Unyezi had spent the afternoon hanging out with the hunters and helping where he could.. all the while avoiding his brother. His family seemed to be very good at holding grudges and Unyezi was no exception. Once he was home, he wasn't quite sure how it happened but he had been left with one small cub who seemed completely disinterested in whatever it was everybody else was going to do and set on hanging out with him.

He sat there, his tail curled around his toes, staring down at Caritas with a smile.

"So, what are we going to do now?"

CUB

The cub in question had been sniffing the grass around them and looked up at the question. What were they going to do now? It was a pretty simple question.

"We should play hummock!" she exclaimed, looking at the bulk of the older lion. He would make a good hummock to climb over and tunnel under and be full of fun.

"You lie down. And I hunt invisdable bugs on you!" Caritas explained the game in more detail since Unyezi might not know it because she had just made it up.

"That's a nice big word, you're such a smarty," he said, grinning down at her as she explained the game she wanted to play. He nodded.

"I think I can handle that," he said, but instead of laying down he leaned back onto his hind legs and stood up as tall as he could manage. He wobbled, clearly not well balanced at the height he was trying to maintain.

"Like this?"

Caritas made a face at the big white lion. "No, that's a tree, not a hummock! A hummock is like a small hill. It's on the ground," the word "duh" was unspoken but clearly heard.

"You're s'posed to lie down. Like yer gonna sleep like you always do Grampa!" the cub insisted.

"A tree? You think so?"

He frowned and looked down at all of his paws, acting very confused while fighting the urge to laugh at the way she corrected him. He couldn't think of any other positions he could pull off that wouldn't work, though. He put his front paws back on the ground.

"I don't know if I can go to sleep without grandma here, though," he said, shaking his head.

The cub gave her grandfather a disapproving look. "You don't need Gramma to go to sleep, I've seen it! You just nap!"

She was too frustrated and too young to understand that he was teasing her. But she could hear the laughter in his voice and see the smile in his eyes. He shouldn't be laughing at her!

"I do so need grandma to sleep!"

He frowned at her but he knew he couldn't keep pushing his luck, she was losing patience with him and he had dealt with enough cubs in his time to know they didn't appreciate teasing very much.. silly only went so far, Caritas clearly didn't find it so amusing.

"OK, ok!" he said, very slowly and dramatically lowering himself onto the ground like he was going to go to sleep, "I'll try."

"Yay!" He finally understood and was going to play the game properly after so long that Caritas almost didn't want to play anymore! She couldn't help bounding around impatiently waiting for Unyezi to lay down on the ground like a living, breathing hummock.

"Are you ready yet?" the cub asked periodically through this process. "Can we play now?"

"Just- one- more-"

He stretched out his only remaining visible limb before tucking it underneath his chest and then resting his head on the ground. He took one deep breath and then nodded- however awkward his head being on the ground made that.

"Ready!"

Caritas was almost dancing with excitement by now. He'd laid down in such a way that there was only one possible thing he could be - an oddly colored hummock!

"You're a really good hummock!" the cub informed her grandfather. "Now we can play!"

With that she was off, bounding onto Unyezi's shoulder and to his back, chasing an invisible beetle that just didn't want her to catch it. She did remember to keep her claws sheathed though because it wasn't a real hummock or beetle, just a game.

She was so small and light, it wasn't very uncomfortable laying there with her climbing all over him-- though it was rather ticklish. He started out with his eyes closed but he opened them again, trying to glance back without moving his head but it was futile. He waited a few minutes, letting her play-- and then he started to wiggle. He started small but progress fairly quickly to more of a rocking motion.

"Earthquake!"
PostPosted: Sat Oct 09, 2010 7:29 pm

Caritas was about to lay a paw on the invisible beetle when the game took an unexpected and thoroughly unwarranted turn. Earthquakes weren't in the rules!

But...it was a lot more fun now! The black cub giggled and crouched down on Unyezi's back so that she could stay on better through the ride. "You made me miss the invisdable beetle!" she complained, but the comment was spoiled by Caritas laughing through it.

"What was that? I can't hear you!"

He rocked a couple times more before slowing down, daring to lift his head a bit and glancing over back to Caritas, grinning.

"You held on all right, did you?" he asked, "Did the beetle make it through the earthquake?"

"You made me miiiiiss it!" the cub tried to complain over her giggling and her grandfather's wiggling, but it was still hard to distinguish the words. Finally though, the earthquake came to an end and Unyezi looked her in the eye.

"A'course I held on awright!" Caritas retorted. "But the beetle runned away during the earthquake and now I'll never find it!" The black cub made a face and pouted at the white lion.

"No? Let's see if we can find it!"

Suddenly, Unyezi was pulling his front legs out from underneath him and pushing himself into a standing position, taking the chance that she would maintain her balance and stay on his back. He looked over toward her again, but instead looking as best he could to try to find the beetle that had disappeared.

"Not here," he said, lifting up one of his front paws, leaning slightly to one side-- and then to the other side as he put one paw back down and lifted the other, "Or here."
