((Alright so I'm guessing this is before they met each other. This is my attempt at trying to throw something interesting in here instead of my normal "Hi, my name is __. let's be friends" for 3-5 pages XD Sorry if I failed)) How in the world had she ended up in this mess? The rain beat down so fiercely that it stung her wings and body through her coat. Zuri flapped her wings as hard as she could but that seemed to get her nowhere. She felt like a human rag doll being thrown all over the place. The wind had tossed her and threw her off course so many times that Zuri had no idea which direction she was currently facing. Rain drops strung her eyes as she tried to find a safe place to land. Everything looked the same dark grey and land was almost impossible to find.
The storm seemed to be growing worse. Lightening struck a tree top a little to close for Zuri's comfort. But it did light up the sky just long enough for the 'Phim to make out the tree tops below her. She was closer to them than she had originally thought. There was no way she could stay out here above the tree's any longer. Finding shelter was her only hope of making it through this horrid storm. Zuri dove down into the tree's. As she was about to land, the wind picked up again and tossed her sideways. She crashed through the branches of trees making the roughest landing she'd ever made.

*Nope, this is better. The 'lets be friends' thing gets hard to continue writing after a while.* Adira wrinkled her nose at all the crazy that was going on outside. A few hours ago the wind picked up and nearly slammed her into a tree right before the sky opened up and started dumping sharp arrows of rain on everything. Adira was lucky that she had found a small, mostly dry cave to hunker down in until the sky decided to calm down. She tested some weight on her front right paw. She winced, but she'd be able to use it if necessary. Her hip hurt too, but she was happy she missed hitting the branch full on; she would have been helpless if one of her wings had been damaged.
Lightning struck outside, she saw the flash through the curtain of water falling off the lip of the cave and heard the sharp crack and rumble of thunder shortly after it. Another loud crash through the darkness startled her and she poked her head out through the curtain of water to see what happened. A second flash showed what seemed to be a Phim finish her crash landing on the forest floor.
Adira was out of the cave like a shot, worried enough about the fallen creature to ignore the slight pain in her sprained paw. She came upon the other Phim, giving a cursory glance that took in her colors and gender and stored them away for a less hectic time. Right now, Adira had to make sure the other Phim was okay, and nudged her as gently as possible. "Miss? Miss, are you okay? Can you hear me?" The fallen Phim was soaked to the bone, just how long had she been out in this mess?

Zuri wasn't sure if it had been the tree or the ground that had knocked her unconscious but it was clear to her that she had been out. Her head was throbbing and her world seemed upsidedown and hazy. She had been knocked into so many things on her fall, she wasn't sure she remembered hitting the ground but she knew that's where she was now. The rain was still beating down on her, refusing to let up in the slightest. She felt like the rain was penetrating her skin and bones. The 'phim opened her eyes but the scene was no different than when she had them closed. Everything was so dark. Dark and cold. Zuri wanted to curl up into a ball but she wasn't sure she could even twitch her tail. She felt absolutely helpless as the storm raged on.
Through the pouring rain and claps of thunder, Zuri's ears caught the sound of what she thought was a voice. It sounded like a female voice but she couldn't be sure if it was real or just her mind making things up. No, it was closer now and was easy to make out as a real female voice. There was someone else out in this horrid storm? Zuri felt compelled to hurry the other fox off to shelter but the dark 'Phim couldn't move her head to see the vixen, much less find shelter for them. Somehow she knew the voice was talking to her, but her mind was fuzzy so she was having a hard time processing the words.
Zuri tried to lift herself and speak to the fox that was somewhere around her but she didn't get very far before she collapsed with a small whimper. This wasn't good, her whole body seemed to be aching. She knew she had to get out of this storm but she had no idea where the nearest shelter was. Maybe the fox that was also out here knew of a place. After a few deep breaths, Zuri tried standing and speaking once more. This time she managed to get to her feet. "Sh-sh-shel-t-ter?" She asked as she began to shiver.

The dark Phim didn't move or speak for a long time after Adira asked her questions, and the rainbow Phim feared the worse. Upon looking closer, however, she was able to make out the other's breathing through the watery gloom. If the Phim didn't show signs of consciousness soon, Adira was quite willing to carry her back to the cave and get her warmed up again. Luckily, the downed phim chose that moment to move. She collapsed again with a whimper of pain and Adira became more worried for her.
When the Phim was finally able to stand, she stuttered something that Adira could barely understand due to the stuttering. Adira quickly moved up beside the hurt Phim, leaning into her lightly, just enough to help her stay upright. She extended one rainbow wing over the hurt Phim, trying to keep as much of the punishing rain off the already soaked female. Another lightning strike lit up the area, allowing Adira to see the easiest way back to the cave.
"This way, I have a cave. It isn't too very large, but it is dry and warm." Adira told her using her weight to get the hurt Phim moving in the correct direction. "Come on, let's get you out of the rain." Adira made sure to keep her wing above the hurt Phim as they entered the cave through the curtain of water that marked the entrance.

As Zuri stood, she felt a warm body lean into her. Whoever was there with her was just as big as she was. Strange, she'd never seen a normal fox get this big before. It was even more strange that the fox had something that was shielding the rain off of her. The fox spoke again and this time Zuri managed to comprehend something about a cave and dry. Was this fox here to save her and take her to shelter? She could only hope so, because regardless of where the fox was taking her, she was going there.
The shivering was becoming move violent but not bad enough that it prevented her from moving. Zuri trudged on as her savior fox lead her to a cave. One mighty gust of wind had blown her hair from her face and she had managed to catch a dark glimps of the fox who half carried her. The fox looked like a vixen but she had the weirdest hair Zuri had ever seen. Zuri pushed the thought from her mind, she was probably hallucinating anyway.
Zuri wasn't sure she could make it much farther. Her limbs ached and the shivering was making it hard to move. She thought she might collapse again when the setting around her changed. The rain had almost instantly stopped and the ground became hard and dry. Oh right, the fox said something about a cave. She hated to impose of the foxes cozy home but she was very grateful that she had been rescued. Zuri turned her head to thank the fox for bringing her here but when she did, her world went black and she was out again.

Adira wasn't entirely prepared for the other Phim to collapse again and barely caught her as she went down. Lowering the injured Phim to the ground gently, Adira shot the Phim a worried frown. How was she supposed to help? Food maybe? Adira looked outside at the raging storm and didn't think for one second a hunt would be successful. Or in any way a good idea for that matter. Trying to find plants for healing would also be extremely difficult, and Adira didn't want to leave her alone and vulnerable. Still, there had to be something that she could do.
Another shiver racked the injured Phim's body and Adira curled around her, being careful of her injuries. All she could offer the other was warmth, but it was better than nothing. She nudged the injured Phim with her nose, gently, crooning nonsense words in hopes to soothe. "Come on, sweetie. You stay with me and tomorrow I'll get you some food, and some more help, okay?" Adira lifted one wing to wrap around the other Phim, trying to stop the violent shivers running through her injured cave-mate.

Zuri wasn't sure how long she had been unconsious because it was still storming when she woke up. Her body ached but it was more a dull throbbing now than the sharp pain she had felt before. She knew without opening her eyes that the fever she had once felt had broken and was slowly fading. The lightness and cold of the fever were still present but nearly as bad.
Despite the cold that the fever brought on, Zuri's body was rather warm. She opened her eyes and tilted her head a little so that she could made out the body of another fox pressed against her. For a moment, she was startled, but then the memories of earlier flowed back to her. There had been a big fox, about the same size that she was, with odd hair. But the lightening had flashed so quickly she hadn't been able to get a good look at the other fox.
Upon looking at her savior now, Zuri realized that she wasn't alone in a cave with just another fox. She was in the presence of another 'phim.

Adira had been dozing for some time now, not able to do much more for her charge than she had already done; at least not untill the storm let up. Thus the constant pounding of the rain, combined with the other Phim's breathing, had lulled her into a light sleep. When the other started moving about, Adira blinked awake and looked at her charge.
The first thing she noticed was that the other 'Phim wasn't shaking as badly as the night before, showing her fever was going down, if not gone entirely. Thinking the other may be a tad confused or worse, afraid, Adira gave the Phim a gentle smile. "Are you feeling a bit better, miss? I heard you land and I got you out of the storm, but I haven't been able to do much else." She explained.
"When the storm lets up, I was hoping to find you a few plants that will help with pain and bruising. And of course some food." Adira said brightly, giving the other Phim another smile. "I'm Adira."

For awhile, all Zuri could do was stare in amazement. She had been rescued by another 'Phim. Another 'Phim. The thought seemed to echo through her mind as she stared at her savior. Zuri had searched for others of their kind before, always coming up empty handed. And now when she least expected it, she had been dragged out of a ragging storm to safety by one.
"Thank you for bringing me to shelter." Zuri said with a slight bow of her head. She thought of what might have happened to her had the other phim left her out in the cold but quickly pushed the thoughts away. "I am indeed feeling better. Well better than before, anyway."
The sound of plants and food sounded wonderful to Zuri but with a quick glance out of the caves entrance she could tell that it would be quiet awhile before they would be able to leave the cave. But at least they had company.
"I am very happy to meet you Adira, though I do with the circumstances were different." She let out a light chuckle that reminded her just how battered her body was. "My name is Zuri."

At the other's silence, Adira's ears began to droop back a bit as she hoped she hadn't scared the other. She knew she looked a little odd at first; her colors were bright and her hair was not exactly normal either. And she definitely didn't much look as elegant as this other Phim. Adira hadn't met any of her own kind before, and if most Phims looked like this one, she couldn't fault the other for being hesitant.
Once she talked, however, Adira relaxed all over again at how polite Zuri was. "Oh, don't mention it, I certainly wasn't going to leave you out there." She said with a look out to the storm that said more than words could. "I'm glad you're feeling better, Zuri. Why were you out in that horrible storm anyway?"

It was nice to know there was still some good left in the world. Zuri's previous travels had been hard and a few times, she had not been shown much kindness. But Adira seemed so selfless about saving her from the storm and helping her get better.
"To be honest," Zuri started, looking at Adira and smiling. "I was out looking for other 'Phims. I hadn't meant to get caught in the storm, but it came up so suddenly." She frowned and laid her head down on her paws. "I didn't have enough time to find a shelter before I was trapped in the full wrath of the storm." A small chill ran up her spine making her shiver for a few moments. Zuri curled herself into a smaller ball against Adira's side, thankful for the warmth the other 'Phim provided.
"How long had you been in this cave before you came upon me?"

"Other Phims? You mean you've never met any either?" Adira asked in surprise. Were her species so rare then? Adira had simply thought she was merely looking in the wrong places, but here was this Phim, the first she'd seen besides herself, and she didn't seem to have met many either.
Zuri shivered a little and Adira quickly curled around her a little tighter. "The storm did come on quick. I got caught in it myself, but I live in this forest. I figured I could hunker down somewhere and wait for the storm to blow over." Adira explained. "I was lucky to have found this cave and luckier that it wasn't being used as a den already. I hadn't been in here for more than an hour when you landed."

"Well... I sort of met another 'Phim once." Zuri stated thinking back on the experiance. "It was more of we saw each other than really sat down and met." She remembered the color of the other 'Phim's coat and wings but nothing more. There had been so little time to take everything in before the tsunami had reached the shore and once it was all over, the other 'Phim had seemed to vanish. The darker colored 'Phim pushed the thoughts aside to concentrate on the 'Phim who was here with her now instead of the one in the past.
"That is pretty lucky." Zuri said with a small laugh. "For both of us." Her mind was slowly starting to clear which made it easier for her to concentrate on the conversation with Adira instead of the haze in her head. Many parts of her body still ached but as long as she didn't move to much, she knew she'd be fine.
"So have you lived in this forest your whole life?" Zuri asked, eager for more conversation.

"Really? I haven't met any. Well, other than you, of course." Adira replied. She had met plenty of regular foxes, however, and most of them weren't so nice. At least, not the ones she'd met. "I wouldn't mind looking some more for others of our kind." She said absently, knowing that was impossible until Zuri was better.
Adira nodded at Zuri's question. "Yep. Well, just outside of the forest. There's a cliff not too far to the north of here. I have my own cave there, it's much larger, warmer, and has soft grass growing in it to make a nice bed. There is also a small store of food, not that that helps here." Adira chuckled a little.
"After we get you better, you should come and see it." Adira offered.

"It seems our kind is rare in these parts." Zuri nodded at Adira's reply. She wasn't sure why but it seemed that not many 'Phims seemed to live in the surrounding forests. Either that, or she just wasn't very good at finding others, which could indeed be the problem. Adira lived on the outskirts of the forest and Zuri had failed to catch her scent or any trace of her before the storm caught her.
It would be rude to turn down Adira's offer since Zuri was indeed in her debt but it would also be rude to impose on her. Zuri silently debated and weighed her options in her mind before smiling kindly at Adira. "I would love to visit your home after I am well. Perhaps at that time, I will be on my way to being well enough to travel again, and I might be able to interest you in joining me on my search?" Adira had said she wanted to search of others and Zuri rather liked the idea of company; traveling alone had gotten rather boring, dull, and well, lonely. Allowing Adira the chance to travel with company was the only thing Zuri really had to offer the other 'Phim in return for her kindness.
