Description: Poison Edge is, at first glance, a basic shamshir design. Curved blade, deep blood groove along the spine, razor sharp edge, and a distinctive buffalo horn handle and pommel. What differentiates the sword from others is the way it handles the poisons used by the Doku clan.
The crossbar that makes up the hilt has a hollow area on the right (if holding the sword flat) bar. Inside this hollow a small poison vial can be fitted, any poison of the user's choice. With a bit of the user's chakara (two points worth), the poison will flow out of the vial and down the blood groove that runs along the spine, held in place by the flowing chakara. For three turns the poison will stay on the blade, at which time the chakara dissipates and the poison flows off the blade. However, not all is lost.
While the poison is held in the blood groove, to poison the enemy they must be stabbed, and it's quite a distance to the groove. However, once the groove has entered the target's body, the poison will flow along the grove into the wound, directly to the target's bloodstream.
Should the user release the chakara, or the three turns elapse, the poison will flow out of the groove along the blade. Most of it will splash to the ground. Some of it will remain on the sword and its edge, giving the user a 40% chance of poisoning the enemy on contact.
With no poison used, the Poison Edge is a standard shamshir, and can be used in combat as easily as any blade.
