She'd managed to do it again; somehow she'd gotten turned around in the campus and now she wasn't at all sure which way the Demon dorms were. Arachne pushed her hood back with an annoyed sound, looking around to see if she could find her bearings from where she currently stood. Gah..she sank down on the small stone wall behind her, pulling out the small red bag that she carried her divination tools in; cards, runes and bones. Maybe she could get even a vague hint from them, but she would be surprised if it worked as the last few days she'd managed to see nothing.
She closed her eyes, inhaled what was meant to be a calming and centering breath and threw the bones up into the air so that would land on the ground at her feet. She looked down at the pattern in which they fell and shook her head.
'Well apparently my dorm room lies in many different directions..' she grumbled, as she went to bend down and scoop the unhelpful bones back up. Sometimes, just sometimes mind, she would admit her Grandmother had been right about how her lack of practice would affect her ability.

Carrying a large potted plant meant that Belladonna had a slow go back from the gazebo where the Garden Club would soon meet. Setting up everything for it was taking more time than originally anticipated, but it was something fun to do before classes started and the work wasn't hard in any event. Well, except for this. At first Belladonna had thought it was another Siren Vine, but when it developed a small stalk and strange leaves, she was completely unsure and was not transporting it back to her room to do further research.
That was until she heard the sound of bones hitting the Earth. And not just any bones... Divination bones. She knew that sound like she knew her mother's voice, simply because her sister Hemlock was overtly fond of them. In fact it was the ONLY divination Hemlock had ever used and though she had used them everyday back home, she wasn't very good at them. Belladonna used to sit in Hemlock's room, watching as she would toss the bones again and again, always asking them some mundane question like "Does Billy the Ghoul like me?" or "Did Belladonna steal my striped sweater?" (Yes, she had. But she never told Hemlock.) So now that the young witch heard them again, her steps automatically altered themselves until she was standing, staring at a very thin girl with very pretty hair.
"Did they work?" Belladonna asked, wanting to indicate the bones but being a bit occupied with a rather large plant.

'A talking plant..' Arachne murmured, having paused in the act of picking up the last of her bones. She tapped a slender finger against one that she was holding and looked at the ghoul..well, what she could see of her around the potted plant. Right away she knew she wasn't undead..and so she would speak with her further if she put the plant down.
'Only to decorate the floor with.' she replied in a faintly frustrated tone.
'As a guide, in no way helpful. I must just be a little unfocused.' she said carefully, not wanting to just outright say she was mostly bad at divination because she thought practicing a waste of time.

"Decorate the floor? How witty! Well, they can sometimes--" Here Belladonna forced herself to stop so she could set the large plant down. Attempting to talk through a leafy green thing would win her no friends and instead make her look like a crazy person! That was always a Bad Thing and should be stopped as soon as possible since she did it too often.
With the plant now safely on the floor, she took a moment to quickly wipe off what little dirt had spilled onto her skirt before smiling at the girl. "Sometimes they can be misleading, but its usually to help you find your own way! What were you asking them?"
"Oh! Hi! I'm Belladonna Divine, by the way." Here she stuck out a clean hand for the girl to shake, rather liking her hair color. Red heads gotta stick together and all that!

'Well it lacks decoration out here.' Arachne replied in an offhand manner as she pushed the last of the divining bones back into the bag. She watched as the ghoul put the plant down, getting her first proper look of her and allowed a small smile to slip forth; a magic practitioner, some kind of witch she presumed.
'The way back to my dorm if you can believe that. I was hoping that they might decide to play nice and tap into my wish to get there but apparently not.' she looked at the proferred hand for a moment before extending one of her own gloved ones and giving it a short shake.
'Arachne Tangleweave. So, now that we are introduced, where are you going with the plant?'

The witch was about to mention something she felt appropriate about floor decorations, but quickly realized that the girl was making a joke. And a rather unhappy one at that. So the witch only closed her mouth into a smile and put a hand out to feel the strange leaves of the plant. "Which dorms do you live in? Reaper or Demon?" Hopefully she was one of those races... "I'm horrible with guessing what people are. I just see everyone as... People! Sorry if I've offended you with guessing your incorrect race. I don't mean offense..." It was best to make up for any sort of mistake with adorable apologies and a nice smile.
"Tangleweave? What a lovely last name..." It sounded so quaint! "And I'm taking it back to my dorm! I'm not sure what it is, but I'll just look it up on the interwebs." For a moment she paused, thinking it over. "Would divination bones really help you how to get back to your dorm?" She didn't really know much about how divination bones worked, so maybe now was a good time to learn! Her Tarot cards would never have helped her get back to her dorm if she had been lost, so maybe she needed to take divination bones up?

Arachne shook her head. 'No, not at all. I might have been insulted if you thought I was something else, but I am a demon, and I have always got on well with Reapers. Which I am presuming you are?' she asked
Arachne supposed that it might not be immediately clear that she was a demon, she did look relatively normal after all. Except for when the ends of her legs and dress coalesced into webbing but she mostly went around with regular feet so really there was nothing that stood out as 'demonic'.
'Thank you. It's my family..name.' It really wasn't exactly but she was a demon and so her family had simply picked one to use.
'Well, sometimes, they can give directional advice if you are focused enough but clearly I'm not. So if you know the way?' the question left hanging would surely make her seem foolish but she was fed up of being out here and so she would take a little embarrassment over sleeping outside.

Belladonna let out an almost imperceptible sigh of gratitude that she had properly guessed Arachne's race as well as somehow manage to avoid offending her. Strange she would have taken offense, but it just showed she was the kind of demon who was very proud in her heritage, a note Belladonna made to herself to remember in the future. "Yup! I'm a Reaper! Witch to be exact." The girl replied, saluting at the mention of being a reaper and pointing exaggeratedly at her rather large hat. It was her crowning glory after all!
Family name? Hardly! Belladonna knew she was hesitating because all demons had a name that was their real name and one they used so no one could have any sort of power over them. Wasn't that just a funny little quirk they had? "I didn't know that! My sister Hemlock has a set, but she's not very good with them. She always asked them stupid questions anyways." A number of waving hand motions were inserted to accent her point before the witch smiled at the girl. "And of course I know the way! I have some friends in there, so I visit every so often." Here she bent over to wrap her hands around the plant before pausing and looking back up at Arachne. "So long as you don't mind taking your time... This plant is kind of heavy, but I really can't just leave it sitting here!" Who knew what kind of awful creature would come and make a meal out of it?! "Follow me!" The witch announced before hefting the plant up and waddling forward in the general direction of the demon dorms.

'Of course.' Arachne murmured, her eyes going to the overly large witches hat. She had noticed it, and yes that would scream witch, but who was to say the ghoul didn't just like large hats?
'Does your sister have foretelling abilities then?' she asked, mildly curious. Her sister could also just be a dabbler, she knew that others made use of tarot cards and pretended to read but unless you had a proper gift than you wouldn't get far.
'Uh, sure, at least I won't lose you.' It was hard to lose sight of a walking plant after all. She followed Belladonna, and watched the leaves swaying as the witch walked.
