In the year eighteen and seventy two, one of the lesser Russian nobles found himself with a problem. His son, who had been for several years of a marital age, would not find a proper young woman, marry her, and take his responsibility as the head of the family. However, that didn't seem a likely scenario. The only women he ever encountered at all were interested in his money, and while that is rarely a problem among nobles, the fact that interest waned by morning was.
The young man promised his father that he would settle down once he'd finished his stag spree, but that was never to be.

One night, the young man and a selection of his preferred scoundrels were out drinking and riding, sadly both at the same time. This wouldn't have been a deadly hazard, but with a bottle in each hand, his grip on the horse was impaired. He fell beneath and was trampled.

In death, the man found himself repentant of his cadish ways, his heart ready to commit to a woman now that his body was committed to ground. So each night since, the young errant noble rides out, seeking a bride to warm his long cold bones and finally meet his parents' approval.
