Cool light filtered through the windows, bathing the hallway in the colors of a dying star. It was late - past business hours - and of the day shift, most had migrated to the cafeteria, the lounge or their quarters. Only the dedicated or the deadlined remained, the former group including Seth - though what he was dedicated to was another question entirely. He was busy that day, but he could meet her after normal work hours, in one of the upstairs offices for the privacy of discussion. It hadn't been phrased so smoothly, but that was the gist of it.

You'd have to be an idiot or an innocent to not suspect, and Nadja.. had stopped being either a long time ago. And she'd agreed to it - one way or another, it would serve her purposes.

She paused outside his office and knocked.

The hours had flown by and while Seth hadn't forgotten about their rendezvous, he was still engrossed in his work. Leaning back in his chair, the elite casually reviewed several lines of code that Hayes had submitted for approval.

However, blue eyes quickly lifted from his screen as he heard the knock upon his door. The corner of his mouth tugged upward slightly in a smirk. He knew who was on the other side. He had been waiting for her after all.

The various windows he had open were minimized as he issued an invitation for her to enter. "Come in."

Nadja smirked herself and pushed the door open.

The room followed the same floor plan that hers did, with a generous view of the cooling desert from the windows on the far wall. Nadja knew the value of an office as a private space, and such spaces carried traces of their owners. The redhead paused and pushed the door to behind her, her grey eyes narrowed a fraction as she studied the walls. Clean, which was to be expected, and sparse, but here and there possible traces of personality - the books on the shelves, some of whose titles she caught, and the thick, grid-topped table that seemed more like a museum piece than a playable Go board.

There were also the chairs - or rather, there weren't the chairs.

Nadja's inspection was a seemingly brief thing, a cursory once-over of a new environment before she turned her attention on the man at the desk in the form of a knowing smile.

"Your visitors have a notable lack of places to sit."

When Nadja entered, Seth's attention was immediately focused on her. He watched as she inspected the space, but then inclined his head to look over the desk to where chair usually sat. He grunted in annoyance. "I'm sure you can make do."

He'd had a meeting with a couple grunts earlier, and gave them a lack of places to sit and feel comfortable. Needless to say there was a lot of yelling involved, and during his focused coding, he had neglected to replace the chairs again. Although he could pretend that it was completely on purpose.

"What was it you wanted to discuss?" A hint of curiosity in his inquisitive voice.

"H'm." It was one of those low, murmury sounds that could be a sound of contempt, acknowledgment or amusement, and only subtle inflection indicated which was which - and the same for the little smirk that crossed her lips as she crossed the floor and laid a gloved hand on Seth's desk.

"A potential traitor."

She didn't sit, but leaned, enough that the curve of her hip came slightly over the polished edge and supported her weight.

This was 'making do.'

Seth glanced down at the hip that leaned against his desk for a moment, before his gaze slowly traveled back up to Nadja's face.

A brow was lifted at the mention of a traitor.

"Interesting. Tell me more."

It wasn't often that the topic of potential traitors arose. And if it was indeed a problem, it was something that should be brought to the Boss's attention. Especially when considering the mole, as Lucere had made so plainly clear to Seth.

Seth would find the redhead's eyes there to meet his when he got there by way of the scenic route. Well. Now that I have your attention, her single arched eyebrow said. Or fuller attention, as it were.

"You remember that bookish grunt in my class - the one afraid of her own Charizard?" The description wouldn't do it, but mentioning that spectacular screaming exit might. Nadja waited a beat, then continued. "She's here to take her brother home - and told one of my agents as much, bless her innocence."

Seth leaned forward in his chair, resting his elbows on the desk surface as his fingertips came in contact with each other thoughtfully. Yes she had his attention.

Blue eyes narrowed slightly as he took in Nadja's words. "Unfortunately," was his curt reply. He indeed remember that ridiculous display of cowardice and stupidity as the pigtailed girl had run past him.

"More like stupidity and ignorance in my opinion," Seth spat in disgust. The girl seemed to be rather harmless, just caught in the wrong crowd for the wrong reasons. Something she would surely regret.

Nadja smirked. "They often go hand in hand."

"I doubt she'll turn into anything as disastrous as the mole, but protocol is protocol and people are.. people." The elite's grey eyes flicked toward the bookshelves, then back again. "A friend of her brother's facilitated her induction."

It had been an odd name, and oddly fitting if you considered Lennyka's goal. "'Vamoose,'" the redhead added after a moment, with quotations dropped around the unfamiliar word.

Seth listen carefully and scowled at the mention of Lennyka's friend that allowed her entrance into Team Rocket. That was certainly an interesting bit of information.

"Indeed, the girl seems harmless, but..." The idea that Lennyka was a Mightyena in Mareep's clothing certainly was not impossible. But this Vamoose character was very suspicious.

"Is there any possibility that this "friend" of hers could be the mole?"

Harmless - but. The grey of Nadja's gaze darkened as she narrowed her eyes a fraction - a gesture that, coupled with a very slight tilt of her head, was left open to interpretation.

"The codename is valid - and stationed in Kanto." Nadja would leave the deep investigation and surveillance to the tech department, which had the tools and a lesser tendency to swear at their computers, but she could run a database search. "But you have more experience with the mole's doings - you tell me."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 18, 2010 8:52 pm

Seth hummed lightly as he considered her words.

"If he's stationed in Kanto, its unlikely. The only evidence of mole activity has been in this region. That is unless the mole is extremely versatile and has means to operate long distances." A highly unlikely probability, but not an impossible one.

Several things were highly unlikely but not impossible. For example, every atom in Seth's desk might spontaneously shift three inches to the right. And in some universe it did, startling them both, but in yet another universe the unresolved sexual tension that had stirred was promptly squashed by something chewing lovingly on Seth's boot which was all right because a sudden rain of flaming Zubats outside the window had drawn Nadja's attention anyway.

You can say a lot about what happens in other universes. In another universe, this was a more serious post.

"Then assume, unless evidence otherwise, that the mole is a mortal man, woman or possibly other," the redhead replied. "But there could be a network. I've heard of no such spectacularly failed raids as those here, but lack of success doesn't mean absence of effort on a saboteur's part."

"Alternatively," and the corner of Nadja's mouth drew back in something approximating a half-smile, but the approximation was rough, "She was never meant to tell, and this is a case of an operative having second thoughts. It does happen."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 19, 2010 6:18 am

Seth would prefer the other universe where the sexual tension had been resolved... favorably.

Instead, the elite nodded his agreement before turning to his computer and punching up the data on this particular girl in question.

"Yes. And we should monitor her closely for any indication that she intends to follow through with her second thoughts."

Mole suspicions should be sent to the Boss, Lucere had made that clear, but suspected traitors were something that elites handled on a semi regular basis.

"You," Nadja emended, "and your staff. I've seen her perhaps a handful of times - she works in Filing, I believe - and my department is geared toward empirical observation, not surveillance." She was busy, and one of the things a busy person quickly learns is not to go too far outside one's job description, lest the job description follow.

She straightened up and rested a hand lightly on her hip. "If I hear anything I'll pass it on to you. You'll be looking into the brother and the friend as well?"
