Lullaby was nervous. Lilith wouldn't let him in the den, and for a long time the only sound he heard were the blind crickets who lived alongside them in the caves, singing their songs. Was she ok? Should he dare to enter the den without her permission, just to check on her? He couldn't decide, and thumped his tail against the cool earth nervously, biding his time.

After what seemed like an eternity, the purple male thought he heard soft whining and grunting. They were here?! He jumped up, noting the small twinge of pain still present in his leg. It wasn't the same pain as before, but the pain of healing from a 'surgery' gone right. He smiled at the pain, it had waned significantly in the last months, and he knew he was getting better. He still couldn't find the courage to let his mate break his jaw and reset it, though, so he remained soft-spoken for the moment.

"Lilith can you hear me?"' he ventured a bit closer, daring to stick his head into the mouth of the den, but not too far in. His eyes were already adjusted to the dark in the cave, but the dens were always naturally darker, and he struggled to make out the form of his lovely mate in the short distance. "Are you alright? Are they?"

Panting Lilith looked in the direction of her mate that was hell! She had done everything she knew she was suppose to and it still had hurt like all hell. But it wasn’t as if Lilith was hung up on that pain she was gladly able to get her mind to focus on her new born pups; three of them to be exact. Over the last few months her ‘relationship’ with Lullaby had grown a great deal, at least she thought it did rightfully she didn’t know if this was part of the relationship plan or what.

His soft spoken behavior was nice for Lilith to concentrate to, he didn’t bother her unnecessarily and he was always okay with conversing about her studies. And now that she had three pups to look after she’d truly need his help. Quite frankly she didn’t know if the male was suppose to look after the kids or if she was, in her old pack the whole group raised them other than the one alpha.

A shiver ran down her spine, she hadn’t told anyone of what her old pack was like, of what they did to wolves. Pushing the thoughts away Lilith nodded, her panting continued, this was her life now.

“We are all fine, but I should rest.” It wasn’t so much a question as a suggestion hoping to hear Lullaby agree with her statement.

Lullaby wriggled slowly, careful not to make too much noise or disturb too much dirt. "May I come in and help?" he asked with some trepidation. If she was tired, he could help watch over them while she slept. He was good for that, his broad back could serve as a buffer between the inside of the den and the outside cavern where other wolves were moving around doing their daily duties and planning.

As he waited for her answer, his eyes focused more, and he tried to make out the forms of the three pups. He had three! Three sons or daughters or both. It was all very amazing to him, and he could barely believe it. He had been alone for so long, and now he had a good woman, and children, and a good pack.

He could hear the other wolves behind them, shuffling about, and beginning to wake up. The hunting party would go out soon, and Lullaby would make sure to grab Lilith something from the kill for her, or at least watch the pups while she went to get herself fed. It all depended on what she would let him do, and he was completely fine with that.

Nodding Lilith couldn’t keep her eyes open any longer; it had been so much more work than her body had been in the condition to give, but in the end she had given birth to three beautiful pups. And though to her the term beautiful wasn’t a real way to describe a wolf she could truly use it on her pups as they had in fact been born with such beauty it blinded even her logical thinking brain. As her eyes closed Lilith could feel her body lighten as she drifted off to a peaceful sleep, her dreams filled with the new pack she was apart off but soon enough nightmares consumed of, the horrors of her old pack still thriving within.

Letting out a small yawn Roll tumbled over onto his side flopping around as if he wanted to move, the little guy was in some serious need of alone time, newly born and already he wanted to eat and then get out of there he could feel his mom and dad close by maybe even closing in on him! He needed some space! Stretching out Roll did his best to use his little legs and arms to push his siblings and mom away; this was going to be a hard life if he was just going to keep on pushing his family away.

Lullaby saw Lilith lower her head to the ground to sleep, and it made his heart and stomach flutter lovingly. He crept his way through the tiny opening and curled around the other side of his mate, effectively encompassing their pups in a circle of protection. He looked down at them, counting them several times to make sure they were all still there, and then counting their tiny toes.

He felt serene as his mate slept and his pups wriggled about. New life, it was amazing, and he wondered at it the whole while. Would it be safe for him to fall asleep? Probably not. He would keep awake for as long as Lilith needed to rest. He could easily call one of the scouts over to bring his mate some of the kill when they returned. No need to rush.

Stone heard only muffled sounds, and had no idea what they were. There had been a presence, a voice, in his life in the womb, and now it seemed stronger to him. What was this strange place? It felt cooler, and the world around him was no longer damp and comforting, in fact, he felt dry and dirty suddenly.

He felt movement beside him, a feeling not unlike his siblings pushing against him before, but this was different. Inside, they had always been together, always touching, never apart. now his sibling pushed and was suddenly far away. Stone felt frightened, and his body tightened in a small shiver of uncertainty. Was this life?

Adieu figured that this was what dying felt like. She had been rather roughly shoved out of her dark warm home and plunged into a new world of equal darkness that was almost cold. She could only feel one sibling near her now, and she feared that the other had died during their rough and tumble exit into this terrible place.

She snuggled closer to the remaining sibling for some semblance of warmth, and quieted her mind, hoping to hear or feel something, no matter how muffled or slight, to hang on to.

Roll curled into himself, it was cold being alone he didn’t understand it; he wanted to be warm why wasn’t he warm? This new life was harder then he thought it would be, harder then he wished it to be why couldn’t he just be warm! Suddenly his mouth dropped open yet no noise came out, closing it Roll crawled as best he could on the ground, opening and closing his mouth was fun; his need for warmth forgotten.

He realized he couldn't really see, and wondered if the world was dark, or if it was just his eyes. He could hear a soft buzzing and droning of sounds coming from a certain direction, but didn't know what those noises were yet.

Would life always be like this? Was he destined to be deaf and dumb and blind for eternity? He wondered these things as he sensed more movement to his side. His siblings felt like they were closing in on him, and due to the coolness of his new home, he was grateful for it.

The small female felt the urge to open her mouth, and her body stiffened in what she would later learn was a yawn. She was no longer hungry, for she had been fed recently in a most unusual way. Before this change, this terrifying journey, she had never thought of her stomach. Food had simply come when it needed to. Now, she had had to suckle, and she appreciated the warmth and closeness of the action more than she ever believed she could. It was her favorite thing.

She snuggled closer to her sibling, still believing him the only one left, and clung to him for that reason. She too wondered if she would forever be unable to see or hear, or make the noises she heard all around her, whatever they were. Was that something for her to accomplish in her life, or was this it?

It felt so weird being out like this, a cool gust of something blowing over his body, with the feeling of wolves around him, were they his siblings? His parents? His sight and listening ability was so off he didn’t understand it, but then again didn’t really care much… there was just so much to keep track of that Roll just didn’t WANT to keep track of it. s**t would happen on its own; at least he felt the important s**t would the s**t that involved his body and his siblings.

Stone figured that it would be best for him to just go back to sleep, if he could. He rolled himself over towards the closest sibling, which happened to be Adieu, and tried to quiet his mind for sleep.

His breathing slowed, and somehow, he could still hear the familiar and comforting beating of his mother's heart, and it helped him drift off to sleep. The last motion made by him was a tiny unsuppressed yawn, and then, except for his shallow breathing, Stone was still.

Adieu felt her sibling push closer to her, rolling and crawling like he did. She wasn't sure what she was supposed to do, and he felt awfully still beside her. The urge overtook her quite quickly to just sleep, as they did when they were safely tucked inside their mother's belly.

The little female followed her brother's act, and yawned softly on her way into sleep. She worried once more about the other sibling, and hoped that he was merely a few inches away, just barely out of reach, and not dead or hurt or... gone forever. When the wrinkles of worry passed from her face, she finally drifted into peaceful sleep.

Lilith slowly awake from her short slumber and glanced around, she never needed much sleep to recharge her energy and she was glad for that. Glancing over her pups she counted them and noticed one was further away from the rest. Sighing softly Lilith pushed Roll back towards the other pups, he seem to open his mouth to whine and she paused for a moment in awe to see if he would speak but he did he just closed his mouth and rolled back away from his siblings. Shaking her head Lilith curled against them to provide warmth before quickly looking to Lullaby.

“I’m hungry.” Lick of a pup, “Please.”
