 Amaidi sighed and felt like banging her head into the nearest tree. She had been looking for ages for Mercury's adopted mother and she was just about to give up and if some chance they ever ran into her by accident then tell her, but she knew how much this mother figure meant to Mercury and so she trudged on.
However she did want to point out how ridiculous this was getting, Amaidi knew she liked the idea of traveling all over the place and was thinking about joining the tribe that seemed to specialize in this. She was glad they where doing it now instead of waiting until Amaidi had kits or something. Of course then she would have the excuse to maim the poor tree. With a sigh she shook her head and looked over at her mate wondering how he was doing and then shook her head again.
She was supposed to be up beat and bubbly non of this darker side that tended to pop up. After all she wanted to make a good impression.

 Suffice to say, Mercury was fairing far better than his mate. He loved just wandering around, having done it a lot in his old days when he was a kit following Runaiu around. He looked back at his mate.
For the most part Amaidi seemed to be doing well on the journey, which was good. He did his best to entertain and amuse her whenever she had her exasperated moments. He was guessing now was one of those moments.
"Don't be discourage, Love," he said, going over to gently nuzzle his mate. "I'm almost positive we'll find her this time! This used to be one of our usual living areas where we came around this part of the forest. And I can smell Momma's scent, so she had to have visited recently!"
Aside from trying to cheer his mate up, he really did smell Runaiu's scent. His tail wagged excitedly behind him. It would be nice if they had finally found her.

 "Rassle frassle stone." A low hiss cut through the silence as a grey/blue vixen rose from the ground, brushing herself off with a huff. She had tripped, ending with her scraping her knee and startling the female out of her thoughts. She was not one to be a deep thinker, but she had been enjoying flipping through the memories of the old days.
The days when she had a certain rainbow marked kit following her around and calling her "Momma". She doubted she ever would have kits one day, no one would love such a plain and ugly fox such as herself, but Mercury had filled the hole she would have felt had she not offered to raise him. She may never have kits, but Mercury was her son in her mind. He loved her like a mother, and despite how much she had tried to fight it she ended up loving him as a son.
Now he was an adult and had moved on. She was a traveler though and did not follow him, continuing her journey. She had found a tribe to join eventually, in the city. She liked the city, but she was not accepted just yet.
What was she doing here? Visiting. She had been with Mercury here before he didn't need her anymore. She missed those days... but she was grateful of them. He had given her something she would never had before.

"I'm not getting discouraged" Amaidi slightly lied. "I'm just getting a little frustrated, then again I shouldn't because the more time it takes to find your mom the more time we have until we have to go tell my dad" Amaidi stated shaking her head. She already could just see how disastrous that had become.
"ah really well thats good. Its getting rather hot of course..." amaidi trailed off and refused to let that traitorous thought go any further. Slightly more subdued she continued walking behind mercury letting him lead the way.

Mercury tilted his head. He wasn't too sure what Amaidi meant by it being hot. Was she tired? About to suggest they take a break he suddenly froze, muscles locking except for his large ears which swizzled towards a part of the forest, listening intently. He could have sworn he heard a voice.
"Momma," Mercury called out, as loud as his lungs were able. A million doubts plagued his mind. What if it wasn't Runaiu? What if it was some hostile creature and he'd given away there location.
Or, worse, what if it was Runaiu but she didn't recognize his voice!? She might think there was danger and run off, and they would have been so close to finally finding her! Mercury bit his lip, worrying and still locked in place.

Runaiu's ears twitched as she heard a voice rush out into the air, her head raising and eyes widening. Had she heard correctly or was it the cry of a bird she was mistaking for saying: "Momma." Was she delusional? The vixen didn't think it would come to this, hearing things here and there, though maybe she had been delusional for a long time. No one in her family had seen Mercury, just her, maybe he was a figment of her imagination?
No, she was sure she had heard his voice!
The vixen shook her thoughts aside as she padded closer to the trees where she had heard the voice, emerging in an area she would not have gone if she had not heard a voice. Runaiu rarely ran from danger, maybe this was why she had so many scars.
Her eyes flicked upon a dark fox and another familiar one, green eyes immediately leaving the dark foxes figure in favor for the other who happened to be none other than her adopted son, Mercury.
"Mercury? What are you doing here?" She questioned, hiding the complete joy she felt with ease, but her tail betrayed her, twitching into a wag.

"Momma," Mercury cried out, wiggling with glee as he bounded up to the blue-gray fox. For a moment he was just a kit again, thoroughly overexcitied and caught up in the joy of a new discovery.
He did remember he wasn't a size of a kit anymore though, so rather than pounce on her paws or tail like he did when he was little, Mercury buried his face against Runaiu's neck and nuzzled her. When had he gotten taller than her? When he had last seen her they had been about the same height.
He pulled back and looked Runiau over. She looked as marvelous as ever, though he could tell she had fallen back into her habits of worrying over things. "We've been lookin' all over for ya Momma. You're a hard fox to find." He chuckled.

Amaidi smiled glad that they had finally found the vixen and watched as her mate bounded over to her obviously holding back the urge to pounce her. She chuckled a bit a shook her head. Mercury would always be Mercury. As she didnt want to but in since it had been a very long time since mercury had seen his mother she mostly just waited in the background and figured mercury would finally get around to introducing her when he was ready. Besides she always liked to look at different scenery.

Runaiu frowned when she realized Mercury was taller, however it was replaced with a grin of pure joy as she felt his nuzzle. The female tilted her head as he stepped back. Her eyes flipped to scan the vixen behind Mercury, holding the insecurities inside her and biting her tongue. Of course, another beautiful vixen.
So, was he traveling with someone else? Runaiu smiled at Mercury, tail twitching very gently and laid over her paws. "It's been so long, you rainbow fluffball. What have you been doing?"

Mercury wagged his tail and plopped down on the ground. "Not terribly much when I first wandered off. Going here and there, wherever my feet took me. How about you?"
As he talked Mercury beckoned with a paw for Amaidi to come over. He had high hopes that the two vixens could get along.

Amaidi looked down from looking at the scenery and walked forward as she noticed Mercury motioning for her. She figured he was getting to the part of introducing her. Once again her doubts on whether or not she would get along with mercury's mother ran through her head before she crushed them. Mercury said it would be fine but then this was coming from the poor fox that needed rescuing all the time and was constantly getting them lost. 'well It wont hurt to try.' she thought.

Runaiu shrugged in response. "I went to a family reunion. My brother had kits and everyone has a mate save Sin. Myself? I've been traveling as well, I might join a tribe in the city." She glanced over as the vixen joined them, cocking her head to the side. Who was she? A friend? She felt ugly compared to her, but she held it in once again. Besides, she needed to drop this persona of being cold and offish that she had created to protect herself.
"So, who is your friend?" The vixen questioned. Sheesh, she felt so old compared to these pretty youngings. Luckily, she wasn't to old. Not yet at least.

"Ah, yes." Mercury stood and paced so that he was half behind Amaidi, clearly presenting her. "Momma, I want you to meet Amaidi. She's my mate." He still swelled with pride everytime he said that. He was so lucky to have such good-looking, kind vixens in the family!

"Nice to meet you" Amaidi said politely. "I'm amaidi" she said nodding even though Mercury had just said her name in his earlier statement it never hurt to be polite. Having been finally introduced amaidi silently waited for the reaction.

Runaiu did a double take, looking between the two in shock. Mates? Her son was mated? Something inside clenched. Her son was mated... and she had no one. The female huffed, shaking this thought aside. No, she had to focus on Mercury and... and this new vixen. Her green eyes narrowed at the other, not hostile but more analyzing. Already over-protective thoughts ran over her mind.
Was this vixen good enough for her? Would she make him happy? Anyway, who the hell was she?! So, she was the girl who would steal her baby away from her?
Oh.... this would be fun.
"Greetings, Amaidi. I am Runaiu, I found Mercury when he was a kit and adopted him. It's a pleasure to meet the woman who would kidnap my sons heart."
