It was night in the city that Vela's crew was docked near and Vela was at a tavern. She was doing reconnaissance as usual, the crew was making their raid tomorrow night and then they'd set sail again. It was somewhat demeaning for pirates to have to steal into houses like thieves to take what they wanted, but Vela's crew was small, and they couldn't afford trouble. Some of the larger crews on the sea could fight through the city guards for a getaway, but Vela wasn't willing to risk it. This tavern trawl was extra insurance that they wouldn't have to, trying to pick up any other illegal activities or interference that might happen tomorrow. Vela was nothing if not thorough, and while she was sitting down with a drink beside her, she wasn't taking a single sip from it. Vayn was on her shoulder as usual, keeping an eye out for trouble like he always did. Vela might be comfortable in a seedy tavern, but her esper was worried as ever about these kinds of situations.
Currently, the pirate was engaged in conversation with a heavyset bearded man, but she soon broke off, apparently having been unable to glean anything useful from their conversation. She looked around the room before her eyes settled on another man in her close vicinity.
"Hello there, stranger!" she said, leaning towards him. "Can I buy you a drink?"
"You're supposed to talk to them, not act like some cheap floozy," Vayn whispered in her ear. Vela shot him a look, she was trying, but it had been a long night!

The night was still fairly young as far as Blade was concerned, though for now he didn't really have many illicit activities in mind. He was doing well in terms of funding, so he had no real need to be out stealing. That wouldn't stop him if he found something that struck his interest, whether it be a challenge of sorts or an amusing artifact. Perhaps it'd be both.
Neither have presented themselves to him, so he was just relaxing in the tavern while trying to think on how he might be able to dig up some information on Volare. So far there hadn't been a great deal of luck for this case. During the day, his esper often flew over head a few times to try and see if he might be able to spot anyone that fit the description by some off chance. There was one person, but it turned out to be someone completely different.
For now, the Maonui was content to be waiting outside. While he was able to control his flames to not be so hazardous to flammable objects near him, building interiors rarely really had the room for a creature as big as he was. He didn't mind so much anyway, just as long as his pact maker was alright.
"Hm?"
Glancing up as he was addressed, Blade's dark red eyes soon fell onto the hylian girl that approached him. It had, at first, thrown him off guard as he wasn't really expecting such a friendly offer here. It made him a little wary, but not so much to just ignore her or anything like that.
"Uh sure, if you really want to," he replied with a pause, "Though might I get your name first?"

"Leileh," Vela offered, sticking out a hand. "And this is my Esper, Nue." Vayn flicked his tail at Blade lazily in recognition, and went back to eyeing the rest of the bar. "I'm new in town. And you are?" She waved at the bartender for a drink for Blade, asking "What's your fancy, then?" before she reached for her coin purse. She had some money on her, but not much- she didn't carry it around in places like this. However, she did have a few of her custom darts, their strange mechanisms made to whirl with the wind and pack a wallop, just in case she needed them. Vela wasn't strong, so it was rare that she went somewhere totally unarmed or without Vayn. The weapons she did carry, she invented herself, and they weren't so much valuable as they were unique.
"Now, since I'm new around these parts, I was just wondering if you could catch me up to speed about the goings on around here," she said amicably. "Nice man like you in a place like this, you must know some of the business that goes on around here?" Bright green eyes regarded him curiously from under her bangs.

"Blade. A pleasure to meet you," he replied while shaking her hand. For now he left out the fact that he too had an esper. Vol wasn't really around at the moment anyway.
"I'm not that new around here. I just arrived the other night but I've stopped through the town in the past. Oh and I'll just have a beer." Not being that much of a drinker, he was perfectly fine with something simple. When the girl asked of the happenings and such of the area, Blade had to take a moment to think of the answer. As friendly and nice as she seemed, there had to be some reason why she'd be in a relatively shady tavern... unless she was quite the oblivious type.
"I have some ideas. Though I guess it depends on which business you're talking about. I hear the grocers in town are having quite the sale in a few days," he added with a faint, but wry grin. It was a bit of a joke, but it was also just to make sure she wasn't in the wrong place.

"I'm afraid I have all the cucumbers I need," Vela replied silkily. "I was talking about other types of business. I'm kind of a night owl, so I don't have much use for sales." It couldn't get clearer than that, could it? She didn't like pussyfooting around a subject, but sometimes it was necessary.
"Blade," she repeated after a moment, brushing her hair out of her eyes. It didn't make a noise, the bells usually tied in it were out and her hair was down. Vela didn't want to be sporting her trademark look on business, but it was strange not to hear the comforting jingle. "Charmed. So if you just arrived too, are you here on business? Or is this a pleasure visit you're making?" Her fingers traced a pattern around the rim of her own glass but she still wasn't drinking from it. Now she had a name to go with the face, she tried to remember any gossip she might have heard attached to it. She had been collecting and exchanging gossip for about a week in this town, so there was a lot to sort through. Luckily, the name wasn't a very common one. "Have you been looking for someone?" she asked cautiously. That was all she had been able to glean, but it was rare that she had specific information about anyone- gossip was easy to come by, but usually vague and unreliable. Still, she was interested to know his story, and when Vela was curious about something, very little could stop her from trying to find out. Not even Vayn pawing her and whispering for her to stay on task worked, something he had just now started doing, having spotted the look in her eyes. Vela liked gossip too much, he just wanted to finish up and get out of this dangerous-looking pub!

Well that confirmed it for sure. As he received his drink, he nodded a thanks to the bartender but he didn't take a sip just yet. He looked towards 'Leileh' as she asked a few more questions. That last one of hers had caught his attention the most as he was now wondering if he was broadcasting his actions a little too much. That wasn't really something he wanted to be doing as there was no telling who might try to use that bit of info against him somehow.
"I'm mainly just passing through," he said casually, "And I might be searching for someone, yes. What's it to you?"
There was no hint of anger or anything of the like in his tone. He really did want to know why that was of interest to her, especially since they just met right here. If things were within his favor, she just knew of the missing person and was hoping to maybe trade some information. If he was not lucky... well then he'll see how this will play out.

"Oh, I just heard something on the wind," she replied quickly. "You know how news travels. If you are looking for someone, who is it? A sibling? Long lost love?" He looked like the kind of shady figure who could have some sort of tragic long lost love. "I get around a lot, see a lot of faces. Maybe if I knew who you may or may not be looking for, I might discover that I have some information to trade. Hypothetically speaking." She leaned over next to him at the bar, resting her cheek on her hand comfortably. Now that they were getting somewhere, she was getting more relaxed. Vayn, on the other hand, was alert as ever, and seemed a bit annoyed that Vela wasn't, though he was grudgingly placated by the fact that she was at least trying to stay on focus with her information hunting. Swishing his tail, he eyed Blade cautiously, wishing he would just tell them what they needed to know and get it over with.
"After all, I still want to know about the kind of non-cucumber related business going on around here," Vela elaborated with a theatrical sigh. "Wouldn't it be best if we were able to provide each other mutual assistance?"

It seemed fair enough to him, trading potential useful information for useful information. Taking a sip of his drink, he nodded slowly before going on to reply.
"The person I'm looking for isn't for myself actually. I'm helping someone find their lost twin as a sort of favor. A male hylian by the name of Volare," he said before pausing, "As for the business around here, I know a thing or two. If you know anything of the man I've mentioned I'd be glad to have a little exchange."
Of course, any tidbits he received could always be crafted, but he supposed any lead regardless of how true it was, was good. It would at least give him some sense of direction, and it could still potentially lead him to someone who did know about the guy.
