Every time Eve told herself she had to clear the dorm room of her things, and Rea had too. Soon this room would be empty; there would be no sneaking out of the window for late night patrols, unless their successors, by some miracle, were senshi too. She wouldn't be able to spin around her chair and ask Rea if she wanted to go patrol, or pester her to go out with her. There would be no more, no more of everything that she would miss, just because she had to grow up and be an adult.
As a senshi, they had grown in more ways than one; you couldn't fight monsters and get involved in the war without maturing through the experience. She sensed that even though Serenade was younger, the girl was mentally much older; having gone through so much pain and suffering and having her heart ripped apart again and again. It was hard to accept this process that forced you to grow up, she thought, propping her elbows on the windowsill and resting her chin on her palms.
She gazed up at the sky, wondering how far away was the place she had lived in her past life. She vaguely remembered only being able to see the dark sky and stars back then. Many, many bright stars, which they would point out and form constellations with silly names by joining the dots with their fingers. There were stars too, here on Earth, and she found herself staring at the one bright twinkling star.
It was something she had done in her youth; to clasp her hands together and gaze solely at that one star that had caught her attention. Starlight, star bright, the first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight. As a kid, she wished for silly things, like to have a pony, to have cake, and all those material possessions. Now, as Eve unconsciously put her hands together and stared up at the star, she didn't know what to wish for. It wasn't as easy as it had been in the past, when she would wish for multiple things, and kept amending them.
When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires will come to you
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires will come to you
Wishing was silly though. She knew it wouldn't work, knew that when you wished, you still had to work for it. A star wouldn't give you what you desired when you simply wished and then sat back and do nothing. If that worked, she would just wish for the Negaverse to go away and maybe the star would become a meteorite that conveniently smashed right into their Headquarters and annihilated them all. If only if it was that easy.
If your heart is in your dreams
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do
What did her heart truly wish for? Eve asked herself. To stay in Crystal Academy in her dorm room with Rea and that nothing would ever change, that they would lead their lives like this forever? It was a selfish wish, and something that would become boring over time, and she bit her lip, closing her eyes as she thought. What did she want to wish for? She had friendship, she had family, but she wasn't really happy. Sometimes she felt lost.
Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of of their secret longing
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of of their secret longing
Maybe it was love? Eve thought. Was the one thing she had sworn off on so that she wouldn't get hurt the very thing hindering her from being truly happy? But then again, Serenade had loved so deeply, and had lost. Seeing her miserable like that was heart wrenching, and Eve thought that if she loved and lost as she did, she wouldn't be able to take the pain. Maybe she should wish for Serenade to be happy? For her to find someone that loved her and she loved in return? Or had she already been jaded?
Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wished upon a star
Your dreams come true
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wished upon a star
Your dreams come true
Their lives would still go on, wishing or not. They would still have to walk the path as time ticked on, and some things couldn't be stopped. Some things would happen that they didn't wish to, and it was a hurdle to struggle over. That was just how fate worked; it didn't pander to your wishes.
Still, the star blinked down at her and suddenly, Eve knew exactly what she wanted to wish for, as ridiculous as it was that she knew wishing upon stars was crazy for some one her age.
I wish, Eve said silently, taking a deep breath before exhaling, and wishing with all her heart, I wish I knew what to wish for.
