Character Customs

Runs October 11 through 15

Hello and welcome!

These Customs are for Adult Customs Only

This is a straightforward custom opportunity. Because the poll indicate a tie between Semi-Custom and Full-Custom there will be an option for interested patrons to choose a semi custom if they wish.

What is a Full Custom?
Full customs are customs where the player chooses everything about the dragon and the rider. It still needs to be approved in the normal way but everything is chosen and individualized by the player.

What is a Semi-Custom?
Players create a rider profile and submit that for dragon matching. They can choose either colour or personality but not both. The staff then fills in the blanks as needed.

Rules
  • No bronze or golds or whites. All other colours are acceptable, including Atypicals.
  • Should a Crimson win in this raffle, it can be a breeder if the player so chooses.
  • There are 8 slots, to be raffled.
  • One entry/character per person.
  • Profiles must be approved before play.
  • Use the character profiles located in the Character Application Subforum.
  • Be sure to indicate if you want a Full or Semi custom, and if Semi, specify what colour you want or the dragon's personality.

Semi-Custom Green

Character Name: S’koi (Sakukoi)
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Undecided (Likely heterosexual, but as of yet he has not expressed any preferences either way.)
Previous Craft/Rank: Apprentice Weaver
History: Sakukoi was born to what started out as a small weaver family in Ursul Hold. He was their second child, but was also their first son. As he grew, his parents had more children together, and he and his older sister looked helped to look after them as well as help with whatever other household chores were required. Sakukoi, being a very quite boy and not at all outgoing, never really had any friends outside of his own siblings. In fact, the neighborhood boys often referred to him as the weaver’s ‘second daughter’ due to his very effeminate looks and long black hair.

Once he grew old enough, the boy began learning the family trade from his parents in addition to helping out with his two little sisters and younger brother. It was a simple life, but a happy enough one for the boy. He found the art of weaving to be a rather beautiful one, and was glad to be able to partake in it.

It wasn’t till around age 11 that things began to go downhill. His beloved older sister, Kiraya, contracted a mysterious illness and quickly declined in health. The local healer was able to do nothing to help her, and a mere six months later she passed away, suffocating in the night. It was a time of grief for the whole family, but Sakukoi was especially devastated. He became even quieter than he had been before, and absorbed most all of his attention into his weaving.

Two Turns later a greenrider came by the Hold on Search, and Sakukoi was chosen as a potential Candidate. No one expected that the quiet, practically invisible weaver child would even want to consider being a dragonrider, but he defied everyone’s expectations when he politely accepted the greenrider’s invitation to return to Trine Weyr with him. One Turn later at the age of 14, he himself Impressed a green.

Description: If S’koi's appearance had to be described in one word, it would be ‘effeminate’. Bearing a small thin build of 5’4”, long straight black hair that reaches about the middle of his back, and brown Asianesque eyes with thick lashes, it is very difficult most times to tell that he is indeed male. Despite appearances, however, he is not frail or without strength and can actually hold his own quite well when he needs to. His skin is tanned to a medium brown, but if out of the sun long enough (which is nigh impossible at Trine), it actually has the capacity to become fairly fair. Not white glow-in-the-dark fair, but fair enough.

Personality: S’koi is very much a wallflower. He lacks any sort of presence that a bronze or brownrider might have, and, added to his quiet demeanor, his tendency not to say much at all, and his still very young age, he blends into the background very easily. Just because he goes unnoticed, however, doesn’t necessarily mean that the reverse is true. The greenrider spends much of the time that he’s blending into the background observing the actions and conversations of those around him. If one were to take the time to converse with him, they might be surprised at the small tidbits he has picked up on that, for any other, might provide excellent fuel for the rumormill. Luckily for everyone else, S’koi is not one prone to spreading gossip; information intake is his main preference instead.

When he does speak, the teen is soft-spoken and is always very polite. Polite to the point of distancing himself from others actually, and even here at the Weyr he has yet to make any real friends. Or at least any friends that he is willing to confide in anyway. No one really knows much about him other than that he came from a weaver family at some hold and has some siblings (One? Two? Brother? Sister? Older? Younger? Who knows. The conversation doesn’t generally get much farther than that). He has never had any relationships with people outside of his family before, and, other than with his life mate, even now he still struggles with the concept of real ‘friendship’ with others.

Character Name: M'cel (Marcel)
Age: 39
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: Weyrborn
History: Marcel was born to a weyrfolk woman and an unknown rider. He was raised in the creches and lived a fairly active, normal life in the weyr. He was known for being a sweet tempered but impulsive young man. He zipped around the Weyr, getting into trouble with his friends and always trying to sneak onto the hatching grounds to catch a peek at the eggs. Any trouble he got into was never serious, and he was allowed to stand at twelve.

At his third Impression, a fairly normal one by any standards, there was an unhatched egg. Once it was smashed, a lithe black dragonet fell out. The small dragon shook off the egg muck, turned it's whirling eyes towards the boys, and rocked Marcel's world forever.

As a Weyrling, both he and Tairoth were very rambunctious. Both were playful and loved to joke, never taking anything seriously. Once Tairoth was allowed to fly and go Between, they spent as much time out of the weyr doing errands as frequently as possible. After one such errand, M'cel was delying his return to the Weyr. While Tairoth lay sunning himself on a rock, M'cel went off exploring the area. It was his misfortune to come across a lone adolescent Cat. M'cel's screech alerted his dragon to the problem, but he wasn't able to make it to his rider in time to save him from injury. The creature had chased M'cel down as he ran, pouncing on him. The dragon savaged the creature, but M'cel was left with wounds to his shoulders and back. Fearing the worst, Tairoth grasped his rider in his forelegs and took them Between to a populated part of the weyr.

He feared the worst for his rider, but the healers tended to him well. M'cel praised him greatly for saving him and getting him to safety so quickly, though the Weyrfolk were likely annoyed with Tairoth's choice of landing spot. M'cel escaped from the encounter with injuries, yes, but they healed with time. He sustained the worst injury of all to his childish personality, which was forced to grow up after such a traumatic event. He calmed down enormously, though he still enjoyed funmaking, and became a more dedicated rider.

To this day, he serves Malvern as a more laid back rider. He will impart any knowlege that he knows to the younger generation and is a friendly, easy to get along with older rider.

Description: 'Average' would be the best way to describe M'cel. His height is average, his build is lithe and lean. His hair is an average medium brown, cropped short for comfort under his riding helm. The one odd thing about his appearance is his eyes, which seem to be as dark as his dragon's hide.

His form and face are both pleasing, he's started to develop some laugh lines and he keeps his face free from hair. His hair has yet to turn grey, and he worries about this quite a bit. He doesn't want to look old!

With age and healing, the vividness of his scarring has faded, but the back of his neck, his arms, his back and thighs all carry puckered scars from the cat attack.

Personality:

Even though he's nearly in his fourth decade of turns, M'cel is still... Well, a teenager in his head. He's easygoing and cheerful, and it's hard to ruffle his feathers. And, by the shards of his dragon's egg, he's energetic. The man has seemingly endless energy; he's always out and about working or playing. He's never too tired for his wingleader's orders, and he does them as fast as he can.

Mostly, because if he's not working, he's off flirting. M'cel is a pretty little man, and he knows it. He's more than a bit vain and loves women. Many women. No woman has made M'cel find a Weyrmate, and he doubts one ever will. He's kind and courteous with women, and he's never rough; he's just never found someone special enough to settle down with. He has a streak of hopeless romantic, however, and wonders if one day he'll meet that special person who'll make his heart flutter.

As sweet as M'cel is to the members of his own Weyr, he's not so well behaved to those from outside of it. The only exception are those found on search; he's even more kind to them because they have more to learn. But even other Southern Riders are to be watched until they can prove themselves to him. He's always a little wary of Holders, and he despises Northern riders. They're barbarians; choosing to let dragons die in shell rather than helping them to survive. And they're all so narcissistic! He thinks they think they're the best in the world, even though their Weyrs aren't producing like the Southern Weyrs are. Wouldn't they be making more of an effort to protect the few dragons that were clutched? Fools, every sharding one. He does, however, feel very bad for any Atypical rider from the north.

Perhaps his dislike of the Northern Weyrs stems from his adoration for his own Atypical, Tairoth. To think! If his precious one had been born in Telgar or Fort, he would've died in his egg! He is devoted to his bond and is very protective of him, to the point that he will be provoked to fight over comments made. Luckily, since he's in Malvern, that doesn't happen much. But he's for sure not a diplomatic man. Leave him behind at the weyr. It's best for everyone, really.

Another major problem with M'cel is something that frequently happens with riders of smaller dragons: He tries to overcompensate. He knows that his dragon is the best, but he has to have others know that his dragon is the best too! He's been reprimanded before for his risky actions, but he'll likely continue to serve as such.

Dragon
Name: Tairoth
Color: Black
Turns: 24
Appearance: Tairoth is smaller than an average Black, and there are several large Greens that've surpassed his petite size. Even though his size is small, Tairoth is still a very quick dragon, and like all Blacks, he's superbly good at popping precisely out of Between.

Personality:
Tairoth is much like his rider: Very energetic and cheerful. He is terribly scatterbrained. It worries his rider quite a bit. Is he just forgetful or is he starting to go daft like humans do? Tairoth simply doesn't use his Rider's memory like some other dragons do. Perhaps because of this, Tairoth is always very focused on the here and now: Things that are too far away to see are too hard to prepare for! He happily leaves all the stuff he can't think about to his rider.

He is very easily distracted, and needs a firm hand to keep him in line. Otherwise, he'll be too busy watching people go past to do drills. He likes life easy and relaxed, and will spend all his time sunning on rocks if he's allowed. He doesn't try to skip work, he just doesn't see the point. Relaxing is fun now, and he lives right now, so why not do fun things now? However, when he's been caught or told by his Rider to do work, he works on it single-mindedly. This is what needs to be done, and he will do it until it is done!

He is very relaxed, and likes to be around as many new people as possible. He is terribly gentle; he realizes that he's much bigger than humans, and he doesn't want to harm anyone! He will accept any and all hands that touch him kindly, and particularly likes children. While his Rider is always on distrustful lookout while they go to Holds Tairoth is excited; he knows there are children there! He knows better than to go in search of them, but if they happen to come to him... Well! He likes them very much.
Other: I'd be trying for a full custom :O Though, I wouldn't be adverse to things thrown into the dragon's personality, cuz I like tweests.

Name: Ja'syn *formally Jamusyn*
Age: 28
Sex: male
Sexual Orientation: straight
Former Craft: N/A
Former Rank: Holder's Son/Foster
Current Rank: Wingrider/(possible wing second)

Physical Description: Jamusyn is of average male height for Pern; he stands at 5'9" and is 145lbs. He has dark chestnut brown hair and hazel eyes that tend to appear darken when he is upset. This may be due to the fact that his bangs hang down as he glowers. His natural complexion is a tanned beige though darkens during the summer. Ja'syn has his fair share of nicks and cuts though he does have a noticeable scar from a canine attack when he was younger. This does not hinder him as the wound was never deep enough to do any muscle or nerve damage. Though not overly muscular, he can heft and haul his fair share of sacks or materials. His favorite colors are dark browns and blues though he does look handsome in reds as well.

Personality: To sum Ja'syn in one word, hard-working. He was not the eldest son nor one tapped to take over his father's lands. But he did have an interest in being his brother's steward and enjoys working with numbers and people before Impressing. He likes to know all the details and angles of a situation before making his decision on anything. Not prone to fantastical daydreams or storytelling, Ja'syn likes to have his wherries in a row at the beginning and end of the day. Not to say that he doesn't know how to have fun. He indulges in runner beast betting as well as dancing. Not a handsome fellow nor a homely man, he is never lacking for a partner on the floor with his skills.

In the way of actual personality, Ja'syn will give out praise when it is due as well as mention failings. He can sometimes be blunt and to the point about this; Ja'syn can act like his skin doesn't stink and sometimes needs to be taken down a peg or two. Normally this is handled by his Wingleader ir Weyrleader. He does tend to have a patience problem, especially when dealing with those he considers "stupid or slow people" but tries to make up for it by being considerate towards the elderly and children. He is actually quite good with both extremes, fascinated by tales of the "good old days" and marveling at the young ones' imagination since he mostly lacks one. Despite his shortcomings, Ja'syn is a people person and enjoys the company of others, especially when tales are being told or songs are being sung.

Virtues: hardworking, logical, realistic
Vices: no imagination, a**l about things being in order, impatient with people his own age

Former Family: Haderson *father/minor holder*; Nelettia *mother/holder's wife*; Hailoron *older brother/holder in training*; Pazzule *older brother/crafter*; Illorian *younger brother*; Analyssa *younger sister/candidate*

History: Born the third son of a minor holder just south of Benden Weyr , Ja'syn's history is a rather dull one. He grew up learning about farming, basic beast craft, helping in the hold where ever he could or was allowed, being teased by his older brothers. At an early age, the local Harper who came to teach noticed that he had a gift for organizing and numbers. Slowly, his father began to allow him to small responsibilities. These included counting the sacks of supplies and feeding the canines.

When he was around 12 turns, Ja'syn was feeding the canines when he accidentally stepped on the paw of a big mother. She attacked him to get him away from her and he ended up with a scar on his arm. Thankfully, it was a flesh wound and did not actually hurt anything. But this taught him caution and to always be aware of his surroundings. As time went on, Ja'syn learned from his father's steward just how much it took to run a hold, even a small one. He became the man's shadow as well as his father and brother's... Ja'syn had no desire to lead people only to see them prosper. When he was 18 Turns, his father's cousin who is one of the folk in charge of stores in a Jarvis Hold, another small hold, near Benden Hold and Weyr, extended an invitation to foster for a Turn and learn different stewarding techniques at his hold. Eagerly, Ja'syn accepted. Being at one of the hold's that traded and tithed to Weyr regularly, the family made plans to attend the next Hatching.

Ja'syn was sitting up in the Stands with his family watching the hatching. It has been a rather brutal event with one baby dragon going between and another candidate mauled so that he would be scarred for life. Finally, there was a brown dragon left on the Sands, angry and screaming its lungs out. At first, Ja'syn thought that one of his family members was yelling at him because he had zoned out. Then he realized that the voice he heard was Brynth yelling at him for not getting on the Sands fast enough to feed him. Stunned, Ja'syn actually stumbled and hurt his ribs when made his way to his lovely brown life mate. Over the past ten turns, Ja'syn and Brynth have worked hard to prove themselves reliable and capable of supporting a wing leader and helping to keep order within the ranks.

Other/Talents: Numbers. Jamusyn can recite numbers and remember what they are for until he turns blue in the face. He is also good at organizing and arranging things so that they are easily understood.

Ja'syn is extremely supportive of the Traditional Ways and Weyrs. He doesn't oppose bringing in golds or bronzes from the New Weyrs to keep variety however he does not approve at all of Atypes. They are freaks and should be destroyed like one would destroy a canine with a defect. He can't see how they would be useful at all to the success of Benden and is appalled that a crimson broke shell.

Ja'syn and Brynth would be a SEMI-CUSTOM for BROWN PLEASE.

Rider Information

Character Name: Falsirrone
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: Formerly beastcraft apprentice, currently a Wingrider.
Weyr:Trine

History:

Raised by a Craftbred mother who resented her birth as an unnecessary drain on resources, 'Sirri learned from an early age that the only one she could ever really count on was herself, and eventually her older cousin Markl. Life was never about what she could have had and didn't have, it was what she would earn for herself by herself, and what she could keep from being taken away from her. As a child she willingly joined in sometimes cruel jokes played by her peers on those deemed 'weak' though this ended up being an important turning point in her life when Markl caught her in the act and she was forced to face the path she was headed towards. It is a sense of shame she carries with her to this day that she allowed herself to say and do those things to another human being.

Truly, her elder cousin saved her life that day. 'Sirri wasn't a mean girl by nature, she was only trying to survive given the negligent attitude of her mother. The posse of young girls she ran with were the first bonds she'd ever had that accepted her, and it took a lot of work and a forced separation from those girls for Markl to finally bring Falsirrone to her senses completely. Likewise, she was apprenticed early in the beastcraft as his direct subordinate, and he forced her to abide by the strict rules of his cothold (which he shared with several beastcraft journeymen and journeywomen.) Surprisingly, her calm and analytical approach to dealing with extreme situations lent itself extremely well to being a beastcrafter.

While living with her cousin certainly set her back on the right path, disobeying him and answering a call to Stand as a candidate at Trine Weyr gave her wings. Markl may have guessed that the dragonrider who claimed to have come in Search only wanted some additional attractive skirts to chase in the Trine Lowercaverns, but neither that rider nor Markl could have foreseen what happened next.

While Standing at her first clutch, at the tender age of 15 turns, Falsirrone met Albiath, a gentle soul who was as fragile physically as Falsirrone had once been emotionally. The bond between them has since been described as close, even for a dragon-rider pair. 'Sirri gives Albiath the strength and courage to stand up for herself, while Albiath provides a never-ending support structure of love that keeps the crimsonrider from being too hard on herself when she makes mistakes. This pair took the death of their fellow crimson dragon pair poorly, especially with Albiath yearning so desperately for a clutch of her own, and knowing that Alumanth will never have the chance to see her successful younglings taking to the sky.

For that loss, Albiath and her rider hold deep resentment towards Benden Weyr, one not even sweet Albiath can bring herself to move past.

Description:
'Sirri has been rather well endowed from the maternal side of her pedigree. Sporting a voluptuous figure that would be the apple of any alpha male's eye, Falsirrone is more often then not judged on her appearance long before anyone gives her the time to open her mouth. Loose, perhaps. A tart. She looks like the kind of girl you need to lock away from your husbands, brothers, sons, and cousins. Her hair, while generally kept short to enable easy management beneath her riding helmet, is a thick and loosely curled mass of golden brown. She's got a very startling set of light green eyes to match, which are helpfully set out by the sun-darkened tan of her skin.

She dresses for comfort in the Southern Hemisphere, and is always immaculate. Hair neatly styled, nails trimmed properly, she even has excellent dental hygiene! All in all, it is not terribly surprising that she was picked up as a girl on Search... it was probably the intention of that dragonrider that she not Impress and just end up as one of Lower Cavern women that he would be able to visit at night.

Unfortunately for all involved, Falsirrone is more then just her looks, and after Impressing Albiath she truly grew into herself mentally and has learned to use her sexuality as a weapon against the men and women who looked down on her.

Personality:

Despite her feminine features, Falsirrone is as tough as nails. She won't take crap from you, won't give a crap about you, and is more often then not the last person you go to for an emotional uplift. That said, she isn't exactly vocal with her opinions, preferring to be left largely alone when it comes to hot-button subjects.

In emergencies, she is a stalwart presence of calm efficiency that would be the envy of any medical professional. She mastered the ability as a girl to compartmentalize her thoughts and feelings, leaving little room for true emotional maturity but certainly giving off the aura of it. Likewise, if she ever does crack it will be a big collapse, but the steady presence of Albiath should keep that from happening anytime soon. At the same time, Albiath's constant love and support is eroding away those deep inner feelings of abandonment and neglect, eventually making way for Falsirrone to fully come into her own and perhaps appear as less of a shrew.

When it comes to her peers, Falsirrone does enjoy a night or two enjoying drinks with a select few 'safe' friends. She does not, however, take any enjoyment from dealing with people she only has a must-have-tolerance for. She's grown quite used to being eyed up and eyed down, and does lose her temper every now and then with repeat offenders of both persuasions. On the Wing, she's not the best at following orders, preferring to know the 'how' and the 'why' when her superiors usually just want her to 'do.' But she does give it her all, and she encourages Albiath to do the same even when the crimson would rather be flying with the Weyrlings.

Dragon Information

Dragon Name:
Albiath
Dragon Color: Crimson
Age: 10 turns

Physical Description:

Where Falsirrone is considered exceptionally lovely, Albiath is FAR from it. Husky, even for a dragon, this crimson has all of the physical features one might associate on an older, and very masculine, bronze dragon. She's big for a crimson, rivaling some of the biggest of the browns and smaller bronzes, but she would look that way even if she wasn't. All of her angles bespeak weight and heft, she even has the thickened neck crest of an older beast and thickened tail base. Her head, from the eye ridges down, is a bit longer then usual, and is the only feminine thing about her besides her coloring.

Reference Picture: Here

Personality:

Albiath is the mother everyone wished they had. For all of her busy-body ways and knowing tsk tsks, this crimson dragon has nothing but sympathy and concern for her fellow Weyrmates. Whether they be young, old, sociable or not, Albiath thrives on being the shoulder everyone cries on (whether that is actually the case or not.) It is a rare day where she would offer harsh criticism, relying instead on a soft-and-steady approach to problems that enables others to see their own errors without having to be told 'nay' directly. The down side is that she is very easy to manipulate emotionally. Youngsters in particular have the ability to creep straight into her heart and play her like a harp.

She does, however, possess a keen insight when it comes to the hearts and minds of others problems. She does give great advice (even of she can rarely apply it to her own situation) and she has a positively FIERCE protection instinct that would do any momma the world over proud.

When it comes to her rider, Albiath is nurturing and sympathetic even when 'Sirri deserves a little spanking, so generally Falsirrone has to wear the apron and the pants in their relationship when it comes to important decisions. The only decision to date that Albiath was absolutely set on was that she would not chew firestone, ever. She was bent on being a mother herself, and to give Falsirrone the opportunity to explore a side of herself that she has kept locked away since her childhood.

Name: Bru'la -Formally Brularn
Age: 27
Sex: Male
Orientation: Bisexual but swings more towards the females

Physical Description: Nothing special. Shaggy dark brown hair with light brown eyes, fairly average build and 5'6 with just a hint of tan to his skin, and usually some sunburn always laying across his nose and cheekbones no matter how he tries to deal with it.

Personality:
Not a big fan of crowds. Bru much prefers a group of three or four people for his company rather than a large surrounding to keep track of. How is he to remember every name to their face when they crowd around like that without his partner's ever-social help? But then he might forget the Weyrleader's name if not for His there to remind him, as forgetful as he can sometimes be. He doesn't really see the need in knowing who every one is, though His tries to tell him how needed such information is so he knows who to greet, who to avoid, how to acknowledge someone if their dragon lets His know of a bad mood.. But if he didn't have to listen to that helpful little voice and a small confrontation comes of it, there's no real harm right? Life needs a bit of excitement, oh but try telling His that.

History: Weyrborn, Bru began life as Brularn, born to a brownrider. He never knew his mother but a few whispers as he was growing up hinted at her being a greenrider. But he couldn't picture it no matter how hard he'd try to. No, he rather fancied his mother as some kitchen worker or a drudge, but never really tried to seek her out when there was so much else to do. Like prove himself to his young peers. He didn't really grow up with much boundaries until he was old enough to Stand. Having to listen to the Candidate Master was a trying experience, and landed him with a few sessions of extended chores from his inability to willingly do as told for the first two turns.

His third turn as a Candidate saw a Crimson impress, the girl he had somewhat known and been chummy with during their lessons without really being able to recall her name. He'd never seen a hatchling Crimson before, there had been a small lull in their numbers for whatever reason at the time, so watching such a sight left a mark on him. He'd tried to recall the girl's name a few times in order to congratulate her properly, but after calling her face to face by the wrong name he sorely just gave up trying to remember anyone's name. Unless it was someone he had to know, like the Candidatemaster. He did not Impress until his sixth year on the sands, and to a very mellow, cheerful looking hatchling. His was sadly sociable right from the get-go, and he immediately set out to get His off of his little social kick. That never quite worked out. The dragon started dragging him over to the other Weyrlings during lessons to introduce them and try to strike up conversations. He very stubbornly began the battle early on to not let that social behavior rub off onto himself.

Other: He likes to tinker with things, and more often than not the tinkering ends up with the object in question becoming broken.

Semi-Custom for a Crimson

Character Name: Nanna
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Craft/Rank: Former Harper Apprentice/Cotholder; Crimsonrider
History:
Nanna was born the only girlchild of a well sized Holding, with brothers to spare. Her mother clearly preferred her daughter and spoiled her near rotten, while the menfolk of the family shook their heads but goodnaturedly put up with it. Nanna grew up with an inflated sense of her own rank and worth, but was generous enough to "lesser ranking" children if only to attempt to endear them to her--Nanna always had trouble keeping friends with her volatile personality. With an average musical talent and her mother's blessing she spent a turn or two at the Harper Hall (so much more cosmopolitan than her home Hold!) and picked up formal voice training and a bit of skill with a gitar, though to be sure she was a lot more interested in the boys (and occasional girl) of Harper Hall and the huge Gathers at Fort than the craft discipline. She came home again at her mother's request, and the two eagerly began making eyes at the local boys and making vague plans for epic weddings (while managing to marry off a few of Nanna's brothers in the process). All those plans changed when a Searchrider came through the Weyr, and told tales of a gold egg on the Sands. Naturally, Nanna wasn't one to leave such a chance untaken, and off to the Weyr she went.

It wasn't gold she Impressed but crimson, though the long term effects were roughly the same. Armed with a dragon who would love and support her no matter what, Nanna made herself right at home at Malvren, for better or for worse.

Description:
Nanna is not a particularly imposing presence at first glance, but she makes herself known through her energetic manner. She's a scant 5'2" and, since becoming a rider, has kept her light brown hair shorn in between chin and shoulder length that she usually ties into small tails when planning to do riding, or else she curls the ends and shows off her collection of decorative hair baubles. She has a rather lot of hair baubles. She prides herself in her appearance and always takes care to wear rich fabrics that flatter her figure (what little of it she has).

Personality:
Her key attributes include loyalty, stubborness, and cheerfulness. She has an obsessive personality, and once she had decided she likes something, or someone, that's all there is to it--you're stuck with her gushing fanaticism. She doesn't take no for an answer, and though she's pushy, she's not really the bullying type...though she'll gravitate to someone who is and find herself "the enforcer." She likes having someone who tells her what to do--it keeps the boredom at bay.

Her cheerfulness may well be her main redeeming trait. She hates being thought of negatively by others, and will go to great lengths to attempt to correct this injustice (often exacerbating the problem in the process). She is quite childish in her thinking and absolutely unsubtle--she will pout, she will throw temper tantrums, and a memory nearly as short as her dragon's is the only thing that keeps her from holding a grudge. Most will think her incredibly annoying. They will probably not be wrong in this assumption.

Other: I think it would be terribly amusing if her crimson was pinkish.

Semi Custom for a Brown

Character Name:Cambiden (C'en or C'iden)
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Craft/Rank: Wingrider

History: The son of one of Benden's dragon riders, although he's not sure which one ((And B'tar swears he's pretty sure it's not him.)), Cam is a fairly standard Weyrbrat, growing up in the Creche and halls of Benden, and being firmly educated in the superiority of Benden and it's traditions. His life until this point has been fairly unremarkable, with the exception of a few rounds of trouble for starting very wild rumors, though he claims he wasn't -actually- trying to start a panic among some of the younger set talking about highly intelligent felines starting an uprising and planning to break into the Weyr. It was, after all, just a possibility and it's not his fault people took it out of proportion before he could prove it one way or another. Also he was only 7 turns then. That counts for something, right?

Description:
Cam has thick black hair, which he wears cut so short that it tends to stand straight up. as soon as it grows out at all, it starts displaying a rather lovely wave, enough to make many girls envious... and Cam furious. He loathes his hair, not realizing that if grown out, it might actually be a selling point for some girls.
He's moderately attractive, in a sort of middle of the road fashion, with a mouth that lapses easily into a smile, although one of his front teeth is just a little crooked. Although it would be easier to make jokes about his personality if his eyes were brown, they're not, and are as startlingly black as his hair, which gives him a particularly intense stare. He tans easily, and turns quite brown in a lot of sun, and is sort of pleasantly indifferent to his own appearance.

Personality:
Cam, born and raised in the halls of Benden, is an interesting specimen. Inquisitive and fascinated by riddles and puzzles, he's also a fine example of (Near Olympic level) conclusion jumping. If there's a potential for an really exciting version of events, Cam is the first to see the 'obvious connections' the answers provide. Infertility among Benden's dragons? Clearly a conspiracy by the newer Weyrs to overthrow the proud traditions of Pern. Mistweed? Also a conspiracy, and probably assisted by ungrateful Holders, who find it all too easy to forget how necessary Pern's dragons are until Thread comes back around. The truth is out there, and he can prove it... somehow.

One of his saving graces in his certainty that the world is full of far far more intrigue than it usually is is that he doesn't charge head long into a situation and toss out his wild accusations, though he's more than willing to share them with close friends who he thinks will take him seriously, though a single snicker can cost you your chance to hear the next round of theories, at least until you can soothe your way back into his good graces.

Semi-Custom for a Brown please ^^

Character Name: B'nas

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Craft/Rank: Brownrider of Benden Weyr

History: B'nas came from a rather strict farmcrafter family, his parents supported Benden Weyr without fail by sending their best wares to the hold, which in turn went up to the Weyr. They installed it in their sons as soon as they could understand the concept of Dragons that it was to be their future responsibility to serve Benden always and faithfully. As the third son and the 'baby' you would have thought he would have been coddled, but he was taught in the same manner as his other brothers, he was expected to work hard on the farm keeping it running, from the crops to the herd animals, since their family was in charge he had to know management.

One cold Benden night his father came down with an illness of the chest that just grew worse as the weather worsened. Eventually he had died when B'nas was just Fourteen turns old, leaving B'nas' eldest brother to inherit the farm deeds, Their fathers death had hit B'nas hard and his brothers felt it best for him to be away from the family home so they had sent him to live and work with another of the farming families so that he wouldn't be flooded by memories. He'd accepted their decision without much fuss. His older brothers kept with the wishes of their parents and regularly tithed to their Hold, and in turn Benden Weyr.

B'nas worked for Three turns in the fields from the age of Fourteen. This suited him, as his brothers never really bothered him beyond suggesting he marry up the ranks, maybe a holders daughter, at which he usually laughed and merely said that he would decide when he was older. He was happy where he was but whenever a Dragon appeared overhead he would often stop, watch it, then get back to work with renewed vigour, as if the sight of the Dragon strengthened him.

He did this because deep down in his heart he would love to serve Benden as one of those lucky few riders. His heart soaring with the dragons whenever they'd passed overhead. He was searched at the age of Fourteen and a half turns when a Bluerider from Benden arrived notifying of a clutch on the sands. He had rushed to change into some more decent clothes. He presented some likely farmcrafters that he knew shared his love of the enormous beautiful creatures. When he presented the too few that were willing to be considered to be searched, the SearchDragon had not only picked out one of the younger lads, it had also set it's sights on B'nas. The Dragons rider had spoken to his eldest brother, who seemed delighted to have family at the Weyr

B'nas was ecstatic, his dream could be realised right here, the clutch on the sands could hold his dreams in one, shining wet dragonling. He had arrived full of hope, however he hadn't Impressed in that clutch. His faith and hope didn't die that day though, he seemed so sure that a Dragon was out there one day and until that possible day he aged out, he held onto that hope with a feirce will and faith.

For four and a half turns his surety that there was a Dragon never wavered, it was just that His dragon had yet to be clutched. At his next hatching he watched as the eggs cracked, split and hatched, followed by Impression. He'd watched all but one of the eggs found Theirs, there were many more candidates left and only one large egg left on the sands that rocked violently, eventually cracking and spilling out a handsome Brown. The beast had very carefully inspected all of the male candidates some it went over twice, before shoving some aside and nearly knocking B'nas over and Impression had been made, he'd walked off the sands, his entire reason for being now wrapped up in a big beautiful Brown hide. Several turns later and he is now a loyal and hardworking Benden Brownrider.

Description: B'nas has a kind face and bright clear hazel eyes. His hair is short but very gently curled when it's allowed to grow longer than a few inches, it is a dark chocolate brown and thick. He isn't a big man but his turns working with the farmers and taking care of his Dragon have built his muscles up moreso than his brothers in the Hold Proper as well as leaving him tanned. He likes to dress casually most of the time, not liking to draw attention to himself looks wise anyhow. he is of average height for his age but carries himself well, which sometimes makes him seem taller than he actually is.

Personality: B'nas is nothing if not friendly, he likes talking to people, to learn about what they like and do. If you ask he would be more than happy to repay the favour by telling of his family, his craft and the work. He has a certain liking for women and can often be found with a female attatched to his arm, while he likes the attention from ladies, he doesn't go for the obvious beauty, he likes to at least talk to a girl first, to get to know her even just a little bit before he'll make any sort of move. He does have troubles sometimes of being too quick to trust people, and occaisionally gets taken advantage of. He thinks he knows what is right and what is wrong, and will stongly defend what he thinks is right, at least until he has hard evidence he is wrong. He holds Benden in high respect, and if an elder or superior gives him a specific task he will do his utmost to perfom said task, he does know his limits though and will ask for help when it is needed. He is very practical about things, in his mind Life happens, you just have to go with it, however he dislikes the atypical dragons a lot, though only his Dragon knows of this since he wont admit it to anyone, especially not those that outrank him.

Other: Dragon to be added....
