he couldn't hear her, he was definitely going to feel her, at least that was the plan as she literally ran towards his legs.

Bonk.
Something collided head on into his left leg - and thankfully for *********, that was enough to get Xavier to stop, and look down. A part of him had been afraid to look down, really, but... ah, it was just a cat.
Weird little cat, though, with a star on her forehead... kind of pretty, through.
He turned and knelt, letting his headphones slide down at his neck (victory for ********* !) as he looked it over. "Watch out where you're going, kitty. Just let me see if you're hurt..." And if there was a tag on that belled collar. If the cat didn't belong to someone, he should probably take it home and drop it at the shelter tomorrow...

That hurt a bit, but ********* just fell back in a manner where she landed on her rump, fur puffing up instantly upon impact. Her eyes were still pinched together as she shook her head from side to side, her bell ringing obnoxiously with the swift motion. Her eyes eventually popped open to find not only the boy had stopped, but was even looking at her.
Oh, his headphones are off too now! She almost seemed to perk up immediately upon seeing such, letting out a pretty convincing cat noise. It was almost as if she was begging for the boy to pick her up. It probably didn't help any that her pale green eyes were on his pale blue ones, giving the feline equivalent to "puppy eyes."

Well, the cat didn't really look hurt, thankfully. Xavier petted the top of her head gently as he looked at her collar - she had a collar, but no id that he could see it on it - only a bell. Hmmm. At any rate, he should get going home.
Thankfully, Xavier had never be one to resist a nice pair of 'kitty' eyes - ********* was picked up on the spot, set against his shoulder with one arm supporting her back paws, and the blonde boy went on to continue his way. There was no problem with this strange cat staying at his apartment for now - Tempo was used to other cats.
Unfortunately for *********, now his free hand was moving to pull up his headphones back in place...

Now that she was up, the cat seemed to have no problem taking advantage of it. The boy didn't need to use his arm to support her for long, for rather quickly she managed to somehow squirm up and onto his shoulder. She stood there rather easily, balancing as any other cat might. ********* might have been a bit round, but she was also small, making her much less of a burden than other cats.
In an effort to prevent him from putting his headphone back on, she leaned in and rubbed her cheek against his ear before giving it a gentle scratchy lick around the fleshy shell.
"Did you know I have a secret to share with you?" she pretty much purred into the ear in a whispered tone.

Xavier didn't seem to mind the cat moving to balance on his shoulder - she was roundish, yes, but overall small and rather light, and he had a rather broad shoulder. It all worked out well.
But then the cat licked his ear. That was a little weird, but had the desired effect of making Xavier forget all about his headphones. But then there was the whisper, and he stopped dead in his tracks. It came from the side the cat was on, but still, he comically looked left, right, then left again. But there was no one there, and certainly no one close enough, beside cars zipping by.
Like 99% of Destiny City's population of normal individuals, Xavier did not process 'talking cat' first thing. But his expression was downright hilarious.

"You need to keep moving actually... keep moving or one of those monsters will get you..." As if to encourage him, she purred and rubbed her cheek against his ear again. There was a youma coming, and it was approaching fast. It must have been pretty hungry for starseeds if it was focusing in on them so quickly.

He looked again. Still no one near him, beside... well, the cat. This had officially slid down in the 'probably a crazy dream' theory, and so Xavier started walking again. He couldn't hear anything but the cars zooming by, and those strange whispers, but he wasn't very keen on facing some sort of crazy a** monster, even if it was probably a crazy red bull fueled dream.
"How far is it ?" He addressed... well, the only thing that could have remotely have whispered at him was the cat, and he still refused to process talking cat.

For a moment, ********* eyes glanced up towards the tops of the buildings surrounding them. It was closer than she would have liked, in all honesty, but it fortunately had been taking the rooftops, so there was still some distance until it decided to finally strike.
It wasn't going to give her much time to sort out this issue with the senshi she was now hitching a ride on.
Returning her attention to the ear, she didn't hint to her obvious distress and instead remained that friendly, helpful voice of reason. "If you happen to come across a store that's open that would have a public access restroom, please go in there for now. It would be safer for now." Once more, she gave him a kitty kiss along his ear, as if attempting to reassure him.

Store with a public restroom ? Uhhh... Xavier looked around again, but not with the completely clueless look he had once sported. "Most stores are closed at this time..." He'd just closed the one he worked at, after all. "There's a department store that might be open, but it's a fair bit away."
The kitty kisses were cute, but not very reassuring - crazy red bull fueled dreams or not, he didn't like the idea of something nasty lurking near him. He started walking a little faster.

It was indeed a valid point. However, they needed some sort of cover. Anything to prevent the youma from striking when they least expected it. "What about restaurants or fast food places? Are there any nearby?" Her little kitty tummy couldn't help but rumble at the thought of food. However, she ignored the tummy gurgles for now and kept to business. Safety first. Snack, maybe later.

He could have sworn he saw something moving in the corner of his vision - but it was hard to say if it was actually anything, or paranoia at this point.
He was nearly running by now.

The pale blur of color that the boy saw from the corner of his eyes almost seemed to growl as its "easy prey" seemed to pick up pace. Why did those starseeds have to always pick up pace when it was near their demise? With a slight grumble, it also picked up pace.
The pace they were taking was quite good now. Very satisfactory. The cat merely purred against his ear as she made certain to keep her balance as the steed made the ride rougher for her. Every so often, her claws had to peek out slightly to make sure her grip to his shoulder was firm, and she sincerely hoped it didn't hurt too much.
"Oh, I see it there!" It was rather difficult to miss the rather large golden arches, especially at night where it lit up. As if the boy couldn't remember, she merely reminded him "Remember, go to the restroom when you get there." That way, there was the chance of having some privacy.

As it was, Xavier was wearing a jacket - October evening were quite chilly - so ********* would have to do much more than that to go though both the jacket and the sleeve of his work uniform.
He made his way there, pondering for a moment - they certainly wouldn't let him come in with a cat, wouldn't they ? "Sorry." He said, and then took her off his shoulder before sliding her in though the unzipped part of her jacket before entering and making a straight bee-line for the restroom. It wasn't very convincing - there was a bump in his jacket and one of the clerks gave him an odd look as he slid by, but then apparently decided it wasn't his problem, and kept on cleaning the tables of the dining area.
Once in the restroom, he locked himself in a stall and let the cat out again.
