New 4.0.1 patch,

The problem I get with this patch is weird, nobody else seems to have it (I've been checking on Google for forum entries and suchlike).
WOW.exe will start out in Windows Task Manager taking up approximately 330,000k under the Memory column (more than triple what anything else uses, just to start with). As soon as I start trying to move around in the game, the usage starts to increase - not rapidly, but steadily, until I am so lagged out I can't move, and everything freezes. Switching to Task Manager at that point, I see the memory usage has increased to the 1 mil range and keeps going until I shut down WOW with the task manager.
What confuses me about all this is that I run the graphics at absolute minimum, not the "recommended" level, and I don't use add-ons anymore. I never keep other programs running in the background (no music player, messenger, etc; just my anti-virus software).
I've tried shutting down several Windows processes to see if that affects it, TrkWks and Windows Defender being cut off seems to help slightly in that it takes longer for the eventual freeze to occur, but it still does.
I intended to make a post about this on the support forums, but it keeps telling me that everything is still down for maintenance? IDK. It makes me sad though, until this started happening I was having so much fun with WOW.
