Was it ever explained on the show? I'm guessing it was probably done as a reference to Mini-me, but even when Verne Troyer was on the show, Hornswaggle still couldn't talk, and nobody ever commented on it.
I understand that hornswaggle's actor can probably talk, but kayfabe-wis, why can't the character?

Cause he has no season to. His original gimmick was being "the little b*****d" until he complained about being called that and they switched it to a leprechaun which in the world of wrestling really has no place to be spewing out dialogue.

Insanity and Mayhem Didn't he talk like once back then when he was with Finlay? He said "Thank you" or something all serious like. I think he's had a couple short one word moments, but nothing major.

Archon of Aegis Insanity and Mayhem Didn't he talk like once back then when he was with Finlay? He said "Thank you" or something all serious like. I think he's had a couple short one word moments, but nothing major. one word or one phrase..it's more like he has trouble speaking words, and I think also has a stubbornness not to...or maybe english is his second language.. cuz all teddy's efforts he goes against. I find it kinda funny, hornswoggle might lose his charm if he talks too much. he's still damn funny though.

The audience doesn't want to hear him talk. They just want to see the little b*****d run around and be funny. Once he's on the microphone he becomes a midget wrestler attempting to be taken seriously and that's when they start booing.
