She wasn't quite ready to return to Akiiki, though she was beginning to miss her siblings and the familiar gurgle of the waters that provided them with the fish they both ate for nourishment and offered up to Reign of Terror. Of course, she had never been particularly good at fishing, but her methods were improving... Er, slightly, anyways. But that didn't mean she couldn't miss it.
She had traveled several days north, coming very close to the territory of the Aves pack. She even had a brief run in with one of it's members, Orion, and the pair had decided to see if they could set up some sort of communication between Akiiki and Aves, but it would still be a while yet before she approached her alphas concerning their meeting. For now, she was still content with just exploring what nature had to offer and learning all she could about the territories surrounding her beloved home and family.
This particular day wasn't exactly nice, but it wasn't bad. The skies were a dingy overcast, but rain was far off. The breeze felt good as it rustled her fur and she plodded along, heading north and east, in a generally cheerful mood. It was rare to see her unhappy, really, and there almost always seemed to be a spring in the step of the outgoing, young wolf. She hopped atop a fallen log and it creaked and swayed under her weight, but did not give in. She could hear a rumble of disturbed insects scrambling about beneath the bark, and it amused her. Winter was quickly approaching and she figured it might be time to consider returning home, but the wanderlust within her bosom was not yet completely slated.

Vaughn had been walking for awhile, his legs hurt, his stomach was empty and he was so confused. Was life suppose to be hurtful and pain filled, should he be destroying lives instead of trying to help them? Was he doing the right thing leaving Sparks… leaving that poor pup, he didn’t know any more time was a blur to him. How long had he been walking, should his legs be hurting or was it just in his head? Maybe he was just pushing pain on himself to make life really seem hurtful. He just didn’t know any more, should he know to begin with?
He was raised to believe in family in protecting and strength, to be noble against those who cannot or will not but then again his pack kicked him out for that very reason; he just wasn’t noble enough. So maybe he was meant to be evil? Maybe he was meant to do horrible things just as the world around him was meant to destroy his morals, his very thought of the world.
Shaking the feeling of crazy off Vaughn glanced around, where was he? How LONG had he been walking? Oh it didn’t matter, sighing Vaughn slumped to the ground his large body taking up a cool area of grass near a creek. He ignored all other sounds… Nothing mattered any more, maybe if he just closed his eyes and never opened them again things would go back to normal? His family would love him again, he wouldn’t be afraid of females… Life wouldn’t be so painful.

She plodded along, ears cocking as a familiar and comforting sound caught her attention. The gurgle of the creek was like music to her and she immediately altered her course so that she would come upon it. The light, cooling breeze ruffled the top of her head as she paused and scented the air, getting a bearing on her surroundings. She was about to continue on her way when a faint scent caught the tip of her nose. It grew stronger as the wind shifted directions and her yellow tipped tail lifted in a content wag. Male, by the smell of it, and alone. She had high hopes for this meeting, hoping that this stranger was as optimistic as the last one she had met. She lifted her head slightly and parted her muzzle, letting out a light howl to politely alert him of her presence.
After doing so, she began to pick her way towards him and towards the creek, not planning at all to change her course. She had intended on seeing the water that would remind her of her home, whether he was there or not.

Vaughn’s head shot up at the sound of a howl, scenting in the air Vaughn could feel his body tense as his old fears came rearing its ugly head. What was he going to do? Would he whimper in fear when she attacked him for trespassing on her land? Was he trespassing, he didn’t even know any longer… Would the female attack him? It seemed lightly with the events of his ‘freedom’ from his pack, maybe only he was destined to find a female that would hurt you…
But that’s not true; he did meet someone nice… One among the others who had only wanted pain, seen pain… Been through pain. His life would forever been filled with pain then wouldn’t it? Then he’ll just have to make sure to cause the pain before it is among him.

He was interesting, that was certain. Not quite what she expected. He seemed so... Forlorn. Generally unhappy. Her blue-green eyes skirted over him quickly and a smile slid over her muzzle as she continued her steady approach. She wasn't heading directly at him, rather heading to the right of him, aiming to go past, as if she had little intention of making him her prime target, although she was far too interested to just go past. She had no intention to cause him harm or to chase him off. It wasn't her land, after all, and she was merely passing through.
She held her head high and grinned broadly as she came nearer, slowing her pace as she did so. Maybe she could cheer him up a little bit, turn that frown upside down, or something...
"Hey, there? Not trespassing, am I? I didn't smell any boundary markers, but I could have overlooked 'em by accident, I suppose."

Doing his best to ignore her Vaughn laid his head back down his frown glued to his face, though underneath his skin was crawling and his hair stood on end. Even after all this time he was still terrified of females, still couldn’t rightfully deal with the opposite sex without falling into a submissive pose. It convinced Vaughn even more that he was meant to be evil, maybe that would break his fear of women… Or females, of the need to help those who would willingly hurt him.
Slowly Vaughn’s head lifted and he looked to the female, he was going to show off his fierce side but he couldn’t help himself from just staring at the female… She was beautiful, such deep blue… And such bright yellow.

She slowed to a halt and tilted her head slightly as he lifted his own to gaze at her. At first she thought he might be deaf, or maybe hard of hearing. There was recognition there, but she just wasn't quite sure, nor did she want to be, well, rude. She cleared her throat and took a few more, measured steps closer to the blue and white male and her tail began to wag again.
"S'cuse me? Sorry, I wasn't sure if you heard me or not. Is this your territory? I didn't smell any markers, but if I just missed them, I'm sorry. My name's Cascade, of Akiiki Chibale, daughter of Butterfinger and Tae. Who're you, stranger?" She broadened her grin, hoping that she being all around happy might rub off on him a bit, but so far it didn't seem to be working. A shame, because he looked like one who once smiled often, at least to her young eyes. She couldn't really imagine what would make him so dour, but then again, she hadn't exactly been exposed to many hardships.

Vaughn couldn’t seem to bring himself back to the present his thoughts were filling with his days of… everything. Why couldn’t he be happy like he use to be, why couldn’t he want to be happy, why wouldn’t he be like this female so seemingly carfare and blind of the world. But then again he couldn’t say anything, he had just learned of the cruel cruel world.
“I…” So he wasn’t trespassing but she thought she was, and she sounded so… No he couldn’t fall into another trap he wouldn’t allow himself to. “You aren’t trespassing.” His voice laced with venom Vaughn replaced his head on his folded paws.

Her ears laid back slightly as he spoke. He sounded so... Angry, but there seemed to be more sadness there than anything. Instinct told her to keep going, to avoid confrontation, but curiosity was getting the better of her and she had this strong sense, no, urge to need to know why. Curiosity killed the cat, that was what they always said. Thank goodness she wasn't a cat, but a sturdy wolf, else she might have found herself in a hell of a lot of trouble either now or in the distant future.
"Oh... Well, that's good to know. You won't mind if I rest a spell by the creek, then? Seeing as you don't own it and all~" She continued to smile and swish her tail, trying to elicit some sort of brighter mood from him. He wasn't hearing impaired, she knew that much now, and she wasn't about to stand by while another wolf steeped in his own misery.
"What ya up to, Stranger? Just wandering? That's all I'm doing, really. Exploring. What did you say your name was? I didn't catch it."

Frowning Vaughn couldn’t help but look back at the blue female, Cascade she said her name was… It matched her, a beautiful name for a beautiful female. But it didn’t matter she could hurt him just as everything else in his life had, why would he want to befriend such a beauty when he knew all there would ever be was pain and hardship.
“Victory Vaughn.” What? That’s not what he had planned to say… Growling Vaughn quickly looked away, he was suppose to be evil now, to hurt others before they hurt him to make sure he could finally be happy once he had inflicted enough pain.

"Victory..." Her voice trailed off slightly as she repeated the first half of his name. Victory Vaughn. That was, well, interesting. He must have done something interesting to be named that, right? And there she went, curiosity controlling her every move. Despite his growling, she inched nearer and sat back on her haunches, observing him with a steady gaze.
"That's interesting. I like it! How come you got Victory in your name, VeeVee? Did you do something good? Great, even?" Her tail thumped against the damp earth as she inquired him about his name, which seemed unusual to her. It implied greatness, so he had to be great, right? That was the conclusion she came to. Maybe it was why he seemed so unhappy? One ear swiveled at the sound of a bird cawing in the distance, but the other remained firmly pinned on him as she awaited a response, hopefully not in vain.

Growling Vaughn had to hold back the wince of pain he felt thinking of his name, he had been born in honorable way and he had been raised to become something great but had he? No he had be destroyed by females, by beings of his greatest fear maybe that was all he was meant to be? Truly just a weak pound of wolf that can only be abused by other wolves. His growling increased Vaughn stood and went to walk off when the pain in his legs finally hit him…
Holy ******** that hurt! Slumping to the ground again Vaughn winced in pain as he growled at his legs, he was so useless! “As you can see I’m not great.” It was more of a spit than anything else, a spit filled with pain and anger… And so much sadness for the failure that he is reminded of everyday by his very name.

Slightly perturbed, she watched him slump to the ground after a rather unhappy growl. Her grin faded slowly and she cocked her head to one side as she watched him try to stumble off. On her paws once more, she took a few tentative steps after him. Concern was evident in her features, but she was unsure if she could help him at all. Still, wasn't it worth a shot?
"What makes you say that? Just cos you're hurt? Psssssh, that doesn't mean anything. Just gotta let yourself heal up again with a bit of rest and you'll be right as rain, I bet. No reason to be upset with yourself, just cos you're a bit worn out. I think it's a nice name. Intriguing, like you're a wolf of mystery or something." She chuckled slightly as she prattled on, trying to ignore the anger that seemed to radiate off of him.

His growling faded as Vaughn tried to push himself up again only to slump back down, his knees were killing him and his stomach was starting to eat its own acid which wasn’t pleasant at all. Shaking off his need for food Vaughn tried to curl back into the ground, he would rest and he would heal and he would hunt… Glancing back to this new wolf that never seem to shut up after his obviously want of her to leave him Vaughn thought maybe… She would be a good meal?
The very thought sickened him, he wasn’t that evil… Even if he so wanted to be he wasn’t evil enough to kill and eat other wolves. That was just wrong.
“Find me food and I’ll heal faster, otherwise you are useless.” Be mean, be horrible and soulless, don’t be guilty about your words… Don’t want to say sorry right away, don’t want to work to get her forgiveness before he could even see her response.

"I'm not useless." She frowned, obviously a bit put off by his words as she watched him curl up. Hunger had a way of making wolves grouchy. Maybe a bit of food in his stomach would cheer him up? She pursed her lips slightly, unsure of whether or not she should bother bringing him back something if he was going to continue to growl and fuss at her... But there was that soft spot in her that she couldn't shake. A want to help and heal, to be useful to those around her, and to generally just be a kind wolf.
"But if you really want, I can maybe try to find us something. You're probably hungry, huh? You look like you haven't had a nice, fresh meal in a while. But I don't mean that in a bad way, you've got a pretty and shiny coat, I just mean that you sound a little hungry, is all. But yeah, I can feed you. Maybe I can catch a fish? Do you like fish? I come from a long line of fishers, after all!" Never mind that I am horrible at it...
