It wasn't exactly Spiderday, but then again Temes had overslept on Spiderday and ended up being late to set anything up. Quickly grabbing her track uniform from where it rested hanging above her in the closet, the Chupacabra opted against a breakfast and started down towards the old track field.

It turned out, sadly, that this was the only track field - it had been abandoned since the track team sucked pretty badly and no one wanted to do it anymore. It had taken Chuppi (and likely Tybalt when she could get him) many a night after classes to get it at least looking decent enough to run on and not have people injured. Not all students were built as sturdy as the Chupacabra, nor did they have such a high pain tolerance. But anyway!

Today would be the day for Track Team tryouts! Several students had already been accepted into the team thanks to Chuppi being rather nice to them or just being too scared to say no, but now that she was somehow the Captain (a position that startled her) she had no choice but to try and have proper auditions for the time.

Maybe no one would even show up? She certainly hoped not, since they needed to beat those. . . .other people. The ones who'd trashed their meager field only a week before. Revenge would belong to Amityville if she could get a team together to win!

What is going on?!

Welcome to the Dust Devil's first attempt at track team tryouts. Currently Temes is the only club member who is actually at the field, but seeing as she's the Captain and ultimately makes the decisions. . . . well, whatever.

Fliers and banners have been posted on boards around the school for the past two weeks or so announcing the auditions, and hopefully several students are wanting to join the team. Chuppi had provided as much refreshments as possible to hold interest for people.

What do I need?

Please use the following form in your first post. It basically acts like your "sign up" for the audition, as well as an easy way for Rown/Chuppi to keep track of who is trying.

Track Application

Sprints (100, 200, 400, relay )
High Jump
Pumpkin Toss ( shot put )
Long Jump
Pole Vault
Javelin Toss
Hurdles

All are options for try-outs!

How long will this run?

Probably about a week or so. Until everyone who's had a chance to apply can! Enrolled students only though, sorry quest folks D:

If there is anything else, let me know! Otherwise, let's get started!

(( This acts like a basic ORP though, Temes might ask you to do a few things like roll a dice or something, so . . . . ))

(( COME WEARING YOUR GYM UNIFORM! Or anything comfy . . . . ))

Chuppi really, really, really doubted that anyone would be coming to the try-outs, other than maybe the few people she had already brought in as members. Even though she'd done her best to advertise and get the club out there amongst all the hub-bub of starting classes and everything else she didn't believe anyone would notice the posters.

After all, they were only about waist high for everyone since she couldn't read to put them up higher. Maybe the ones that the others hung up (if they'd done what she asked) would be seen and people would come flocking!

As she sat on the ground in the middle of the field, uniform on her body and a Thermos in her mouth, Chuppi didn't have much hope for the track team. The students here were all busy with classes anyway, and. . . well. She was just a little Chupacabra!

After a fun round of finding as many Track Team Tryout posters as she could and moving them up to a more eye-level level, Belladonna made her way to the field. For a moment she felt a stab of uncertainty as she saw Chuppi waiting with thermos in hand. Belladonna wasn’t going to try out, but instead sit on the sidelines and cheer and give general support to Chuppi and the others. Was it wrong to get Chuppi’s hopes up, thinking someone was coming to try out when it was just Belladonna?!

In any case, she was glad she had brought some blood gummi worms as a gift for Chuppi…

“Go Track Team!” Belladonna called from behind as she approached, alerting Chuppi right away to her presence. “No one here yet?” Oh, perhaps that was a bad question to lead with. “I brought you blood gummis!” Better follow up, but still weak. Oh well, she was sure someone would come along soon enough. Hadn’t she overheard a few people talking in the halls about the track team and wanting to join? Sure, they had mentioned it was to better sneak into Breck’s shed with success, but STILL. They wanted to join and that was the point! Hmph!

Tybalt stretched lazily under a tree, eying the little Chupacabra as she fretted over, well--just about everything. It didn't really surprise him. She was always like this. But man! She needed to calm down. If she didn't, she was going to wear herself out before anything actually happened.

It was funny how he was here. Originally, he had no interest in joining the track club. He enjoyed running and stuff, yes, but clubs were a lot of work. Which he hated. So why bother? That was how he felt--up until that 'friendly little note' arrived from their 'oh so kind' competition.

".........."

Who the hell were these Hell Beavers--or whatever their name was, to think so lowly of them!? They were probably just a ragtag team of talentless morons with a superiority complex, who liked to run their mouths off every chance they got! Jeez! And what was with the petty insults? Honestly! If they wanted competition, they got it! Now they just needed to---oh? Oh dear... There was the thermos again. He resisted the urge to smack his forehead. Thankfully Chuppi's friend, Belladonna was it? Had arrived. Maybe that would provide a little more assurance for the Chupacabra.

Dusting himself off, he got to his feet and began making his way over to his little friend. He too, dressed in the same track uniform. Which thankfully wasn't as bad as the gym uniform. Though he still kind of blended.

"Chuuuppi..." He called, waving to the other girl as well. "Your going to wear yourself out." He warned; stopping just beside them both. His arms were back behind his head as his tail swished about casually. He kept his usual image; relaxed and without a care in the world. "Fretting so much is going to put you in an early grave... If people show, they show. If they don't? Well, then we just keep trying." It was about all they could do. At least the field looked better in comparison to what it originally looked like. Chuppi had worked wonders with it. Now, if only she'd stop worrying...

Clubs, why did they have to be a requirement? Valentino was already gardening, wasn't that enough? Yesterday, Valentino was completing his daily rant when he stopped in front of a poster. How had he not seen it before, was it because he never looked down? Now that the recruiting poster was at a more convenient height, ideas started to pop into his head.

Valentino had noticed that when running, which he seemed to be doing pretty often these days, he never felt any of the effects from the run after.

Seeing Chuppi, Valentino walked over and gave her the form without saying a word.

It was a miracle Calder even saw the flyer and if it wasn't for the fact he was crawling on the floor looking for some loose leeches, he wouldn't even know that there were try-outs. Calder had never been on a team before, and had to actually ask someone in the hallway what 'track' was. The student had given him a short summary that consisted of 'a lot of running and jumping over things'. This instantly called to the kelpie, who ran and jumped over things all the time. Surely he would be a natural at this 'track team', and seeing as it was a team, a word he highlighted in his mind with bold yellow marker, he thought of large groups and friends. Teams sounded like a blasts, and never being in a big group. He pulled off the flyer and went to past it on his wall.

Too bad he also forgot about the date and had to actually quickly get dressed and get to the track field – which he found out wasn't the track field and had to ask 4 people before they even knew they HAD a track field and pointed him in the right direction. In was running there that made him think that planning things ahead of time, like finding out where something was being held, was not his strong suit.

It was arriving at the field at last that he saw a small gathering, and slowed down, glad that he wasn't late and that everyone up and left. He had no idea there wasn't a deadline that meant be here or else, and had thought everyone would be gone if he spent too long getting here. Actually, he didn't even see he was right on time. A little winded – okay, not the best way to show you could run well – he went over to the small group, beaming to see both Belladonna AND Chuppi. "Are you two on track?" he asked, holding his crinkled, water-warped form.

Lucien was in his room and then he was outside, not entirely sure just when or how he got there but if he was here it must be better than where he was. Right? Right. Now just where was here? His icy blue eyes slowly slid across the landscape. Was it some sort of dump site? No, no... it took him a few minutes of staring but he finally came to the conclusion that this was not a dump site but a field. A very dirty field. Conclusion drawn, Lucien noticed a smaller figure run by him, and upon further inspection noticed several people down on the field.

Idly floating in the air just above the ground Lucien sat with his legs crossed over each other and his arms crossed over his chest, making a hmmmmmmmm sound as he expressed an interest in finding out what the small commotion down there was. That was it. His mind narrowed and focused on the topic at hand: find out what was going on!

With haste and without much thought, Lucien dropped on the ground and walked gracefully towards the field with bare feet. He didn't get there as fast as the little pony that ran ahead of him, but he got there, shockingly with his curiosity still intact. With no idea what was going on, he quietly stood behind them, making as little noise as a soft breeze in an empty field until finally a gust of wind blew by Lucien's neck.

"May I inquire what the commotion here is?"

How wonderful! She would be trying out for the Dust Devils today, which was a track and field club at the school. She had wanted to sign up for the long jumps and the high jumps and she knew that wouldn't be a problem for her. She could jump from buildings for maggot's sake! Of course, the last thing she wanted to be was a show off. This would be a great way for her to get in the exercise she needed and meet new ghouls and boils. Not to mention, clubs were a requirement and so far, she hadn't joined any.. at least officially. There weren't a lot that she even qualified for so this was very important to her.

She came wearing a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt as that was more comfortable to her than a pair of shorts. She was ready to go! She spotted the group in the field and hastily pounced to join them, leaping from one spot to another much like a frog. This was how she naturally moved so it didn't strike her that it may appear odd to the students that had seen her walking in the halls. She had no choice but to walk normal in school as she was restricted by the walls and ceiling.

She cleared a good twenty feet with every jump and she was just warming up. She knew she could do better but in the defense, it had been awhile since she had any real exercise at all. Oh, if only there were a hapless human to pounce on and maul! It would be so perfect then.

Still, this was the happiest she had been since coming to the school. "I'm here for tryouts," she greeted, smiling broadly, pigtails bobbing. "This is so exciting!"

Wide paws raised dust as Davinica loped over to the track field, one of the team's fliers clenched in her paw. She actually wasn't late this time, wonder of wonders - but this was probably helped by the fact that she had just signed up for the team last night (plenty of time to remember to show up!), and that she'd been lightly snoozing under a tree nearby. So the Garou wasn't exactly ready, but she was here on time.

Davi slowed as she came upon the field. There was already a pretty hefty count of students here, including the shortie she'd left her form for. Some of them were interesting at best: the zombie bouncing up like her feet were springs caught her eye. And some of them, like the barefooted boy who looked, literally, like he just blew in, didn't look like the running type at all.

But heeeeey. Who was she to judge?

"If I filled this out already, should I do it again?" No sooner was Davinica within earshot that the question out of her mouth, the flier waving in her fist.

The sun was thankfully only slightly warm as it beat down on the chupacabra's sitting body, causing her to actually feel more drowsy than anxious, and her head bobbed a few times as sleep tried to take hold/ It almost succeeded in nailing her down until a familiar voice came into play, shouting something that startled the little girl enough that her quills stood on end and she jumped to all fours. It took a few seconds for her to calm down and get to her feet, trotting over to where Belladona was, and a bright smile spread over her face at the welcome presence of her friend.

"No one is here just yet, but . . . . "

Her face had saddened during the phrase, but she wasn't even able to complete it before Tybalt had shown up and called out to her. The little girl's cheeks instantly flushed and she rubbed her face to calm down, giving a hearty greeting in return to the Vice-Captain of the team. Talk about being in an early grave nearly made her face blanch, but thankfully people were arriving! And they all wanted to try out! She recognized some of their faces instantly, Calder and Val for certain, while others she barely knew or had no idea of at all. Either way, this was wonderful! People were here to try out!

. . . which of course meant she needed to step up and actually get things started. The students wanting to audition had all brought forms with them, which she carefully collected, and she peered over what people wanted to try out for. It looked as though she might actually get a rounded out team on her first try at try-outs! Chuppi would have squealed with delight if she wasn't trying to look so professional, but instead she cleared her throat and started the introduction.

"My...my name is Temes, and I'm the Captain of the Track Team. This is Tybalt, and he's my Vice-Captain. I'd like to ...welcome you all to the try-outs, and I'm really excited to see many people I know here! I...I can't wait for events to start so...um...should we all get warmed up for the first try-out? A bit of stretching would be good, right?"

Chuppi didn't really take into account anything anyone had said to her, her ears were ringing with nerves and she wanted to throw up a little bit, but at least she was getting things underway. If they all got warmed up then she could hold the try-outs sooner and then they'd all make the team.

. . . . maybe.

"Ba...basic stretching is good! If you need a partner to stretch, for ahead....or you can just do a light jog first before stretching. Either way is very good for you. When..when you're done warming up let me know and I'll...explain what we're going to do."

Hang in there Chuppi!

The word try-out slipped from the lips of one of the students and into Lucien's ears but still that alone wasn't enough to remind him just why he had been over in this direction in the first place. It was when he finally caught sight of Tybalt and then put Try-outs and Tybalt together that the light lit inside his empty lantern of a brain. One second. One second. He remembered! He had rushed out of his dorm and hurried to the field for try-outs. He must have had a sheet somewhere... somewhere... He dug around and around until he found a piece of paper tucked in behind his belt and quickly held it out to Temes as she was collecting the rest of them from everyone.

Admittedly, as Lucien looked around he felt a little out of place. Completely having forgot, he was in his normal clothes, including his lack of shoes. Although even if he had remembered he still probably wouldn't have worn shoes, it just wouldn't have been comfortable and he'd probably trip and fall on his face! He was just thankful that his clothes were comfortable, and with a little snap of his belt buckle he slipped his belt off and put it off to the side before.

The air elemental spirit generally understood the concept, but he glanced at Temes, and then to Tybalt as he inquired a question to either of them. "My feet have to stay on the ground until I jump, correct?"

Digging his feet into the ground, he curled his arms under each leg and kneeled down to he ground, waiting for an answer as he stretched out his legs a little. Phew.

Rain grinned. She loved jumping and couldn't wait to get started. While she would be slow in her runs, something that would surely get her ridiculed upon first look for the high and long jumps, she would surely impress with the jump itself. Others needed speed to get the boost they needed. Speed was not her friend, however raw leg strength was. That was her nature.

Stretching felt foreign to her but she tried to mimic the others the best she could. Did this really help? Every so often, she would sneak in a jump, flipping in the air to land back on her hands and legs. Stretching seemed pointless, especially to an undead. It wasn't like her body was going to change, or grow muscles or anything. She was lucky that she wasn't the same kind of zombies as others as rigor mortis would have put a damper on things. That wasn't to say that her muscles weren't stiff, they were. It just wasn't nearly as bad as most zombies and her legs and arms were by far the most limber of her limbs. She could scale walls, hang and crawl on ceilings and most importantly, jump! And she was here to show that. She loved this!
PostPosted: Thu Oct 14, 2010 5:48 pm

Tybalt took the forms from and began sifting through them; oblivious to the team captain's blushing. Everything seemed in order. They even had a good start on the number of people too. Looks like Chuppi's worries were for nothing. Though if there was one concern, it was Rain's form.

He eyed it curiously; wondering what she meant about the "Never practice or participate on an empty stomach.." part, before it dawned on him.

".........."

Oh dear Jack! Hopefully she wouldn't try and take a bite out of her teammates. That wouldn't be good... He didn't know how to stop a hungry zombie either... Maybe they'd have to provide refreshments or something, to keep those sort of accidents from happening? Couldn't hurt. Might even motivate them to train more. Hmm... He would have to discuss this one with Chuppi later.

He continued scanning through, unaware of the fact that he was missing his introduction. Not that it was a big deal. He had plenty of time to greet them later. Besides, he was curious to see what kind of team they were gathering.

"Ah yeah. I'm pretty sure that's mandatory." He said answering the Sylph; finally bringing his attention to others and doing his best to keep crooked smile from appearing. Though he failing to do so in the end. "Wouldn't be much of a point otherwise." He finished, scratching the back of his head.

Lucien took a small look at the zombie nearby, she seemed very excited about this all and Lucien couldn't understand why a zombie would be and just how well it would be with athletic activities. Quite distracted from his original thought, it took Tybalt speaking to draw back Lucien's attention. He nodded to Tybalt with a laugh, watching as the dog's smile twisted before scratching his head. The image that went into Lucien's head was a dog sitting on it's a** with it's foot behind its head.. scratching it's ears. I guess that was relevant.

"Makes sense," he said, digging his feet into the ground, curling his toes into the dirt. It felt squishy, very cool and comforting on his feet.
