This is Private RP between Mayu [OrionDeltaOmega] & SiMa Li [Chrystali]

Setting;;
Imperial City [ Western Quarter ] Docks.
Late Noon
PostPosted: Fri Oct 15, 2010 12:58 pm

The sound of waves roaring down the coast and slamming into the walls of the main dock areas filled Mayu's ears, droning out all other sounds and quelling the rush of thoughts present in Mayu's mind. It had been a long day, even with how early it still was, leaving Mayu with a slew of things to ponder about. Graduation day was slowly drawing near, soon she'd be out and able to join the ranks of the Noble Retainers or the Emperor's Legion, a decision which there would be no question about.

The only issue would be her parents.

Insofar, she'd been able to do everything she could think of to keep them from knowing about her enrollment in the Academy, spewing lies about her progress in a local Charm School that Noble families sent their daughters to to learn about etiquette and other "lady-like" things, wearing a mask to obscure her features from her classmates, and taking obscure, lengthy routes to return to her families home. Everything had been going smoothly, her parents suspected nothing. Though once she graduated, and armed up, who knew how long the fake facade would last. Lost in her thoughts of what was to come and what-if's, Mayu continued to sit on the dock, swinging her legs back and forth underneath, daydreaming.

"Come on, come on! Don't keep a lady waiting!"

Li tilted her head back and laughed at the baby blue sky, the sound bouncing off the harbor rocks and swallowed by the ocean's spray. She felt good; surrounded by some of the people she adored the most on the island, enrolled in the Academy and preparing herself to make a real difference amongst her people, the fair-haired youth was on top of the world. She stood over two rowboats, a foot in each vessel and her hands on a long paddle as one might hold an eku. Indeed, the Lunarian was prepared for battle, a rare grin on her face as she turned slightly against her opponent, a surly dock-hand who easily dwarfed her in size.

Shouted bets and teasing laughter of, "Go easy on him, girl!" were lost in the raised cheer as the male and Li clashed, the wooden paddles snapping together loudly as she defended his over-head strike. The femme feigned losing her footing, prompting the large male to lean forward and off balance, allowing her to spring up and push. He caught his balance and whirled the oar around, forcing Li to duck and give her an opening to swipe the head of the wooden pole upwards towards the other's jaw. He barely leaned out of the way, the tip grazing his chin with a light red line in its wake - a burn more than a cut - and they spun the oars back behind themselves, measuring the other's strength and weak points before spinning at one another again.

It was a fast fight, each of the Lunarians swinging the pole with ease and precision at one another - there was no pulling punches between them. Seconds passed into minutes, and before three had ticked off, there was a loud splash as the male fell into the water. It wasn't because of the battle, however, but that their wild movements had unmoored one of the boats enough that it had started to separate uncomfortably from the other. Li was nearly doing the splits, laughing along with the others as the burly male surfaced, the water no deeper than his chest. The boats didn't cease their disagreeing paths, however, and with a short cry of dismay, the lotus-haired girl was dumped unceremoniously into the water as well.

It was lucky for her that it wasn't deep, but it still sent a chill of minor fright up her back as she broke the surface, shaking out her mussed hair and soaked clothing amongst the jeering laughter. Sulking just a little, Li leaped onto the unfortunate male, crawling up to his shoulder and leaping off of him onto the dock, earning more laughter as she neatly began to peel off her wet coat and skirt, her body suit already expelling what excess water it could. "My win," she informed her water-logged opponent, more laughter still following her as she sauntered off the dock and towards the rocky beach to lay out her clothing. Nothing a little sun-warming couldn't fix right up!

The battle hadn’t escaped the blue-eyed Lunarian as she lounged on the long dock, no matter if she wanted to ignore it or not. She had to admit the girl had skill with a oar and a strong flexibility and balance to stay propped within the boats. When the sparring match finally ended, Mayu caught herself cheering and laughing with the crowd from her perch farther down, wrapped up in the execution of the moves and the spar itself. Giggling as both of the Lunarians involved fell into the water, a male, the loser, and a female, deemed the winner, Mayu returned her attention to the ocean and the feel of the spray as it flew up from crashes against the docks poles, along with her dreary thoughts.

Sighing, Mayu reached up and scratched her right ear-fin absentmindedly, making sure to not dislodge the flower resting there. It really wouldn’t do for her to sit her like an overindulged, spoiled brat who had their favorite toy taken away; there was no way to predict the future and fretting over unknown’s and what-if’s would only drive her into insanity. Standing up and brushing off the back of her thighs, where her usual short kimono did not cover, Mayu glanced around in search of the sodden mistress who had been previously engaged in the sparring match. Who knows, she may be able to make a new friend. Or at least a potential sparring mate, she thought to herself with a small smile.

Laying out the soaked garments, Li stood and put her arms over her head, arching her back and offering a soft sigh of contentment as her back popped audibly. Nothing to loosen the limbs like winning a fight and being momentarily immersed in cloying water. A quick, easy smile flit over her features as she thought fondly of her dock-mates, lowering her arms to rest her hands over her hips and staring out over the water in a faraway manner. She was lucky to have such influence and she knew it, even if she never would be a creature of beauty and made into an ideal wife. This was her life.

Motion caught her attention out of the corner of her eye, prompting her to withdraw from her little daydream and turn towards the approaching female. Light brows lifted in intrigue over her bright eyes, her gaze briefly taking in the woman from toe to impressive legs, generous frame to the rather lovely face. That, she thought to herself, would be an ideal wife. Still feeling on high from her little skirmish with her friends, Li allowed herself to be a little more friendly, if not a little more forward.

"Good day," she greeted Mayu with a small but affable smile. "Haven't seen you around these parts," she started to say, adding 'I'd remember if I had' mentally, "can I help you?"

Feet padding on the beach, stretching her legs out to touch this rock here and that rock there as she made her way to the basking female, Mayu took a little pleasure in the way the rocks hardness imprinted itself through her shoes to the soft sensitivity of the feet within. It didn't necessarily hurt, but the pressure felt good to her senses. Sort of brought her back to reality, and a little out of the dreary mood she had been in.

Soon she was in pretty close proximity to the blonde Lunarian in her ocean-drenched garments, her deep purple scales catching the sunlight as she turned her head in greeting. Her voice was pleasant.

Hello and good day to you! I'm just...purveying the landscape today, in all honesty. Needed to get out and just relish in the fresh seabreezes and the sound of the crashing waves against the shore. I got to see a little bit of your skirmish out there, however, which was quite impressive. Especially with how you balanced between the two boats. May I ask the name of the victor?

Dipping down, Mayu ignored how her clothes would take the damp sand and society's view on etiquette and how she should be invited to sit down first, just this once, and took a cross-legged seat on the ground facing the harbor before her.

The woman's words made Li laugh, a soft but appreciative sound. "SiMa Li," she conceded her name easily enough, "Li, if you please, my Lady." She seemed to have no problem falling into ease with the dark-haired female's manners, brushing her own legs off in an idle gesture before carefully taking a seat next to her. In the same way, Li was rarely ever without consideration and strict manners, but what was a little chit-chat between two women? The level of comfort that she was on given her winning-high was able to equate the moment to nothing more than two women stopping to banter politely or gossip in the marketplace.

That aside, manners and etiquette rarely had place in a dock-side brawl. "Might I be so bold as to inquire your name?" Li turned her amethyst eyes over to her companion, again stricken with how bold her colors were, and how strange it was for someone so shapely and lovely to be out in her neck of the woods. She'd anticipate seeing someone of the other woman's stature bedecked in robes and jewelry enough to feed a nation. "Forgive me if I seem forward, my Lady, but we don't see a lot of gems down in our neck of the mud. I did not mean to come off as crude in greeting you."

A strong breeze seemed to whip off the top of the incoming waves, crashing into the stones and flying up into Mayu's face before spinning through the sand on the shore. Ahh, how she loved the sea and its rises and falls. Allowing herself an unfiltered giggle at the way her hair flipped through the breeze's currents, combined with Li's shining compliment, the sapphire eyed Lunarian tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before turning to face her newfound companion.

Don't worry about so many formalities today, I know I sure haven't in regards to my particular approach to you. But it is wonderful to meet you Li, my name is Mayu. As she finished her statement, she wondered just what had lodged in her mind to give her such a sense of informality with someone she just met. Normally she paid more attention to the particular paths a proper conversation should follow, but today it was as if there were no holds barred in what she had to say. It was...refreshing, to say the least.

Glancing over SiMa, for what could've been the fifth or sixth time since she had met her, she had to wonder how something so put together, both in beauty and strength, could have been forged in the harshness that is dock life. As to your second statement, I'm not so sure you give credit where it is due. You sure seem to be something that would classify as a gem, and I have no stature in class nobility that you need to pay observance too. So how did you come to be out here, working the docks? Or at least I assume that is your occupation, though you seem to have some experience in weapons and martial arts, among other things, she couldn't help but think.

"Mayu," she repeated to herself out loud, a small smile touching her lips to put a name to the vivacious woman. "The pleasure is mine - formalities or not." Dipping her feet over the edge of the rock face, she leaned back on her calloused hands, amethyst eyes flicking between the horizon and her current company - the latter of which she found to be just as lovely as the ocean view.

The flattery was terribly unusual to her, earning a startled, side-long glance and a faint, if not somewhat flabbergasted smile. "The only gem I'd be is a geode to your impeccable tanzanite, dear Mayu." Chuckling softly under her breath, she forced her attention back out to sea, now somewhat more aware that she might have been staring or otherwise being inappropriate. "I meant no overt flattering, just a casual observation. Believe me, if my friends could see you around me, they'd be flocking over to be introduced." Idly crossing her ankles, she readjusted her seated position so that she was leaning on her knees, more fully facing the expanse of ocean.

"I..grew up here," she said slowly, still in a bit of a daze. Another thing that she was rarely asked was about herself; opinions, maybe, requests, all the time -- but to know about her was entirely new. "I used to walk my grandfather here and watch the fishermen prepare their boats. They got so used to seeing me and watching me try to help that they let me come aboard when I was of age and work in honest." Li felt a little odd, talking so candidly, but...it wasn't against her better judgement, and she saw nothing wrong with answering the innocent question. "I go out to sea when I am able. They taught me how to protect myself, and I found that the life of salt air and bruises were more suitable than anything my mother might have groomed me for - much to her silent chagrin."

Li smiled then, an amused but abashed expression at saying as much as she had. Here, she'd just met Mayu, and yet she'd covered half of her history within minutes. Tucking a piece of stray lotus-colored hair behind her ear-fin, she turned the question back to the other as best she could without being repetitious. "You speak as an educated woman, you're immaculate by appearances - I'm almost afraid to ask if you do come to visit more than this one instance. We'd be at a great loss if not, and then again, I would feel most unobservant for not having introduced myself to you sooner."
