The seasons where changing, even more precious was to say that they had changed; the leaves had begun to turn from their luscious greens into more duller shades and in places autumn even displayed a greater hold where a few leaves had been tarnish orange and gold. The air was losing that dusty humidity that was often associated with dry summer days and was slowly becoming crisper with each given day, much more to Ulfhildr's liking. One could say old bones enjoyed warm weather however Ulfhildr found her movements to become slightly more sluggish even lethargic during the summer months, used to cooler temperatures she found the autumn and winter months far more to her liking. However with long days of travelling she was now growing tired though she would never admit to such a thing but weeks of travelling wasn't something her body could handle even if her mind was growling at in frustration. The travelling however would soon come to an end, not that she knew it, not just yet.

'Halt.' She called abruptly. She slowed her pace to a steady trot and then walked a few more paces and then finally drew to a rest, it'd do her body no good to bring it to a sudden halt after that long run. She cast her eyes to her side, Savhir kept pace with her easily and a great percentage of her wanted to lash out physically at him in frustration, he was young and his body willing, oh how she wished she was his age again. She bow her head allowing the ram horn to slip from their resting place in front of her ears and she backed out of the pelt. She sighed from the release as the weight left her shoulders and quickly offered up a daring glance at Savhir as she realised that the sigh was all to audible. Nothing came, good, she began to roll her shoulders and stretch her neck muscles, leaning her head from side to side when out of the corner of her eye she caught a flutter of black feathers, focusing in on them and her eyes narrowed at the sight. She turned towards the raven and stared at it for a long moment and then shrugged, the birds had a long association with her family and pack but this one didn't seemed at all bothered about the wolves below it.

Ulfhildr shook out her coat and then stood with her eyes closed for a moment, her mind going blank but this was momentary and she then turned and faced her male companion. 'I declare we rest for a while and then hunt, it's been a few days since we last gave time for it and my stomach is making demands of me, what do you say pup?'

Savhir wasn’t beginning to even think of the necessities of rest at that particular moment; he was much too preoccupied with the simple joys of running, really running, stretching each limb until his muscles nearly cried out, loping alongside the sheep-pelted female who had so far been a rather interesting, albeit silent, traveling partner. It was still a nice change from lying about on his lonesome, fighting off ennui and watching the seasons change... Though, arguably, he seemed better fit for the cooler weather, the bit of northern stock in his blood already resulting in a coat that itched with warm wooliness. Roll on in, Autumn, bring in the golds and reds! An amazingly distracting pelt could become the best form of camoflauge when the world about patterned itself in the same russet way, and with the promise of colder weather on the way - -

Needless to say, Savhir was quite pleased. So pleased, in fact, that when his running partner decided that the miles they had traveled were beginning to wear thin and gave a rather sharp command to stop, he let himself ease out of his sprint with an uncharacteristic amount of obeiance. So it would seem that he was often at the end of such commands, he thought absently, though he had long since left it as a personality trait with the black lady-in-wool, and he couldn’t help but admit he was somewhat fond of a commanding wolf who knew her own strengths. Weaknesses, too, if she was beginning to tire. He could afford to be a bit less weary than Ulfhildr, as his last small stretch of life had been a bit - ah - stagnant, perhaps, but still, there was much to be gained from a good rest; and even more rewards would present themselves at his paws should a small stop give him the extra burst while hunting. That magic word, Hunt, it was nearly perfect in every way!

He hadn’t been particularly hungry before, but now he couldn’t help the growling stomach and the building of slather.

Feeling a bit flushed from activity and thick fur, Savhir let his tongue loll a bit. “Still calling me pup?” he rumbled, swishing his tail from side to side for the bit of a breeze it could cause. ”I’ll not argue with your logic, I suppose… Huhm. Well then, the Pup says a rest would be granted and well enjoyed. Not to mention…”

Letting his nose wander into the air, he gave a subtle whiff for the scents of migrating beasts. An ample-sized deer sounded quite nice at the moment, perhaps a young and tender one that would put up a fight… could he have already smelled blood in the air? Perhaps he was getting ahead of himself.
