Zia pursed her lips and let out a drawn out, quiet sigh as she sat on a bench in the park, Harley's leash in one hand and an overpriced latte in the other. One leg crossed over the other while the Sovereign Heights student basked in the minute return to her normal schedule, even accented by the fact the guardian cat that shared her body was being mercifully silent, even probably sleeping.
Zirconia didn't really like the massive mutt anyway, which probably had something to do with it.
It took her a minute, since she remembered her sporadic park trips from before being busier, to figure out what was wrong before realizing it was because Zee hadn't brought any work to do or forms to fill out. She was completely out of work to overload herself with at this moment, and could actually focus her attention on keeping Harley from loving on random, unwilling strangers or chasing squirrels rather than multi-task. A weird, boring feeling, but a welcome one nonetheless.

Istas was walking to the park. She'd taken the bus and happened to have a kite with her as well as her favorite stuffed rabbit. It wasn't often she got to go kite flying, but the weather seemed just about right to at least try.
As she walked she noticed a large dog, her eyes suddenly grew interested and she made her way over. "Hello" She said softly as she approached. "Can I pet him?"
Istas wasn't shy of large animals, in fact she loved all animals. Just some were more scary than normal sometimes, this one at least didn't look scary to Istas.

Zia heard the soft hello and looked up, but Harley was quicker. His floppy ears perked up and he suddenly jerked on the leash with spastic excitement, eager to run up and jump all over Istas.
Zee's latte was dropped, all down the front of her skirt, as she grabbed onto the leash with both hands and braced herself to try and keep that from happening. She didn't mind Harley jumping on herself, but he was a huge dog, standing at her own full height on his back legs, so the thought of all that dog pouncing on a little girl was worrisome to her.
"Down," She hissed, which at least got him to stop his attempt to pounce down to excited tail wagging.
"You can pet him, just be careful. He doesn't bite or anything, but he throws his weight around and... drools sometimes," She said with a relieved sigh, scratching the big lug behind the ears. She paused to look the elementary school student over and smiled, holding out her hand to shake like she would with anyone her own age. "Hi there! My name is Zee," She said in a chipper tone while the back of her legs were battered by Harley's rapidly moving tail.

Istas watched the dog as he began to try to pull away form his owner and then wide yellow eyes catching a glance of the latte spilling on the girls skirt.
Istas cringed slightly, "I'm sorry." She said softly when the dog was calmer sitting her kite down slightly away from him and standing in front of it "I didn't mean for you to drop your drink..."
The older girl didn't seem to mind. As she said that Istas could pet the large animal just to be careful. Istas nodded walking to where she could shake Zee's hand, "I'm Istas," She said with a smile, before letting the dog sniff her hand. She would wait till he was finished before rubbing him, her mother always said that was the best way to treat an animal.

"It's fine," Zee said with a slight sight to her voice, using the hand that wasn't tangled up in the leash to pull a napkin out of her jacket pocket and dab at the coffee mess all over her skirt. "It's not your fault, he just does that sometimes." More like every time. But Harely did no wrong in Zee's eyes so he was always forgiven and she would never learn not to do silly things like try to write or hold coffee while trotting around with a dog that could drag her anywhere he wanted.
Harley leaned forward to sniff at Istas' palm before burying his head into it, eager to get on with the petting. He was incredibly friendly dog, just an inconvenient size.
"Istas is a pretty name," Zee commented and glanced around. "Oh, are you hanging out here all by yourself?"

Istas smiled softly, "He's a silly puppy." She chuckled when Harley buried his head into her hand. Istas took up scratching behind his ears.
"Hmm..." She paused to look around, "Pretty much... I don't have many friends from my class yet. It seems like they like to split everyone up and put all new people in my classes."
She shrugged, "And Mama's out shopping. She trusts me enough to go to the park alone at least." Istas smiled softly as she was rubbing Harley.

"He's just a dork," Zia said with a slight roll of the eyes and looked back down at her latte soaked skirt with a sigh. Her school uniform was still neatly folded in her bag since she'd only been home to grab the dog and was off again before unpacking it, so at least she had a change of clothes.
"Hey, Istas, could you do me a huge favor?" She asked, trying to hide the fact she felt a little awkward about what she was about to ask. "The bathrooms are right over there. If I run over there to change really quick could you make sure he doesn't chase after anyone?"
Istas was just a little kid, so part of her felt a little nervous about leaving her with an animal she'd just met who was more than capable of physically forcing himself anywhere he wanted with or without her interjection. But it was only for a few minutes, and she was hoping nothing could go too wrong in just a few minutes.
"If you play with him it'll probably keep him distracted enough to behave," She said, producing a tennis ball from her bag and offering it to the younger girl tentatively.

Istas giggled at the fact the doggy was a dork. "Aww I'm sure he's not that bad!" She said rubbing him.
She paused when she was asked to do the older girl a huge favor. Butter yellow eyes focused on the girl and then nodded, "I'll watch him!" She grinned as she took the tennis ball.
"Do you know how to play fetch?" She asked him curiously as she looked for what seemed to be a decent place to play. She couldn't throw far and surely he wouldn't run off he was well enough behaved.

The minute Istas agreed Zia had made a dash for the bathrooms, hoping no one would spot her as a mess and then she managed to cringe her way through the unsanitary changing environment of a public bathroom.
Harley was more than content to stay with someone to play with. His tail started moving a mile a minute with destructive force on the grass he was sitting on the second he saw the ball. He was sitting up straight, nearly spazzing in anticipation of whether or not she'd throw it so he could chase it down.
Zia was having trouble not touching anything, and the fact that Zirconia was watching and channeling even more squeamish thoughts was not helping. But eventually, after several minutes of squealing and whining to both herself and to the other entity in her head, she did manage to maneuver into her Sovereign Heights uniform and fold up her messy clothes in her bag.
Walking as fast as she could in her heels, she exited the park restroom and looked around for Istas, hoping she hadn't had a problem with any of Harley's willful moments. Thankfully he had seemed to be more interested in playing with the little girl than chasing pigeons or joggers, though. And she was thankful for that, since the company and lack of disasters was an awesome combination.
"Thank you!" She said as she ran up with more enthusiasm then she'd ever thought she'd be thanking an elementary student. Then with perfect timing, she glanced around the park area, and saw the perfect opportunity to pay Istas back.
"Hey! Wanna get an ice cream?" She asked, pointing to an ice cream cart not too far off.

Istas had thrown the ball while waiting for Zia to come back. She patted her legs waiting for Harley to come back with the ball. When Zia came back she smiled with a grin.
"That was quick!" She said with a smile, she paused, offer for ice cream. "Ohhh!" She paused, did she have money for ice cream with her?
She gave a soft frown, "I don't think I have ice cream money though." She didn't normally carry money unless she knew she was going to get something while she was out. She didn't want to give some mean person a reason to steal it.

"Oh! No, I'm buying," Zia cleared up with a nod. "You know, since you helped me out by watching him. Come on," She urged, though that made Harley run up close and since Zirconia was no longer dormant, she almost choked on a forced hiss at his presence. The guardian cat had detested her host's pet since she was prancing around in feline form and he'd tried to pounce on her.
Getting up to the vendor Zee dug around for her wallet while looking at the choices, indicating she wanted two ice creams and asked for a chocolate cone herself. "Seriously, pick what you want. My treat," She assured her with a smile. For such an age gap she found Istas to be incredibly pleasant (and mellow) company and an ice cream was the least she could give.

Istas looked at Zia with a smile, "really?" She said. It wasn't often older kids that weren't her babysitter offered to buy her ice cream. She giggled at Harley and rubbed him, "Good doggy!"
She paused at the choked hiss with a tilt of the head, "Are you okay?"
It didn't take long before she was following Zee up to the vendor. After the older of the two asked for two cones Istas was looking at the flavors, "Can I have a Vanilla?" She asked with a smile, it felt like a vanilla ice cream day to her.
After she got the ice cream and her and Zia chatted a little more it seemed to be getting about the time that Istas needed to be home, she gave Harley a hug and scratched behind the dog's ears. "I'm Sorry I have to go mommy'll start to wonder where I am if I'm out much later. Thank you for the ice cream and nice meeting you Miss Zia and Harely." She said quickly before making sure she had everything and before running off she called, "I hope to see you again!"
