The familiar scent of the black and white femme tickled his nose, guiding him as he traveled once again through this stretch of forest. A few months had passed, and he was no longer an awkward adolescent.
Now he was just a somewhat awkward adult.
He had grown even more, gaining more height, but remaining lean like his grandmother Dione. As a result, Phrixos could run for days without tiring, and had.
The black and green wolf had run north, but in the end, he realized it wasn't the right way. His wanderlust was not eased by the cold northern climes. Instead, he had started developing headaches. They were usually small and only mildly irritating, but now they came more frequently.
As a result, he'd turned back, and returned to this forest, this lake....
And Adriana was here.

Having discovered it earlier in the year, Adriana returned to the lake for the abundant prey; not only the fish but the waterfowl and mammals that also appeared for the water's resources. The lake changed with the seasons, as did she; memories faded and were replaced by new ones; her fur grew thick, as it did in winter; and her newfound abilities grew outward, slowly, as she resisted them less and less. She still did not know for what purpose she could sense the dead, or why the ability fell to her, but she was no longer afraid when she felt them near.
This trip was one like any other, and she had expected nothing significant from it. She was surprised to see Phrixos here, but no more surprised than she would have been to see any other wolf -- it was unclaimed land, and ripe for use by unclaimed wolves.
"Well hello," she said, as he approached the lake. She lay on the shore, wet sand matting her belly fur, the head- and tail-ends of a fish between her paws, connected only by the strong spinal cord, flesh eaten away. "Did you want another swimming lesson?"
