User Image Good lord, the first two days had been absolutely miserable.

Not only was he a wuss and had hurt himself while trying to run away from her. He was a wuss that had fallen and cracked his head hard against an upturned rock. He was also a wuss that had passed out and she couldn't just leave him to the predators. Even though she really thought she should have after the first day of trying to drag his body to Tomkin.

After arriving to her pack, however, the young and rough around the edges female insisted on taking charge of him. She helped clean his wound and collected moss to help stop the blood flow. She had practically mothered him until he woke up, which was unusual show of compassion for the crass and tough daughter of Schatze and Stryder. She even went so far as to curl up beside him to offer warmth, but the entire time insisted that it was merely her duty. The den he was being kept in during his recovery was currently empty, however, save for him. Tuilinn had gone off to hunt for him...

At least to the best of her abilities.

She was plodding back towards the dens briskly, the corpse of a freshly killed rabbit dangling from her maw.

User ImageThe drag back to Linn’s pack lands had been horrible, he had woken up every once in a while but still hadn’t been able to stand on his own without being overcome by the need to throw up or a spasm of pain. Thankfully his body had passed into sweet slumber enough times for Pol to have been awake when he arrived to her pack.

He had wondered about her attitude about her mannerisms and where she had gotten them from, she was born to be a leader if only she could get training to control her anger issues, at least in Pols opinion that’s what it seemed like.

With his luck though Pol had passed out again once he had arrived and he couldn’t get any information about her while he slept. He had awoken fully last night next to the brown girl, he didn’t want to make a big deal of it and so convinced his body to drift back into sleep but not before he got a full idea of what kind of care he was in.

The best, obviously.

And now, the third day in her pack lands Pol was wide awake to find himself alone but not for long it seemed. Looking to the den’s opening Pol noticed the large female enter with a fresh kill hanging from her mouth, a perfect alpha.

“Is that for me?” Batting his eyes Pol let loose a low giggle to the added effect of being ‘Linn’s’.

"'Course not, I was gonna eat it all by myself. And be a big fatty."

She jibbed, but only after the carcass was clear of her maw, allowing her to speak. She dropped it in front of the tan furred fellow that she had been doting on, albeit begrudgingly, the past few days. He seemed to be doing better, much to her relief. At least better enough to be cracking jokes and giggling.

There seemed to be a slightly softer note to her tone and actions, but she aslo didn't feel as though he was trying to get the better of her. Thus, she merely took on the roll of a bossy, mother hen. The no nonsense sort that wouldn't stand for any back talk. Lord help any pups she might have in the future, if they tried to cross her, but she had the best at heart.

"Now eat, you oughtta be hungry." She would eat whatever was left, if any was left. If not, she would try to snag her own meal later on.

“Well you did seem like you were getting a bit of a belly there.” Mumbling Pol slowly stood up stretching out his back and shaking out his fur, the sudden movement though brought on a light headache for Pol his wound flaring up with heat. Closing his eyes tightly Pol sighed sitting back down, his stomach was rock hard and so his urge to eat was gone.

“No thank you though; I think my stomach has to settle from the fever.” He remembered getting a fever in the first day of his arrival, ‘Guess these are the side effects.’

“I should be good by the evening; I’d like to talk with you about something though.”

"Pfff, least I ain't as fat as you, tubby." She teased lightly and settled on her haunches, watching as he settled back down. There was worry, but she refused to let it crease her brow and she nosed the kill closer to him. There was a hard, stern glint to her eyes and a light grown on her maw.

"You need to try to get some of it down so you can keep your strength up. Else you'll be running on empty and that won't get you anywhere near better, boy." She was almost sickened by her own behavior. All she had to do was sprout feathers and start clucking, or at least that was how she felt as she chided her equally young charge.

"What's on your mind?" She slid from a seated position to her stomach, her paws, which were still a bit too big for her body, were splayed out ahead of her and her blue eyes were trained on him.

Nodding Pol leaned forward taking some meat into his mouth and slowly chewing it; the pounding in his head was going down a bit as time passed which was good it made it easier to eat for him it was just his stomach that worried him now. Shrugging the feeling aside Pol swallowed the bite he took and laid down allowing for the food to hit the bottom of his stomach, and right when it did that Pol hunger kicked it!

Holding back het urge to lung after the rest of the meat Pol looked back to Linn, “I’d like to head back home, my pack can thank you properly for your wonderful treatment of me.” And right as he finished with his words Pol’s stomach took over, quickly enough the rest of the meat was in his mouth.

She watched with a careful, sharp blue eye as he took a tentative bite of the rabbit she had killed. She remained stoic, waiting patiently for him to discover what she had assumed, that his body was craving nutrients. She couldn't help but grin as a hungry look crossed his features.

"No offense, Pol... But I don't think you're ready to go back all that way. You aren't ready, not after that nasty knock you got." She wrinkled her nose, emphasis on just how badly she considered the wound to be. It was obvious that he was still hurting, from his unsteady movements and obvious wincing when he moved his head. Yes, she was raring for an adventure, feeling somewhat cheated that she had to return to her own pack so soon, but she didn't feel now was the right time to leave.

Swallowing the last bit of meat there was Pol shrugged off Linn’s opinions and sat up right, his body winced and his head pounded but he was good at pretending. He knew his body was fully done healing and that he shouldn’t push himself but he needed to head back today he had only said he’d be gone for 5 days and this was the 5th day. He wasn’t going to allow Sam to think of him as a liar.

“You should come along then if you are so worried” And with a lick of his paw for emphasis pause, “mother .”

"I ain't your mother."

She snorted indignantly and tilted her head upwards, as if irritated, but a blue eye rested diligently on his frame. She didn't think he was ready, knew he wasn't ready, and he was going to be dumb about it. She just knew it. He had that look about him and she didn't like it, not one bit.

"Well, duh. I was gonna come along, whether you wanted me to or not. You gotta have someone to watch your back so you don't go and get yourself banged up again." She shifted into a more comfortable position and turned her snout straight towards him.

"But I don't think you're ready. You're still hurt. Why don'tcha wait just another day or two, eh?"

Rolling his eyes Pol took slow deep breaths before standing and walking around, he was going at a very slow pace which wouldn’t work well with Pol’s need to head home. Gulping back the pain and upset stomach all of a sudden Pol worked himself into trotting.

Less than a second later Pol was back on the ground panting like he had just hunt after a bear. “I know I can make this trip, I just need to prepare myself for the journey.” More panting and he was up again!

Shaking himself out Pol out of the corner of his eye couldn’t help but notice Linn hadn’t left, nor had she even asked for help from her alpha. Was she more capable then himself? She kind of reminded him of his own Alpha…

“Hmmm… Tuilinn do you have any relatives named Samhain?”

She watched him silently as he stood and struggled to trot around the den. She wasn't impressed, wasn't impressed at all. He wasn't ready and was too slow. He wouldn't even make it in two days, let alone one, just to where she had found him. It would take a few days more just to reach this other pack.

And she would have to get directions, just in case he couldn't remember the way.

"You aren't ready. You're pushing yourself too hard. Just lay down and rest another day or two, let your body heal. If you don't, I'll have to drag your sorry a** all over again and I doubt your boss'll like that." She chided again, looking none too amused.

"Samhain? ... Sounds kinnna familiar, but I'm not too sure. I know my parents had litters before mine."

Panting Pol pranced around; he was going to do this! He wasn’t going to give up and be a weak little omega wolf! Growling Pol ignored the pain brought on by his head wound and continued his measured trots, “I can do this, I won’t let a little head wound stop me from getting home.”

Stopping for a moment Pol pranced right over to Linn, she would make a fine alpha one day. She knew what had to be done and had to happen to get things done, all she needed was a little work over with her manners. “And I imagine you wouldn’t allow one to stop you either.”

"Course I wouldn't. But I also wouldn't be some damned fool what got herself killed over pride." Thaaaaaat was probably a lie. She was horribly stubborn. But she knew what she was and was not capable of and it was better to be a little late than to never get to a destination at all. Getting shredded by a larger predator would probably be very painful and the thought of bears came to her mind. They made her uncomfortable, but she knew she would be dumb if she didn't fear them at all.

"That lil' head wound of yours could be enough to cause you to fall out again, and then what'd happen? What if some big thing came and ate you? That happens, you know. It's rough running without a pack. And what would your alpha think if you never came back? He'd be unhappy, I wager."
PostPosted: Sun Oct 10, 2010 8:34 pm

Growling Pol couldn’t help but get annoyed but that last comment, his alpha would be proud of him! He said 5 days and he meant 5 days! He wasn’t going to allow his alpha to believe he was a lair to believe he was going to let some little wound message with his bound with Sam.

“My alpha would be proud of my will to get back to the pack within the time I had told him I would be away. Now are you coming with me or are you just going to complain?”

"I'm just saying that I don't think he'd be proud if you passed out and I had to drag you again... Or worse, you never make it back at all! Better to be late than to be a dead wolf, don't you think." She bluntly forced out the words and met his gaze, lifting her head and tail in a display of dominance. She couldn't let him get himself killed, of course not. But she could do her best to bully him into making the right decision.

"If that matters so much to you, I'll tell him that it was my fault that you were late." So you don't get yourself mauled and eaten, nimrod. She thought the last bit silently, angry that he would value promptness over sheer survival. Surely his alpha would understand.
